  1. Yes congrats, how exciting for you!
  2. Babalu spent the night in his travel carrier, in case we needed to grab and go. Luckily we did not. We had a lot of rain and it was really windy. My husband said everything would be fine, but I was pretty nervous, this was my first hurricane since living in Va, 2nd in my life (had one while I was stationed in Japan).
  3. Babalu will go in his carrier under normal conditions, I am just not sure if it will be easy if things got crazy.
  4. Im going to go pack my pets kits now, and also love the name on carrier!
  5. I like the idea of having them in the carrier prior to the storm. Thanks for all the different ideas and plans.
  6. All the earth quakes and bad storms have got me thinking, how would I be able to get Babalu out in case of an emergency? I have leashes by the door for my dogs and/or they would follow us out, but I'm pretty sure Babalu would not step up and get in his carrier. I would really hate to leave him behind (if I had time or a chance to try and get him) if we had another earthquake What is everyone else's plan? I guess I could just try and grab him and ignore the bites and stuff him in his carrier:confused::confused:
  7. My husband made mine, we got the big suction cups from home depot and he cut a grove in the pvc so they slid in, then he put a screw through them. I also have a fiberglass shower, and mine sticks well. We wet the walls, then stick. I do check it before I put Babalu on it to make sure they are tight. We got the idea for this perch, from this forum.
  8. FYI, the link to your site does not work.
  9. Yes, very nice cage! It looks like a good spot to put it too
  10. I have been thinking about getting one too, for short trips outside.
  11. Mine like foraging and shred able toys these days. Lately he also like to chew on different foot toys or toy parts that I put in an empty cage cup, but they sat for a couple months before he touched them.
  12. I hope she continues to improve.
  13. I can also tell when Babalu is tired, it usually happens on the weekends when we stay up later. He starts mixing his vocabulary together and makes louder sounds. He gets put in his cage around 830-9pm during the week, sometimes with an almond, then he gets covered until 630am. On the weekends it varies.
  14. I bought aluminum bake ware, but I will eventually switch to stainless steel. My pots and pans are SS, and we also have a few cast iron pans.
  15. I knew she had and loved her parrots from when she was on Celebrity Rehab, but I didn't know about this show. I would/will watch it when I can, not to many shows out there with parrots... Its interesting to me to see how others keep their birds and to see their set ups.
  16. I think this is the member that Judy is talking about. harmonicaman68.
  17. When I first got my grey he had this too. When I took him in to get his nails done they would file small amounts away. Then after doing more research and asking around, I bought a sandy perch and he groomed up his own beak to where it was smooth again. Recently he has started to get it again, but I think I need to get a new sandy perch. Here is a link to where we talked about this before. I hope this helps. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?190473-Pepper-s-beak-peeling-and-not-looking-good&p=203269#post203269
  18. I have never called anyone who is paid by the hour to give advice... You should be able to find answers to most of your questions here on this forum, by googling or just talking to any parrot owner. People have different opinions on a certain topics, so I wouldn't just listen to one person who studies parrots.
  19. Sounds like you are doing everything you can do to find him, I truly hope you get him back.
  20. Your office looks nice! I wish my husband would let me put more bird stations up in our house
  21. When I was a kid my mom took me to a ladies house who breed small birds, they were in the front yard dumping buckets of used seeds into empty buckets and had a vacuum nozzle right by where the seeds were pouring to suck out the hulls.
  22. Some birds might try and stuff food up the tube on the Lixit bottles also, you should still keep an eye on it and make sure the tube is clear in between cleanings. Also, if you do not tap the ball a few times and create the vacuum seal before putting it on the cage, the bird might not be able to get any water out. My grey like the large tube, 5/8 I believe, as the water flow is more. I had the medium tip and he seemed like he was getting made at the bottle for not getting enough water so I switched and everything is fine
  23. Mine does this too! But he does not grab his tail, he goes upside down and fights with a toy flapping his wings.
  24. I tried a cheaper bottle once, with the same kind of tip, and Babalu played with it until the bottle was empty. He would hold the lever with his tongue and all the water would drain out, hope you have better luck.
