  1. So as many of us struggle with too much snow, roofs leaking etc...Sophie has something to say! I hired someone to rake my roof on addition, clean off the snow . STILL... some water leaking. Its along Sophies favorite gate. I warned her!!!!!!When she is on the gate, and ceiling leaks, she gets a drop on her head and she is NOT happy! She acts like someone is killing her!!! I get ROMMMMMMMMMMM. As if I don't already have problems! Nancy
  2. When Sophie came home, Max, my senior lhaso apso took one sniff and let me know " you will do!" . Adopted two new maltese pups, and Max trained them to not attack or expect her to play. ( Amazing as he was almost blind!) Long story short, its only Ollie left. They are best friends, share their food, and are supervised with meal time. Ollie loves to give Sophie his chicken, she shares her peanuts. The biggest problem with big dogs, they want to play, and can kill a grey with one swipe of the paw.So its not really a matter of them trusting, its a matter of the bigger dogs want to play and can kill the bird while not meaning too. Nancy
  3. Im thinking Jacques Derrida was high when he wrote that, and Dave was perfectly normal when he read it. LOL! What IS your IQ Dave? I know you know! Nancy
  4. Beautiful! I like them too! Im more interested in veggie bowls as with your latest thought!( I don't drink coffee, but if I did, I would buy your mug!) Nancy
  5. Yes.... I am judging! How dare you have a bird that can open a beer!!!!!! My rockstar every morning I get NOOOOO help! LOL What a smarty! ( watch the metal....they can cut themself), and that is not judging! Fate will intervene. If it was meant to be, than it was Nancy
  6. I respect that you want to stand by your agreement to be a godparent, but it wasn't to an aggressive grey. I'm with Dave on this.... you need to have experience as a grey owner. You are quite experienced with birds, and you need to consider as well their safety and well being. I would suggest seeking Grey foundations support. I am all for re-home, but the entire family including flock needs to be considered. Nancy
  7. tet024... Develop the relationship with your new grey... adding another grey for company is a bad idea! They will fight for leadership, your grey you are adopting right now has to develop trust in you, and themself. The goal for a new grey whether a baby or rescue, is to trust and love the family.LOVE themself! Sophie LOVES herself first, then loves us. She loves us all for different reasons...she is a princess! While all her needs are satisfied, and she LOVES herself, loves all the family that have been involved in her life since age two, she now can be empathetic, and cares more about us, rather than herself. She is over the top actually, and knows when any of us are injured. I recently had a head injury, my son took care of me, sent him back to school. Sophie decided she needed to sleep in my room...it was soooo annoying! Nancy
  8. Dorian... Sophie here! I have to type fast before ROM comes back! I am DYING to chew off these keys... I could do it in 20 seconds flat, but she would know. GREAT job!You are a youngster but I appreciate your attempts of destruction! Hang tight, learn to hide the evidence!!!! We have GOT to see what our other friends are going thru! I'm inviting all other greys, or other friends, to tell us what they have to do to be sneaky! Sophie
  9. Sophie was thinking the same! LOL Happy birthday guys! Nancy and Sophie
  10. Welcome! We have so much catching up to do! Nancy
  11. While I know Sophie, inside and out, can usually PREDICT her behavior, ANTICIPATE how she will respond to a certain situation, CREATE situations for her to be pleasantly surprised... she ALWAYS throws me off! I know now, not only does she rule the animal kingdom, she rules the entire family! I can't admit it to her, but I will to you all. Nancy
  12. GREAT idea bluedawg! How come we haven't seen your pottery? I am sure many of us would be interested! No lead I'm sure? Sophie likes her veggies as bread or on the grill. She will only eat veggies when we do it at dinner. If we eat it, she tries it.I have always struggled to get the kids to eat veggies, so for years I am use to grilling them. What a spoiled lot! Nancy
  13. Me too Timbersmom! Sophie at age two but from a fantastic home that recognized he didn't have alot of time to spend with her. Her daddy remained in contact for as long as I needed him. He was AWESOME! We can live thru baby bella! Oops!!!! I didn't JUST say that did I? LOL Nancy
  14. It was truly adorable! She reminded me of baby ducks imprinting on mama and rushing to keep up. He is a barefoot kiddo.... so she is very partial to his toes. Nancy
  15. So Sean home for the weekend. He is very busy, lots to do. Everytime he walked around in the family room, Sophie chased him on foot. It was funny to watch her try to keepup! He would get out of sight, and I would help her find him! LOL It was a riot to watch! ( I made him stay still, so she could find him).I'm not sure why she felt walking would be quicker then a fly by! Everytime she found him, she was relieved and did a quick toe count with kisses! Nancy
  16. No new grey! You have to develop your relationship with the grey you have! Age doesn't really matter in my opinion. Nancy
  17. Missing Marden and Jack. It is so devastating when our babies leave us. Sean came home this weekend and asked me if I was ready to get another bird and pup.He felt it was time. I can't do it....Nancy
  18. I live in Rochester, NY. Let me know what I can do for you. I also have birdie friends, that I can ask to help Nancy
  19. Harrisons is a great diet... there are many. Find a great birdstore and they will help you. Of course, they hate fruits and veggies.... Greys are permanent two year olds and spit out fresh healthy food over and over. Focus on the veggies as fruits dont offer the nutrients as the veggies. I do frezedryed thru my birdstore, as well as offer fresh. My bird likes what I am eating, because she always wants what I have! It takes forever to get a bird to eat fruits and veggies.Try birdie bread checkout recipes! We do many tricks to introduce healthy food. Nancy
  20. Annabelle ( Bella for short), or Lulu. Of course these are names that I want, but am holding back on! I want a new female puppy and one more bird. Nancy
  21. AMEN to that luvparrots! But I do appreciate that Sophie will get quiet for around five minutes when I say shhhh! LOL Five minutes, is five minutes! LOL Nancy
  22. Sidhe... as others have said, thanks for giving this bird a home. Its gonna take time for flight to happen, but it did eventually for my Sophie whom was clipped when I got her at age two. Work on diet, stepup and stepdown, introduction to family. As the trust develops and bird wants to be with you guys, then you can start practicing flight once feathers come in. We practiced flight ( once we got everything else accomplished), with one person to send off... one person to receive the bird. We have a family room the size that can fit four couches at least! Put some decals in the windows once you get to flight practice, as birds that have never flown, have a poor perception of space. We will be here to help! Nancy
