  1. Welcome!! Your flock sounded so much like mine - until you mentioned the B&G. I stopped at my TAG - he is big enough for my house! LOL Looking forward to hearing more about your babies.
  2. Very nice. Looking forward to seeing your hubby's project.
  3. My answer was going to be - Because they can be!! LOL
  4. Welcome!! Looking forward to hearing all about your reunion. Don't forget some pictures.
  5. My story is boring. The Sun and the Tiel came to me already named. My TAG, Peanut, was named by my granddaughter. I told her she could name the baby because she would inherit him someday. I have no idea why she choose Peanut. I have asked her but she can give me no reason. She was about 6 when we got Peanut.
  6. A Conure - no they are not grumpy at all!! LOL My Sun Conure nearly bit my ear off on his first hormonal season. But he has mellowed and I wouldn't trade him for the world. I also have a normal gray Tiel. Wonderful to have you and Cockey here.
  7. Welcome. Why are you Grumpy?? LOL You should be very happy with your new baby. Looking forward to hearing all about Cockey.
  8. A RB2 is my dream bird - but dream it will remain. I have a nephew working there now and I keep telling him a Galah won't take up too much room in his suitcase!!
  9. Beautiful!! I might success, if she doesn't like to step up on your hand, offer her your forearm. Peanut seems to like it better.
  10. I'll never forget the day I made desert for Thanksgiving. I had just moved in the first week of November. So, after dinner at my sister's house all were to come here for cake, pie and cookies. Well I left the goodies on a table with another table pushed in front of it so the dogs couldn't get to therm. WRONG I came home to three very sick dogs. Three days of vomiting and diarrhea. I am so thankful that they all survived. They were Shelties, so not very large dogs.
  11. Went to a meeting at church one night with a 'present' on my head. Oh well - just part of being owner by a parrot!
  12. I am not sure about leaving them out in freezing temperatures - his seem to do OK, I just couldn't do it. But, my house is at 67-69 in the winter and the birds seem to handle that just fine. It is a little cool for me sometimes, but I like it at night.
  13. You gave me an idea. I am going to work on O - H - I - O !! Of course, since Peanut is 8 years old and just said his first word I have a long wait!!
  14. Welcome!!! Great day when you two met. The talking when people are gone is normal. So is the shriek or two at bedtime - flock call to make sure everyone is OK. Can't wait to hear more about your adventure. Glad to see another TAG!!!
  15. Congratulations. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about your new baby.
  16. All good ideas. I am glad he is doing OK now. I have never cut my Grey's nails too short, but I have my Tiel's often. I found with them I can hold an ice cube on the nail/toe and it will stop. Not sure my Grey would let me do that.
  17. I use tiny pieces of almond for training. Both mine really like them. I don't give them almonds at any other times. They both get a good size piece when they go back into the cage on command - they are both free flying so going back into the cage is a life safer! LOL
  18. Way to GO!!! So glad you tried. Keep doing it so she knows it is part of her routine. You are doing great!!
  19. Welcome. Don't forget he is a baby so probably he will be wanting to be held and loved. Don't be afraid of giving him all the attention he wants right now. He will needs rests, but he will enjoy being with you and playing on the back of your couch or chair or table - wherever you are. So looking forward to hearing more about him.
  20. Welcome Shane. Yes, that home made cage would have been pretty, but not very user friendly. LOL Looking forward to meeting your new companion - even if s/he isn't as TAG!
  21. Sandra, I know what you mean about others not understanding. We do. I have not lost a Grey, but have lost a few dogs and Tiels. The hurt is almost indescribable. You may feel quilt about it, but somehow I doubt that Sam blames you. They have a way of understanding us better than we do ourselves! Please know our hearts break with yours. For such a small creature, the hole they leave in our hearts is so large.
  22. You are doing wonderfully!!! Just remember that a year to you doesn't seem like much more than a week to a grey. So patience is the thing you will need to work on for a while. I think, in a few days, I might try to mist her. My grey like warm water - but that is a personal thing - not all greys do. I would do a soft mist high above her and let it float down - similar to rain and see how she reacts. You can always stop immediately if she shows any thing other than an interest in it.
  23. Wonderful news. What size is her cage? I am thinking that if it fits into the cab of a truck it might be a bit small for a grey. But you have time to figure that out. I am so happy Coco is happy in her new home.
  24. That's the attitude!!! With lots of patience it will come soon!
