  1. I agree, contact the new owners to find out if all is well. Then ask if they will contact you if they ever want to re-home the birds again and give you first chance. So sad.
  2. I agree Dave, not selling unweaned babies is the way to go. That said, I wouldn't have Peanut if that law were in effect eight years ago. LOL Just because it works sometimes doesn't make it right! I wish people had a bit of common sense anymore.
  3. OH how cute. Can you say nothing says loving like something from the oven with your Grey!! LOL
  4. It sounds so wonderful for both Smokey and your family. Yep, 3 year olds and Greys are rarely a great mix. LOL But, with patience I think you will make it work. I also think you will work out the 'on the hand' issue. I bet it was the safe spot when he was in the car. Smokey is one lucky Grey!!
  5. Welcome. She is so beautiful, especially considering her past life. It sure sounds like a story book ending.
  6. Welcome. Pictures are always welcome. Can you visit your baby as s/he grows?
  7. What a great story!! You and your family and Smokey are meant to be together. Looking forward to more Smokey stories. Hopefully, one in which he accepts that third child. LOL
  8. Of course it will become your child!! LOL You were very right in the description between CAG and TAG birds. I have a Timneh solely because we fell in love with him. We had no opinion on which we wanted. Have you found a breeder or are you planning on a rescue?
  9. Welcome. Yes, they can give a nasty bite - but it will heal! And Judy is right. Learning how to 'read' them helps avoid the bites. Your baby is gorgeous.
  10. Welcome Sharaye. Doing research before getting a Grey is a great idea. Spend some time reading through the posts on here and you will learn a lot of what it takes to make a home in which a Grey can flourish. You say you want a Congo, may I ask why not a Timneh? Just curious.
  11. Glad the last pictures show a much less red area, but I agree, a vet visit is in order - just to make sure. Please let us know what the vet says - thanks.
  12. Yeah Timber!!! Now you know that scary thing isn't going to kill you - would you please trust your Mom the next time! LOL
  13. Mine didn't say a word, lots of noises and sounds, until age 8 - so hang in there you have lots of time! LOL
  14. Those wings will grow out - that is if the store didn't REALLY ruin them. My baby came with worse looking clip I had ever seen - it took almost a year, but his did grow out and he did learn to fly. Learning to fly that late comes with problems too! But within another 6 months he was fully fledged and flying and landing great. Your baby is worried about falling off your hand because it knows it can not glide. Poor baby. Hold him close to you body and maybe even put your other hand gentle on his back may help.
  15. Been there and done that a couple of times. I cry and worry all the time I am gone! Once was for 7 days and the last was for 4 like yours. Other than being a bit angry at me when I came home - all mine did just fine. And their stand-offness only lasted a day. I did make a couple of special toys that the person taking care of them could put in the cage every couple of days. As long as they have someone to talk to them and take care of them a couple of times a day they will be just fine! Oh, by the way, the first time I left I had to hire a stranger to take care of them because the whole family went together - that REALLY bothered me.
  16. That is a BIG step forward. Just stay aware because she could revert without warning.
  17. How cute! Such a brave young man!
  18. I am from upstate NY so understand what you are saying about drivers!! Spraying and then hopefully bathing might be a big help to get her to stop chewing. foraging and shredding toys are esp. good for distraction. Hopefully it is something a good home will cure.
  19. Have you thought about acting like a two year old and see what she would do? LOL
  20. Welcome Shara. Nice flock of Greys!! I love the name Willie Wonka! too cute. How are you holding up with all the snow in NYC area?
  21. Welcome Sabina and Rio. He seems to be looking longingly to the outside of his cage. LOL He is a doll. How did you come to get him? Is he your first parrot? I am looking forward to more stories about his antics.
  22. drip drip plop plop oh how much fun it is!!
  23. That sounds too cute. Yeah, where are the pics???
