  1. Sarsota..I am intrigued by the picture of Sondheim in the planter. Have you simply added toys to an unplanted basket? Such a great picture.
  2. I am happy to report that Shadow does not have any real trouble with change! I acquired a second cage, that looked like her first, for use in the screened porch. I expected her to question this new house but she went right in. I assumed because it looked like her original cage, however, I bought 2 new cages, (different stlye) this weekend in preparation for Lola's arrival. After setting them up, Shadow has happily investigated and moved right in! Crazy girl.
  3. What a lovely flock! Welcome, this is such a greyt place I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I know we are all excited about hearing more tales from your flock.
  4. Shadow has been using her "hissing" lately. I am honestly never sure if she is hissing or simply "shushing" me! They sound just the same. I am constantly shushing the dogs, so I assume she is looking for the same response.
  5. Welcome again! This is a Greyt place!
  6. Accidents happen...that's why they are called accidents. Much better to remove the danger ahead of time. I had just received a whole set of new teflon coated pans in the months before Shadow arrived. As difficult as it was, I removed them from the kitchen altogether to prevent any accidental use. I have since discovered an Italian brand (Bialetti Aeternum) sold at Target. They have a white ceramic coating and I love them!! "The eco friendly Aeternum cookware line is free of PFOA, free of PTFE and free of Cadmium." I got mine at Target but it seems they have their own website and can be found at Amazon also.

    coco

Sweet pic of Coco. Welcome to the Grey Forums!
  8. Shadow had a spot or 2 of "chewed" featheres whe she first arrived. After a bit of time, quality food and lots of patience/love she returned to perfect feather! Hopefully in time your guy will do the same.
  9. Thoughts are with you.
  10. When I first looked, I just googled Exotic bird fair. Good luck!

  14. Welcome Janee! Love the pics of you and your new baby. Congratulations.
  15. I'll be there this am sometime.....hair piled on top of my head. sending you a pm
  16. Unfortunately, when humans get involved some of what's "natural" get lost.
  17. GREAT DAY! Spent the morning at the bird show...whoohoo. So much to see, I always get overwhelmed. I did manage to get a good deal on new cages for Shadow and Lola and a bunch of toy parts. I will be returning tomorrow to pick up a few more things!!
  18. That's comforting to know. Thanks!
  19. I have been told that Zons are notorious for falling in their cage. My theory is that their boisterous play gets the best of them with such limited space in the cage. Perhaps sin the wild, falling from a tree branch, they would have plenty of room for recovery and flight. Thoughts?? Precautions/accommodations I should make?
  20. I have been smitten with the little Rose Breasted Cockatto (Gallah). Smaller beak...bigger body. Very playful and easy going. I have been watching a little guy grow up as I have been visiting with my friend who breads all types of exotics. He has captured my heart and always seems to be a crowd favorite. You will know when the right one comes along!
  21. CLB

    Like a treasure hunt!
  22. Couldn't resist an opportunity to share these adorable playful babies that have been visiting at our house....Normal Green Cheeks
  23. I have been eagerly waiting for this show....plan to get new cages and plenty of toys!
  24. Birdie inspection number one went ok....inspectors report that we need more toys! lol I have also included a picture of the indoor version...5.5 foot tree.
  25. My thought exactly Ray....Shadow (my grey) is still very unsure about this tree but I am fairly certain Lola (PanAm) will be thrilled. I will not free flight my birds either but want them to have a space to feel "free". As I mentioned before...the room has a vaulted ceiling and I am fairly certain they would find their way to the highest spot anyway! So far the greencheeks are quite happy with the tree.
