  1. Everyone has given you good advice. Boy, the length we go to for our babies - even underhanded sneaky ways to get them to play on something! LOL
  2. Wow, I bet you are beside yourself. I got Peanut when he was about 3 months, still on 2 feedings a day. He is still very attached to me at age 8. Now I know this is just the beginning of his maturing years, so the story is still being written. When we brought him home he was in love with my granddaughter and would do anything to be with her - she was 7 at the time. But, since she doesn't live with me his affection did change to me. All I can do is tell you my story. This doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean that yours will be the same. Greys are all just so different. LOL
  3. Welcome McKenzy and Opi. She sounds like a doll in feathers. How long has she owned you? We do love pictures. I love the clicking for herself. Nothing like being sure of yourself! LOL
  4. Greytness, at least your kids know how important they were - it took 4 fids to replace them! LOL
  5. LOL - I don't think any of them NEED that command !!
  6. Little stubborn aren't they?? LOL They will do what they want to do when they want to do it! And somehow that is more than fine with us!! LOL
  7. Poop alert!! Poop alert!! Too cute. It is my Sun Conure that poops in his water not my Grey.
  8. They most certainly take words from one context and move them (usually correctly) to another. It is just another thing that proves their brains work to sort out meanings similar to a human brain.
  9. I am so glad she is home. What a relief that must be. You are doing such a wonderful job in keeping her going. You should be commended. Thank you so much for keeping us updated on her progress. Praying for her and you for your future together.
  10. I don't know about how to get a fighting Grey into a sink, but I have one suggestion. I know others say use cold water and I always did with my birds and they hated the bath/shower/spray. Until one day I tried it with warm water. Now it didn't make too much difference to my Sun Conure, but my TAG changed almost immediately. Now, he still doesn't love the shower, but doesn't yell or fight me at all and tolerates the shower until I take him out - even letting me raise his wings to make sure his back gets soaked. He doesn't play and raise his own wings as others do, but at least it is not a terrible ordeal either.
  11. Peanut will shake, wave, give kisses and most importantly (at least to me) go back into his cage.
  12. I am so sorry for your loss. Are you near Saranac Lake? Having been born and raised in Rochester, I understand completely when you say most people think a mile north of NYC is 'upstate'. LOL I should tell you I don't know of any breeders in NY, but do know about Saranac Lake. Sorry,
  13. My Grey and my Sun have the same cage - they don't live in the same cage, just the cages are the same LOL. My Grey will continually go into my Sun's cage and eat and sometimes the Sun will be in there too. But, the Sun has never even tried to go into the Grey's cage!! I really think he would be dead if he tried. But, they both wait their turns when they are on my shoulders and I am giving out treats. They have never tried to push out the other one. I just love it.
  14. Welcome. The Grey pictures with me is a TAG. While you can't see his tail, you can see the lighter color of his beak. Glad you and Timmy landed with us.
  15. Welcome to you and Gizmo. Looking forward to hearing all about his growth and the ways he works his magic with your heart!
  16. I am glad it is working for you. I know nothing about it so have no other opinion. I do know it is a worry when one of our babies over preen.
  17. Such an exciting time!! My TAG got a handfeeding at night until he was over 4 months old, so I say YES! give that baby a warm night feeding - as long as she is eating the good stuff during the day. Start the harness training as soon as the baby is secure in being handled and play with. Before the harness if you want to take her out use the small cage. Just because she doesn't fly please don't take her out without the cage or harness. As for the cage, I think I would go with what you think she is most comfortable with. You will be able to tell if she is stressing. Best wishes and please keep us posted as the day finally comes.
  18. Happy Hatchday HRH!! I enjoy it when my human rubs the bottom of my feet - she has never tried kissing them. LOL Peanut
  19. What a wonderful hatchday present!!
  20. Right now the only 'training' she needs is to come to you and enjoy being with you. You can work a bit on having her step from one hand to the other. This helps them learn how to step up on command. Give her little treats when she does what you want, or give her lots of praise and love. Once you have established a good relationship with her you can begin to train her a bit more.
  21. I hope they throw the book at her. Sorry to say I know a women like this one. She has the money to buy almost anything she wants. So she buys animals and then she doesn't take care of them. She has killed 3 Tiels and some Keets. When she had dogs she couldn't be bothered to let them out or make sure they had food and water. Her daughter finally put her foot down and told her she couldn't get any more animals and even went to the pet shops near her and told them they were not to sell to her. Of course she went to the other side of the city and bought another dog!! She almost killed this one too, but she moved into a new apartment and the neighbors help her with it so it has survived for three years!! This women just can not do anything for anyone but herself. Sorry for the rant but I guess I just needed to vent.
  22. Welcome. Annie is beautiful!! I am so glad you came and asked about her feathers. The best way to learn is to ask questions.
  23. When Peanut had an upset I gave him a small amount of ginger. He liked it in warm water. It did help his stomach.
