Sorry i havent been on to reply, Thankyou all for the kind words. and yes, i know the risk. And trust me, that was a rare, VERY rare time Smokey will not be under cover when outside. His out door play land is under construction as i type, would have been done if i wasnt working so much and the crap rain we have been getting..

This was the last hurdle and it has been jumped..lol.. Smokey stepped right up on Jaxin our 3yr old while we were out playing.

Well im battling a bug or something so my wife and kids have been helping with Smokey. So about 20 mins ago i took Smokey to the kitchen with me while i unloaded the dishwasher and thought to myself, i wonder how smokey is with water, plus he is past due for a birdie bath.... Welp my pinky finger would like to announce Smokey HATES water.... Man he latched ahold and wouldn't let go... So there iam with no voice due to the bug trying to calmly tell smokey its okay and to please let go.. He finally let go and just gave me the "oh man dad im sorry look" So Smokey is now on his cage top enjoying a fortune cookie before bed. I blame myself not him, I should have started off with a mist bottle... This is a learning process for all of us. and a laugh for most of you that have been there done that..lol

1) His beak is chipping, from what i see in photos of CAG's it seems normal, is this right? 2) I cant seem to get him to play with anything. I've bought many different kind of toys and even tried some home items....nothing 3) The older gentleman must have had a truckers mouth. Day by day smokey is starting to talk more, and this morning we heard probably every word except the F-bomb, is there a way to correct that?? Thanks everyone. One day at a time..... Just got home after 16 hrs of working and there is smokey.. So i pick him up and check my email and facebook, and look where he decided to relax... 2nd time in the past 2 weeks of him being here... woohoo

Just wanted to check in, work has been CRAZY.. everything is still going great. Smokey is opening up more and more every day. He says so many things from the past owner. only 2 bad words, but not the "major" one thank goodness. Going to start working on his outside play area hopefully next weekend. out our kitchen door we have a area about 20x20' that im going to mesh/screen in so he can hang out there with us, since the summer time that is where we all hang out when we are home. Will post photos either when its completed or maybe while im doing it.

Gotta get used to this getting up at 430am to start his "chop blend" for breakfast. and god forbid if i walk out of the living room where he is, "hey" "hello" says smokey....and not in a 5am voice..lol

Welp I just learned something else. Smokey doesn't seem to like "green" veggies ie; green bells or jalapeno's. I went to hand him a jalapeno and wanted nothing to do with it, but had a yellow bell in my other hand and he went right after that.. Tell me if this is a good idea or not.... I wanted to take a few bells,carrots,and a jalapeno and cut them up into like a very chunky salsa to give him a variety all at once.. or should i just keep it one at a time? or doesn't it really matter?

I know he will accept him once he grows up alittle, he is only 3 and has a fire cracker in his rear end. Smokey is okay with him by allow him to pet him but just wont step up and i know it will take some time. Smokey seems to have a little trust or feeling safe issue tho, he will not come to my shoulder or like if im sitting on my recliner he will not get off of my hand and hang out on my leg or chest. He has a very few times, but wants right back on my hand ASAP. But i can put him on the floor and he will walk around and explore with no problems and he seems to talk ALOT more when he is walking around the floor. Its only been a week and 1 day so We have ALOT to learn about each other... But its going to be a BLAST.. I will update often, so if you get tired of hearing Smokey stories everyday let me know..lol

Okay cool. So far he has only had a small and i mean small piece if banana and a small chuck of apple, i was afraid of the sugars, but eating peppers like they are going out of style.

Just learning yesterday and today that Smokey really enjoys banana/bell pepper/apple/carrots. Now where I got him from they had him on a seed diet and i know thats not the greatest when it comes to mold and all, so im starting to ween him off that onto fresh items and this week im going to start him on pellets. My question when it comes to the fresh items how mush is just enough and not too much? or do i just dice up a mixture and put it in his bowl and let him eat til he is done then remove the bowl?
