  1. I will be there! It is usually a great show.
  2. We can compare notes on this approach as I have adopted the same for Shadow. Hoping it won't take 10 years for her to trust me, but I will be waiting. I open her door and she comes out when she is ready. No stress for either of us this way! The condescending tone of the "trainer" with regard to actually respecting your bird was offensive to me also.

He's adorable. Baby pics are always so much fun. Thanks for sharing!
  4. I use lava rock and cement perches.

Welcome! We look forward to seeing pics....wish I could help with instructions.
  6. I would like to thank the moderators for doing such a good job keeping thing going. It is easy to sit back and wait to see whats happening, but the moderators here do a superb job at creating interest and I thank you for that!
  7. Wingy...this is such excellent advice. I hadn't realized it but that is exactly what I do too. My teakettle shifts to whichever burner is hot! If multiple burners have been in use I shift another pot there just to cover it up. Seems the cats have trained me well.
  8. If you are open to this guy joining your flock, I am sure you will not be disappointed. At such a young age, he won't have too much baggage. My rehomed Grey is VERY different from the baby amazon I will be bringing home soon. I can't imagine life without either!
  9. Even baby steps get you closer to the goal! Sounds like an exciting moment.
  10. Tears in my eyes as I read this post. I am so sorry for your loss.
  11. I think it's important to know how you want to use the carrier and make sure to get the right carrier for the job. This pac-o-play looks amazing for outings and walks, but would it be appropriate for overnight or extended stay? My tiny dogs have a variety of carriers depending on what we are doing....nice leather carry bag for outings (and pretending I do not have a dog), hard sided crate for sleeping and a softsided foldable crate for overnight travel.
  12. THANKS! This is good to know....I actually prefer them cooked so cooked it will be.

    Introducing....

Such exciting times! You will be great.
  14. You might just need to verify the height so that with a perch inside, birdie still has a bit of head room. I am enjoying this thread, as I am in the market for a carrier as well!
  15. Such good info! I made chop today too. Wish you were closer, I was thinking how fun it would be to make chop with a friend and share between the birds. I froze mine. Shadow LOVES wacky mac! JayD....is there a reason you cook the sweet taters? I normally share my cooked sweets with Shadow but today she was munching them raw!
  16. Since the room has a vaulted ceiling anyway.....7 feet seems like nothing. I like the theory of tired and happy. I'll be sure to keep the feed low!
  17. This is great news. I am sure you are thrilled at the progress. And to think that this is just the beginning!
  18. The kitchen is such a dangerous place...lesson learned here ten years ago when my kitten made his first attempt to cross the cooktop. He survived but still has tissue damage on the pads of his feet. No burner remains uncovered here. I still have nightmares about that one. I think this stands as an important reminder that we are all human and accidents WILL happen. As a result we need to be diligent with prevention!
  19. At this point in life, I spend too much time foraging for my stuff and that of my teenagers. Could I have mine in a cup? lol I was inspired....did some shopping myself. Sorry no pics.
  20. UGH! I am so tired of the gov't spending so much time/money snooping around my backyard. Enough already.
  21. Maybe we can all come for supper?? lol
  22. I will keep everyone up to date on the progress. I really want this space to be as enriching as possible.
  23. Welcome.....I hope you enjoy this site as much as I have. There is a ton of great info and a bunch of really nice people with real life experience to help guide you along!
