  1. I live in the country and have mice every year. I use d-con with good results. YES, make sure the birds can get no where near the poison. I hate to mention it, but, make sure you check around the house daily for a dead mouse. They will most of the time go out to die, but once in a while they will be inside and you don't want the birds to find them first.
  2. At least in Texas you have a chance of a reprieve once in a while. I am in Ohio and it is going down to 9' tonight! I don't think my babies will see the sun until April or May.
  3. THANK YOU so much for taking in two adult, needy birds. I have no experience with Zons, but wanted you to know you are appreciated!!
  4. Cold Showers! LOL How old is Dorian? My 9yr.old(I think) TAG hasn't started his hormonal thing yet. Having gone through it with my Sun Conure, I am NOT looking forward to it with a TAG!
  5. I think all you can do is wait and see. Prepare both sons that Sophie may not react well. Have the humans prepared and let Sophie do her thing. I can see nothing you can do to change Sophie's reaction. She is one lucky girl to have so many people love and interact with her. I wish my family would even want to interact with Peanut!
  6. Oh dear, please let us know what the vet says. Prayers said.
  7. My TAG is Peanut. My granddaughter named him, since she is to inherit him I let her name him. I would have to look it up, but I think he was 10 last month. I have had him since he was 3 months, but not weaned yet at 3 months.
  8. Other than being on the computer right now, I am attempting to knit my daughter an Irish (Fisherman knit) sweater. I figure if I tell people I am doing it, I just might actually finish it! LOL

    Five Facts

Wow, murfclck, I don't think that is boring at all! 1- born & raised in upstate NY. 2 - was in the Salk vaccine trails and got the placebo - got polio that summer. 3 - worked in Day Care most of my adult life 4 - when I adopted my daughter it was the first single adoption in my county. 5 - I had an aunt that had 23 kids - I know it is not me but I couldn't think of anything else interesting about me! LOL
  10. I agree - you never should allow a parrot on your shoulders! LOL look at my avatar. Seriously, you have to know your bird and decide for yourself if and when they are allowed there. Peanut also likes my left shoulder best. Wonder if it has to do with anything about them or just a thing they picked one day. Peanut also likes to sit on my head, especially when I am on the computer. From there he can lean down and pick my glasses off my head! This has become a game and he knows he is only allowed to do this with my computer glasses.
  11. So glad it all worked out OK. Especially glad that Gabby is OK. I remember waking up to blood all over Peanut's cage one morning too. He had a nose bleed! I got it stopped and called the vet who said they couldn't do anything more than I was doing and to push sweet potatoes and carrots because they have clotting properties. I was on anything forum then and when I told them that the vet said to push those things someone thought it meant to push them up his nose! LOL
  12. Welcome. Such a cutie!! I also have a Sun Conure and a Tiel, but that is where I stopped! LOL Do you take your baby to work with you or is someone home to take care of one feeding while you're gone? Looking forward to watching your little one grow.
  13. AWW how cute. It is wonderful to have two that can get along.
  14. So great! Loved the video. Finding Rio sounds like a movie! LOL
  15. Sorry. Since Peanut only says Helwo and lov yo, there is not a bad thing to report. My Sun, Skittles, does do a great job of copying my burps though.
  16. Happy belated Hatchday Talon!! looking forward to seeing all the fun you had.
  17. Welcome Shannon and Peatree. You did the right thing in leaving his cage the same as it was before. As stated before, it will take time. It will most likely take lots of time. I am thinking months, if not years. Now, there will be small steps as you go, but it will be a long time before you have a happy, healthy Grey. You are doing great with giving him new and better food. I would go a bit heavier on fresh veggies. Remember no salt or sugar in what you give him. Also, no caffeine, fruit seeds or peanuts. Thank you for taking in a teenager - we all know how difficult they can be! LOL Looking forward to hearing all about your adventure.
  18. Sun Conures are not naughty - just always in trouble!! LOL They are the clowns of the parrot world. I know caiques think they are, but the Suns really are! Mine is Skittles which is a much over-used name (he came with the name). I like rainbow or Hazey.
  19. Thanks for the laugh. Pearl knows how to make her Grandma feel wanted!! Poor Grandma, but at least now she knows what to do if it happens again. Though I think Pearl will come up with something different next time.
  20. Congrats!! Hope he gets front cover!
  21. My birdies and I are sooo jealous!! The door is wonderful!!
  22. Sophie is just being a good daughter! LOL Hopefully your hair dryer is free from Teflon. If not, just be careful about how much you blow dry her. I would love to be woke up to Peanut landing on my bed, but he is caged at night. Wonder what he would do if I stopped caging him??
