  2. Yes please keep us updated on Cookies progress I hope everything is Ok.
  3. If your planning on Breeding bird you will have to make sure the breeders are all desease free. So as long as your Teils are vet checked and deemed healthy I don't see any problems with allowing him a few hours of flight time he would probubly love it.
  4. Thats a nice big Grey you have there he is definatly in the normal weight area My Tyco weighs 579gr and Adaya weighs 432 grs so i would say your Grey is just fine.
  5. Your Quaker is such a good talker he will have Echo talking in no time. I loved the video I watched it twice so so cute. Echo sure is a cutie I could just watch him/her all day. s/he reminds me so much of my own precious Adaya
  6. Oh Dan I sososo sorry to hear about Jake. Hopfully he will return to the safty of his cage and back into you loving home. 7. Good luck Char I know you will find the perfect home for her. I did the same thing for Mr. Magoo the Citron crested cockatoo. he was really sweet and such a cuddle bunny but only with woman. He was always an only bird with his mom and when she died he need to find the same kind of home. I found him a wonderful home with a woman who's male CCC had died the year before she had him for 20 years so it was the perfect match I still get updates from her and she just love Mr. magoo so much. I hope you find a wonderful home for your sweet Cockatoo also.
  8. Ah thats so great a boy. I wanted a baby boy but I got another girl. Thats not to say that I'm not totally in love with my 2 girls Tyco is so special because she's a rescue and I can give her scritches and she steps up when ever I ask and she trusts me If you knew her when I first got her and the Way she is now you wouln't think it was the same bird. and Adaya well what can I say I got her when she was 5weeks old and raised her she will play on her back in the palm of my hand she's harrness trained I can do absolutly anything with her she's my baby and I definatly wouldn't trade her for any boy now. So I have 2 lovely girls I guess Its the luck of the draw. I'm glad you have a little boy I'm very happy for you. {Communicate-000200D5}
  9. This is an awful thought but mabie Torry's previous home was not a very careing one and he didn't have perches or Toys in his cage and he got used to sleeping on the bottom of his cage because he had no place to pearch mabie they just got tierd of him or they where very poor and could afford to feed him and let him go and thats why they never bothered to look for him. I know thats an awful thought but there are people out there that do these kinds of things. I love the pictures of Torry he's very beautiful. I'm glad he's taken such a likeing to your husband know you both hhave beautiful African Greys to love. If whatI said was the case then mabie thats why he thought toys where aleins and why he doesn't know how to step up or anything. I really really like his new name too<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/30 13:40
  10. Jeepers was up early with Adaya and I while the other bird where still sleeping. I always get Adaya up 1 hour before the others so I can spend some quality time with just her and I. this morning Jeepers was up so he was watching Adaya doing her recalls. he was getting so excited and I could just tell he wanted to get some of that Praise I was giving Adaya every time she flew to me. He was actually climbing up to the top of his cage and streching towards me like he was going to take off any minute. so I asked him if he wanted to fly to me I said come on then fly to me and put my hand up so he could but he just couldn't get up enough nerve. I think if I let him watch for a few more mornings he will be flying to me just like Adaya does.<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/05/30 00:44
  11. My dogs are exactly the same way and Tyco constantly feeds them she takes what she wants like the peas inside the snap peas and throws the rest to the dogs who can't gobble it up fast enough if she drops somthing through the grate and it lands on the news paper my dogs are so small they just stick their head in there and grab it Tc is a 3lb papplion and Gloria is a 5 lb Shith-zu so they are tine little things. Destiny my collie on the other hand weighs in at 75lbs but he doesn't beg from the birds he's 14 yrs old now and is way to dignafied to be caught begging from a bunch of birds:laugh:
  12. Addactive is not the word for it be very careful its easy to get in over your head I have a few but I'm at my limit. I have to restrain myself when I see a beautiful bird that needs a new home despartly. Its called MBS Multipal Bird Syndrome and many bird owners have it some with no control they start with one and end up with 20 or more please learn your limit and stick to it. I only work 24 hours a week and with 5 birds I just have enough time to give them all quality one on one time and I'm lucky because they all get along really well so I don't have to worry to much when they are all out at the same time and I have 3 on me at a time giving them all scritches and love. its not like that for most bird owners so please be careful.
  13. She is so cute I love her new playgym she looks like she's in heaven with all those toys and fn thing todo what a great job of making her a new play gym and what a wonderful Idea I think I'll make one for my Indian ring Neck he would just love it to peices.
  14. Shes cute when I got Adaya I had to go to Kelonia and that about a 3 1/2 hour trip from where I live anyway I also brought back two baby Senagals for someone that lives close to me they where only 4 weks old also they where so cute I just fell in love with them both of the ones I brought back had no toe nails the parents had biten them off poor little thing there was one left in that clutch that still needed a home I almost brought him back with Adaya I could have had him for 100. dollars but I just couldn't do it I'm at my limit for birds.
  15. I have a Severe Macaw and although they are smaller than the blue and golds they do eat aboutthe same kind of diet he eats a lot of nuts in his diet brazil nuts being his favorite he love almonds and walnuts also. Mine is a rescue and was abused ithink as well as being neglected but I find even when he is trying to be aggressive most of the time he's jst bluffing so when he does actually make contact with his beak he doesn't bite hard. he just love human interaction and the more he get the happier he get he sits in his cage and say are you happy I'm happy its so cute he has a wonderful vocabulary and even knows his manners. Macaws are great birds but the blue and Golds as much as I'd love one they are to large for my house so I settled for a smaller Macaw and he has such a sweet personality if the Blue and Golds are anything like him your friend will have a wonderful companion.

    Poor Conure

Thats awesome that you do that for bird I have also rescued a few birds and rehomed them to wonderful new homes. I found a beautiful citron crested Cockatoo once in a grage sale. his mama had died and he was 25 years old a wild caught I was told by her sons who where selling all her belongings includeing her bird for what ever they could get and to anyone that would pay the price. this bird didn't like men at all but was the cuddlest sweetest thing with woman. I bought him for 600. includeing the huge cage he had which was probubly worth at least that. I took him home with me and probubly would have kept him except he hated my daughter and would attack her everychance he got. I could just lock him up when my daughter was around because she was around all the time he also didn't like my other birds either he was very set in his way and was used to living a life with just him and his mama and would not tolerate anything else so I found a woman that had just lost her male citron crested cockatoo the year before she had him for 20 years and she found him dead in his cage one morning she was absolutly devastated the vet said he had a heart attack. The bird was not sick when she put him to bed so to find him dead in the morning was very hard. So Mr. Magoo went to live with her and I keep an eye out and get updates all the time they are in love and she has never been happier and the same is true for Mr. Magoo. I also have rescued a couple cockateils and found them homes with lots of love. so we are alike in allot of way. I almost bought a cherry head conure a while ago unil I came to my sences and said no more. I;m at my limit at the moment but I do love them all soso much Karma to you for haveing such a warm heart for our feathered friends
  17. Isn't he just the most beautiful bird you've ever seen. He's molting like crazy and still looks awesome.
  18. Thats so great I love the video he's growing up so quickly. Sounds like hes got a very good cheering section also. With your Quaker cheering him on he might be talking sentences in no time. You just go ahead and post as many videos as you like and we will keep enjoying them you can bet on that
  19. I don't understand some peoples logic if she can't give an animal the things it need to be happy and well adjusted then why not give it to someone that can. You have yo convince her that its in the best intrest of the bird and she must put her own feelings aside in this matter and do whats best for her child and the bird. let her know that with the right person her bird will have a wonderful life she can't just give the bird to just anyone its got to be to someone that has bird experiance and that knows how to deal with a bird that is cage territorial but it can be done. Tell her you will help her to find an appropriate home for the bird. she really need to let go of him for everyones sake and especialy for her child he could really get hurt if the bird decides to really bite hard.
  20. If Torry is still very young then thats why he sleeps at the bottom of his cage Adaya will still sometime sleep at the bottom of her cage but not to often now since I took the blanket away Adaya is 16 weeks old How old is Torry.
  21. Minumum size shoud be no smaller than 32inches wide 24 inches deep any. Smaller and your bird won't be able to open his wings without them getting stuck between the bars the cage. Luvparrots mentioned is a beautiful cage and perfect for your grey please buy the largest cage you can after all you wouldn't want to be locked up in some tiny room where you couldn't even spread your arms.
  22. That is great that he has stopped plucking I think that's a sure sign that gil is a very happy content parrot and it's all thanks to you and the wonderful new home you have given him. Good for you and thanks for the great update. Mabie when you get a chance you could show us a few pictures of him with his lovely new feathers. Keep up the good work and don't forget to keep us updated we do love to hear all the news.
  23. Thats sooo funny I know just how it feels though when you want to find a little hole to crawl into because of the embarasment The first time I took Fergie in for a well bird check up she really embarased me. She was raise in a home where there was allot of fighting going on all the time. She hates men to this day anyway I took her to the vet and she was getting her nails clipped as well I was waiting in the waiting room for her to get her nails finished and of course the waiting room was full and all of sudden all you can hear you stupid Bi#*ch get your F*#@kin hands off me. I wanted to crawl into the nearest hole and die. The whole waiting room was laughing and looking strait at me. I explained that I had just rescued her from a horrible home. So I do know how you felt it is funny when you look back on it though.I hope Ziva's spot on her liver turns out to be just a seed I'm glad everything else looks good.
  24. Not to worry about not likeing her Adventure pack a few fun outings will change her/his mind. He comment was funny though I must say. Ihope you don't have to many problems converting her diet good luck with that. I know how you feel about the name on the Dna certificate because on mine it says Shady African Grey Congo and after I found out she was a girl I changed her name to Adaya so now she has the wrong name on her Certificate Oh well nothing can do about it I'll just say its her middle name if anyone asks:laugh: Adaya Shady Edward how does that sound good enough to me.
  25. I asked Jeepers to step up and usually he runs into his cage just to let me know he doesn't want to. But today whe I asked he went up onto the top of his cage and stepped up onto my arm then up onto my shoulder I had to get my daughter to take a picture even though I hadn't combed my hair or washed my face yet so excuse my appearance and be proud of my very good boy I'm really proud of him I gave him a big gold star and 3 almonds.
