My 18 month old actully saw it first and yelled "Baba"! She thinks all parrots are named Babalu, not just greys If its still there next week I might have to bring it home. I felt bad for leaving it, but it is kind of scary looking around the beak area...

Safe from my 16 month old bagging thing on his cage and she is safe from his beak! This is the office/my husband closet area. My husband isn't happy about Babalu being in ther due to the dander, but baba is happy! plus he just got deployed so he isn't here to deal with it!

My safe bird store. And if she doesn't have it, she usually will get it for you.

If your on a tight budget, search Craigslist. I found a new in box stainless steel cage on cl for cheaper than the above link.

If its shirt trips, I use a small plastic dog kennel. Our trip across the country, I used a little bit larger wire dog crate and used a rope perch and hung food/water dishes and a toy.

Yeah, I saw the number. I just like to use email, and was hoping they would respond that way. I'm still thinking... whether or not I will call.

Ok, the ad is still up, I emailed again with a small adoption fee. Could this be a scam maybe? Wouldn't a normal person respond? Maybe they doesn't read English?

I still haven't heard, they probably want the money.

I haven't heard back yet, and I did send a second email, saying that I haven't heard from him and I could pick charger up right away.

I emailed and said I could give him a good home but couldn't pay the fee. If anything I can find him a home but make sure he is better taken care of while doing so.

I saw this and I fell so bad! The person wrote the ad in English but it is so bad... $600 My husband would kill me... Although he is deploying soon.......

I tried potty training mine, I held him over a tras can and told him "go poop". I started it I the mornings when I uncovered him, so I can get his giant morning poo in the trash. Soon after he would not go in his cage but he would go every where else, including on me. Then I tried to stop the "training" but still took him out right away in the mornings for that giant one, then he would go to a stand or the aviary. I had to leave for a couple days and had a neighbor come talk to, feed and water him, and I was so worried, but he did start pooping in his cage. I felt so bad leaving him and I called my neighbor all the time, she thought I was crazy asking her if she saw poop lol. Anyway, once I stopped taking him out of the cage to poop in the trash, he started going again in his cage, it took a while, probably because I still took him to the trash because I thought he wouldn't go. Hope This wasn't confusing

I bought it! The pictures did not show it is still covered in poop! I am going to use bleach water to wipe it down... Right?

I have 3 different air purifiers, even the expensive rabbit air. I am thinking I can move his indoor cage in the office. The office had those accordion doors to separate it from the living room, but we removed those doors so it is wide open so he will still be able to see everything that goes on. Then I can get the extra long baby gate and put that up. It can be a semi bird room/office, if my husband goes for it, I haven't told him yet.

I am going to try and make it work. I will ask her Dr about doing a test to be sure.

Thanks for your replies. I would still go out and talk to him and go in the aviary with him. He also goes out there everyday all day when the weather is nice, so he is use to being outside. He has never been an affectionate grey anyway, he does not like to be held and cuddled. But you still think rehoming him would be better? I already know a lady who took interest in him when I told her our situation, but she would house in in an outdoor aviary also and find him a mate. She is very knowledgeable and has Rose Breasted Cockatoos and a pair of Greys already. Would that be better?

I have been fighting with my husband for years about Babalu and his dander/feathers. We now have a 14 month old daughter and sometimes I think she might have his allergies. I live in North San Diego County in CA, and already have an outdoor aviary that he goes in during nice days. If I do switch him to outdoors, I would buy or remake a safer aviary for him, along with better shelter and maybe a heat element if I have to. What do you think? Thanks

Where do you place the fan? Just next to the cage, or in a window? Just trying to figure out how this would work with a cage in the living room. Thanks

I used galvanized wire. I scrubbed all the panels with a wire brush and vinager. I read online that that is a way to remove the zinc coating. Or another is to get well weathered galvanized wire, stuff that's been outside for years. So far my guys is ok, although he doesn't chew the wire, just climbs it.
