  1. I'm a Georgia girl .....where do I get Texas paper shell pecans?
  2. I am fairly certain a snuggle hut would contribute to Shadow's nest building instinct and the hormones that go with it. Poor girl was so desperate in early spring that she carved a beautiful nest in the bottom corner of a box I was using to store extra birdie toys. She literally set up shop in there complete with cardboard shreds and all. This was NOT helpful in preventing spring hormonal surges! Just a thought. Can anyone confirm/deny the reality that some species of birds should or should not have these types of huts? Our Green Cheek LOVES them.
  3. Of course not! Maybe the new ones with the sliding mechanism?....probabley not, just more fun!
  4. Oh...not scarey dangerous, I don't think. Shadow fears them like the plague. Just scarey to her, maybe looks like a snake? She doesn't like long spaghetti strands either. EEK! lol
  5. No straws here....too SCAREY!!!! lol I am planning on trying them in toy form, maybe not so scarey??
  6. So funny....I had a chicken once with poo so blue made you wonder what she had been eating! Now that I think about it, there is a new exhibit the science museum here in town it's called "The scoop on Poop, the #1 exhibit featuring #2" I promise, I kid you not!!
  7. I think I might be building one of those as we speak. Some think corrogated cardboard, some cupcake liners, who knows what else...it's definitely not pretty!
  8. Looks greyt! You might want to add childproof outlet covers too.
  9. I would agree, plenty of pictorials on chicken poo as well!
  10. Welcome....what a great photo of you and Walter! We look forward to hearing about your adventures.
  11. Well, in the words of Mother Theresa, "God does not give us more than we can handle...I just wish He didn't trust me so much!" Obviously, you have been trusted with some special babies. Bless you for giving them a home. I thought my 5 dogs, 3 cats, 1 Green Cheek, 1 CAG, 1 Amazon, a koi pond, 2 teenagers, a husband and too many chickens was a lot. At least I only have to deal with one of them in a less than ideal health situation.
  12. Just when you think you have it bad......there is always someone who has it worse! Thanks for sharing. I can only imagine...lol
  13. Congratulations on your new little GIRL!!
  14. I would think it would depend on what type of cleaning you are having done and the type of chemicals used. When I cleaned my carpet a few weeks ago I used the old fashioned rental. Nothing more than hot water and some cleanser that I tested ahead of time that had no lingering smell.
  15. Sounds like you have had a smooth homecoming transition. Pepper is adorable and seems to be adjusting well. Keep up the good work.
  16. Seems never ending. I had just felt good about pulling it together for my CAG when we added my son's Green cheek AND my Panama Amazon. I bought ALL kinds of toy making supplies and set up the play trees. Unfortunately, I used up all the supplies, made a bunch of toys and it still looks like my poor birds have nothing! LOL Luckily I love my birds and enjoy making toys....I'm going to be busy.
  17. Crazy but.....if you can let it dry on a fabric, it pops right off and the white uroliths brush off fairly easily. I have a friend who advised me that a bit of scotch brite scrubby works great on the dried white part too. lol I suppose when you have birds there's going to be poo. : )
  18. My new Amazon baby prefers a soft rope perch for sleeping, needed a cement perch for nail management and seems to get a better grip on a thinner perch. I have noticed that she does not have super grip strength at this point. I have assumed it was a baby thing... Hope this helps! Good luck on baby coming home.
  19. I suppose.... Grey Forums wins the GOLD!!

    Hypocrite?

You are not a bad person! Take advantage of this time to work with her and train her, without her flying all over the place. Perhaps by the time her wings grow back you will decide to let her stay fully flighted.
  21. I thought normal Sun Conure weigh was 3.5 -4.5 oz.....98 grams is just 1 gram shy of the low end. Maybe he is just a small guy. I would stick with the vets opinion. If he thinks he looked good, then let yourself believe him. hugs.
  22. When was the last time he was weighed? Maybe he is just on the small side of the spectrum. Have you kept a record of his weights to compare?
