  1. Welcome and I also wish to thank you for your service. I would try to stick with a name that sounds at least a little similar to Rebel. Tribble, trouble, Debel?? Fable, you get the idea. She is a beautiful young lady.
  2. OH that is so bad it hurts!! LOL
  3. Welcome!! Great story. ((hugs)) to your family for taking in Jacko and giving him such a wonderful home. He is one very lucky bird!!
  4. Welcome Buckeye!! I was also going to ask you if you are an O-H-I-O Buckeye. Will you get to visit your baby while s/he is growing up?
  5. Beautiful. I love the albino TIELS. I had a white one once with lots of yellow on it that I just loved.
  6. Yes, some of them are what is called closet talkers. As soon as we look at them they stop. My Peanut will only talk to me when he is behind me. LOL As for the harness, I had the same problem. I started to have some one else, with gloves on, hold his feet while I put the harness on. I know that is not the best way, but we had to get to school and he was fighting me that day. I would stand him on the back of a chair and have the other person hold his feet. Worked great for us. But he still hates the harness!!
  7. Hello and Welcome!! When the bird picks you - it is always a good start!! With a CAG you just have to go a bit slower in introducing new items and people. As far a school is concerned, I would be very wary. It would only take a moment, when your eyes were off the bird, for a child to decide to "pet" her. This could definitely lead to bites and that would not be good. I took my TAG to schools. But we went together and of course, not being the teacher, I could keep my attention on my bird at all times. Now, he loved to 'perform' for the kids - hated the harness - but loved the kids! LOL Looking forward to pictures. When you can take your eyes off your baby long enough to find the camera!! LOL
  8. Yep, give him small amounts of each that way it is also easier for you to see what is eaten. Well, at least what is played with LOL. You can always increase the amount if you see it is going before the day is done. We do need to see some pictures of your baby. Please.
  9. having only one bird experience, I am no expert! LOL But, if you can't get hold of your Vet, I suggest you stop the morning feeding/or give just a spoonful. Then feed as much as he wants a night. That way you can be sure he goes to bed with a full tummy, while leaving him to eating other things during the day. If he still doesn't eat either well - make sure you get the VET!!
  10. Chezron, VStar Mama has given you some good advice. Don't try to be everything to everybody. Right now you need to be for you and your parrots. Keep going every day and soon you will be looking forward again. I am so sorry you are going through such a hard time right now. Come here and get things off your chest once in a while if it helps. Prayers coming.
  11. Hi and welcome. My TAG took his night handfeeding until he was over 6 months old. He was only taking a small amount at that time and I was going away for a few days so I took him off that last feeding. He did, however, take oatmeal or cornmeal made warm at night for a while after that. I understand what you mean when you say you enjoy it, I some days wish mine was still handfeeding! LOL I think, if he is eating so well, you could cut down on the noonish feeding a little and see if he objects. That would be the first feeding to remove as he gets older. Did I miss it?? Is Charlie a TAG??
  12. I am so sorry that this has turned into a nightmare for you. Maybe you could do something like get the breeder to help you with the vet bills. Of course, this won't be done unless you can prove Echo was ill before you took him home. I feel for you now as I remember Peanut (TAG) came home with three infections! I learned to handfeed and give shots within a week!! Peanut, by the way, is a happy healthy 8 year old now. so there may be a light at the end of your tunnel too. Please feel free to PM me if you just want to talk.
  13. My TAG just started to talk - at age 8!! I really thought he would not be able to talk because of his malformed mucous membrane, but he had other ideas. To be truthful, I AM hoping for more words to come! LOL
  14. So sorry to hear you are so sick. I agree, the Greys have a natural way of knowing when we don't feel well and they will help us feel better by being there for us in anyway they can. I must add that my Sun is just as good at this. Miss Dayo may not understand what is going on, but will be sooo happy when you return. Although she might show you some cold shoulders for awhile even though she and you will both know she is happy to see you! LOL
  15. Welcome from one retired lady to another. Looking forward to getting to know you and your Grey and shih Tzu.
  16. You might try leaving a small one near her cage. That is what I do with new toys. Only you can judge if the reaction is bad enough not to be worth trying it. Mine both love to shred the boxes!
  17. Welcome Katie. VStar Mama I was just about to mention that. I have introduced only smaller birds. First a Sun Conure to a TIEL and then a TAG to the Sun Conure (the TIEL had died by then). I made sure the first intro was in a spot that neither one considered their place. Not near either cage or a spot where they played. I held one bird while the other was free the first time - and make it short. The next time I let both birds go but had my hand always at the ready. I guess I was really lucky because both times the two got along verily well from the start. My TAG and Sun are out together all the time. I sometimes have brotherly squabbles to settle, but never anything serious.
  18. Welcome - that is a beautiful picture. Your English is wonderful! Looking forward to getting to know all of you.
  19. Welcome Joyvke. I understand the terrible with a parrot not liking anyone else. My Sun will attack anyone who dares enter 'his' domain!! My daughter has a small scar above her eye to prove it. Can't wait for pictures of your Django when he comes home.
  20. Welcome Craiggill. It seems you have two friendly Greys. To you and to each other. My advice is if you want to keep them that way, leave things as is. They love their time together during the day, but have the privacy of their own cages at night. It is the best of both worlds.
  21. Glad to hear he is making some progress. You sound as if you are in it for the haul and I applaud you for that. What is your other bird?
  22. Hi Katie. Welcome. You mentioned the other bird. Did he come with Luigi? If so, can the two see each other? If they came together, it might help to have them near each other.
