  1. Welcome. When we say time we mean lots of time. Sometimes it takes months or even years, but the time you invest is sooo worth it!! Try spraying her with different intensity and different temperatures. My TAG likes his showers warm. My SUn likes his cool - of course they couldn't be the same! LOL Bella will come around as long as you show her that you will be patience and give her the love. Pictures please.
  2. That pic is amazing and just a little scary!
  3. That is so cute. At least it was a very respectable voice from her past. LOL
  4. Oh I somehow doubt you will have to leave her behind. I think there is a very strong possibility she will remember you. Just be prepared that she also may be angry with you. This most likely will only last a short time once she is home with you. Maybe I am selfish too, but I think you did the right thing by her.
  5. I agree. Mine like to yell and startle the other one - then they both take off!
  6. So glad you were bent over Neytiri and could protect her. We also have hawks all over here. I only take mine out in cages and never leave them for a minute. It is something we all have to be careful about everywhere we may take our babies.
  7. Congrats to everyone!! Peek is looking good for the rest of his life.
  8. Not that they are in the least bit temperamental!! LOL
  9. Thanks everyone. Nancy, there were many, many stern, bad Mommy days before he began to enjoy getting wet. With Peanut, I found that real warm water was the answer. My Sun likes his cold. The Tiel doesn't seem to care about temperature - just get it over as fast as possible! LOL
  10. ADORABLE!! Go easy on the celery, the 'sting' can cause some trouble. Other than that you are doing great! Her leg looks sooo long in the last picture - too cute.
  11. Sorry this is so late, but, HAPPY HATCHDAY NALA!!
  12. This weekend I gave Peanut a good soaking shower. As soon as the water hit his back he lay his head on my arm and closed his eyes. By the time my granddaughter got the camera to take the picture he had opened the eyes to see her. LOL
  13. How great!! Peck is one lucky bird. May I suggest that when you make the first meeting you do it in a place that neither bird considers 'his' space. Meeting in a neutral place will give neither an advantage. Have one or both of them in hand where they can not attack the other. Have toys and treats for them. Always keep them in arms reach as you start to trust them. I so hope they at least like each other!! LOL
  14. I agree, take a break. I also have a couple of harness' that my Sun Conure chewed through. Does it say anything about a refund. If it does, they will give you one. When I have to put the harness on Peanut I have to have help. He hasn't had it on in a couple of years, since we stopped going to schools.
  15. Adorable! Please - spoil to your heart's content! As long as you set some boundaries, time out with you will not spoil him - at least that is my opinion. LOL
  16. Hi and welcome. I use Roudybush California blend. It is the first pellet all my fids would eat. I get it in mini. With the harness, make sure you check for wear and tear often. Even though they say it can't be chewed through, I have two that say otherwise. LOL My Sun Conure did them in. I also have a TAG, he is eight years old. I say he, but we have not had him DNAed.
  17. Go Rohan!! You are right, people do disagree on pellets. I like to keep a small amount in their cages at all times. That way if something should happen and I am not home on time, I know they will have something to eat. Just make sure the rest of the diet is good and you have it made!
  18. Nice Owwie! Watch it when Garcia gets use to it he will try to chew it off. Hope you heal fast.
  19. Can I assume the feather broke in the blood area? Can you trim it close to the blood so there is less of it to catch on something. Other than that, I have no idea.
  20. Nancy - that is fine! Everyone has to know their own limits. But, you are a woman, so changing your mind is also allowed! LOL I know I want more birds and a dog so bad! I also know I don't have the energy or the money to take care of them properly. So - no more animals for me. I get my doggie fix by puppy sitting my nephew's dog. You will help Ollie over the rough spots and life will be good again soon.
  21. They may be a little cage territorial - meaning they don't want to share. Try using a large stick to put in between them when they fight. A spray bottle should not be used as a punishment. If they have bitten when they step up it may just be their way of making certain your hand/arm will stay put when they step on it. If they haven't broken the skin it means they are not THAT scared. Yes, it will go very slow especially for you. A month to us seems a long time, but to them it is just a blink of the eye. Plan on a year to work with them. When you get to a year and look back you will see how much you have improved their lives. You are doing great.
  22. I am so sorry. I somehow missed this days ago. Zoey was loved and knew it. That is the best testimony you can have. ((HUGS))
  23. Yes, I make it for myself and take a small bowl out before I add milk and sugar for me. The small bowl goes to the birds. If your bird is a baby you may want to make it a little thinner. Just a little.
  24. I clip with a dog's nail clipper. Tried the rotating file but the noise got to my Grey. The Sun's nails aren't as heavy so I can use either cat scissors or the dog's nail clipper. My Tiel gets the cat nail scissors.
  25. Mine also like oatmeal. I make it with cinnamon. Not sugar and cinnamon, just cinnamon. Sometimes a little unsweetened applesauce too.
