It might be. Watch the next few and see what they look like and go from there. I know my birds will have a few bubbles once in a while. I have always assumed it was something they ate or drank, since they don't seem to last more than a couple of times.
Tell her! Say gentle or not so hard and remove yourself from the play for a minute or two. Go back and if she still is too rough repeat, but stay away longer. If she is really enjoying the play she will soon learn that a hard bite will lose her a playmate.
Welcome. You say he is handicapped - HOW ?? Blind - foot missing - wing broke - there are so many types of handicapped. My baby has malformed mucous membranes and doesn't breath right and has shortest of breath when flying. So if you can tell us more about your baby some of us will surely have some advice for you.
Welcome. He might need a good bath/shower. You might try and see if that helps his constant preening.
How did he come to 'fall' into the snow??
Is he clipped?
I am so glad that he has a new home to flourish in.
Welcome. Mahi sounds too cute. Please feed him his pellets and fresh fruits and veggies. He should be given pellets to have to munch on at all times. Fresh foods at least twice a day in small amounts that he can eat up in a short time. At six months he is still a baby and needs his food at regular times.
Try and see if he will step up onto your hand. When he does this it will be easier to retrieve him when he is out of the cage. Start teaching him to return to the cage and you will have no trouble managing him when you want him back in the cage.
I agree - it is nice that they let us think we are in charge! LOL Since I am 4'10' almost every place in my home is higher than me! LOL I, too, have trained them to come on command so I have no problem getting them down if I need to. I do think since Peanut (TAG) has become cage territorial I might have a problem reaching my hand up to him. Glad I don't have to find out!!
Life holds no guarantees. This is especially true when dealing with parrots. If you keep a routine where you both do all the things needed for him, i.e. feeding, cleaning and playing, maybe you will be some of the lucky ones where you both are favorite people. But, Breezy will have the last say in that.
A small thing to try is giving him a reward when he does go into his cage without biting. I tried this and now my two go back into their cages on command - OK sometimes it takes telling them 2 or 3 times, but this is better then getting bit in the attempt. I use a small piece of almond because it is one of their favorites.
I allow Peanut on my shoulder when I am at the computer because if he is on my hand I can be sure of a bite!
Yep, mine show their anger whenever I am gone for more than a day. Which isn't very often. This last time was the first time that I saw some of Peanut's (TAG) aggression shown to Skittles (SUN). It happened only once, but that was one time too many!!
I sooo agree that the Suns must have gone through the personality line a few times!! I fell in love with Skittles (he was already named) the minute I saw him. I think the feeling was mutual. He also does not like anyone else and has to stay in his cage when my daughter and granddaughter come over. The only time I have had a bad bite from him was during his first hormonal season. He right now is sleeping inside my shirt. My TAG is sitting on the arm of my chair. They do tolerate each other very well. Peanut (TAG) can sometime be a bully, but never any serious attacks to Skittles.
I am so glad everything went so well. It is funny because I had to leave my flock for the weekend too. I could only get someone to come in once while I was gone. Peanut (TAG) is the only one of the three that gets mad at me. But, he is fine now - takes him about a day to 'get over it'.LOL
As for the food. IF you want to go that route - I would leave only the pellets during the day, but feed him food you know he will eat a couple of hours before bed so you know he will have a full tummy for the night.
Don't you just love that "are you trying to kill me" look!!
This was my keyboard after Peanut got at it a few years ago. I think there were two keys I never did find. LOL
I don't have a book in the house that doesn't have chew marks.
I remember when in grade school I handed in many papers all chewed around the edge because our Keet loved to be on the floor and 'help' with out homework.
