  1. I don't know if I would have taken pictures either - but I am glad this woman did. Look at the face - it is a beauty! That expression is priceless!!
  2. Peanut does make sounds when he sleeps, but he has malformed mucous membranes - so yes, I would take your baby to an Avian Vet and get him checked out.
  3. Did you watch the video that came with the harness. It goes through the steps you need to take. It is a very slow process. I was not patience enough - and we had a date at a school - so Peanut was 'forced' into the harness. He hates the harness but does love going out.
  4. Today was to be the day. Did you bring her home yet?
  5. I will add my 2 cents worth. My Peanut wasn't fully weaned until almost 5 months too. The last month was just an evening feeding - which my 2 year old Sun Conure shared. They still both enjoy an occasional bowl of oatmeal and cinnamon every once in a while - esp. in cold weather. They are now 8 and 10 yrs.
  6. Good laugh. As I think of one of my favorite pictures that now lives in a closet so as not to lose the whole frame!
  7. All birds will 'play' with their feathers sometimes. I have even had a 'fight' with Peanut over one of his. He thought I was crazy! LOL
  8. This is a great story. At least Bailey got a shower out of it!! LOL I am thinking that as long as you continue to let Bailey set the pace for your friendship you will have a long happy one!!
  9. I have noticed it in other people's posts and wondered about it. Just now I posted in a welcome thread and one of my words was doubled. I tried to go in and edit it, but it doesn't show doubled in my original post so I had no way of deleting the doubled word. Anyway you can fix this?
  10. welcome!! If she has had seven years of mistreatment (or neglect) don't expect that she will turn around in a month - but expect that with MUCH patience and love she WILL turn around. If she is in a small cage, I would suggest a large cage with at least three different perches (to relieve foot sores) and a few good toys - chew, forage and foot toys to start. Talk to her, read to her, offer her treats and try to remember that a year might seem like a long time to you, but to her it is more like a week. Please let us know how it goes when you pick her up.
  11. Welcome. I would add one more thing to think about. You said you are both retired. That most likely means you are over 65 yrs. old. Have you considered who would take the bird after you are gone. I am going through that right now. And Ray - they said the baby's name is Coco. LOL
  12. Peanut had a sleep cage when he was young, but not anymore. He stopped cooperating in going to the smaller cage, so I stopped trying to force it. My Sun and Tiel never had a sleep cage.
  13. Just like us there can be a big variety in sizes. As long as he is healthy and happy I wouldn't worry about it. He is a doll.
  14. So glad the report was good. Playing nurse to our sick little ones is no fun - I speak from experience. But, in the long run, I really think they know we are trying to help them. At least he has your daughter to 'protect' him from you ! LOL
  15. Poor baby. Prayers coming for a speedy (and not too stressful) recovery.
  16. He does look so cute. Hope it helps.
  17. You can never guarantee that two birds will be compatible. My Sun and TAG are great out together - not the best of friends, but never fight either. But others on here have the same combination and they can not be let out together. But, Suns are cuddly. They love to nuzzle into your neck and warm up in the shirt you are wearing.
  18. To a point that is true, but, if you take a right-handed child and continually hand him something and insist he uses his left hand, he will eventually 'learn' to use his left hand.
  19. That is young to be fully weaned. Yes, they will learn to grab things with their claws on their own. But if you want to hurry it up you might give him something in his mouth and then offer him something else he loves - he might reach with his claw to grab it.
  20. That might work if the sun doesn't come into the office. Mine get up with the sun no matter what the season. You haven't said if Pepper baths often. That might help his temperament a little bit too.
  21. Welcome. Nice flock you have build for yourselves. But, in my opinion you need a Sun Conure too! LOL How old is your new baby? Have you named him/her yet? Glad you found us.
  22. Welcome Marc. I have no experience (yet) with an older grey, so can only offer sympathy for the days Pepper tries to bite. He is one handsome feller.
