  1. Just saw this post... I use a small plastic dog carrier. At first it was hard to get Babalu inside, I had to take the top off then put him inside. Now he knows the carrier means going outside and he will let me put him right in it. Of course I always give him a treat too
  2. Thanks everyone, we will ignore it again. I was pretty good at it, it was my husband who would get upset and tell him no or make some kind of noise when he did it. I will keep reminding him to try to ignore it.
  3. His cage is in the living room, thats where we are most of the time. Or in the kitchen, but its an open concept house so he can see us when we are in there.
  4. Well we tried ignoring it for a while and that wasnt working. Maybe we didnt do it long enough... Then we started to say no! And that didnt work. Then we started trying to talk to him to do something else, sometimes that worked but when we stopped he started chirping again. I think we will try the ignoring method again. I think he wants to be with me, but I cant hold him all the time, we have a new baby too... and it has gotten worse, so maybe he is jealous. He did do it a lot before she was born though too... I hold Sophie up next to him and we talk to him all the time, he copies her sounds already I know he likes her too.
  5. For the past couple of years (ever since our move to VA) Babalu has been making this real high pitch chirp. He use to only do it when he didnt like something or was scared or nervous. Now he does it constantly! I cant figure out what he wants and it is driving us crazy, my husband more. He want to get rid of him now He does it when he is in or out of the cage. Sometimes I think it starts when he sees or hears me. Any suggestions? We just moved back to California, and he gets to go outside almost all day in his aviary and I bring him in before dark.
  6. I want a new aviary now! My husband made one out of wood and galvanized wire, which we cleaned with vinegar and a wire brush. But yours is so much nicer!
  7. He is being taken care of, what I meant was, he is not #1 anymore (like my hubby always thought)
  8. I just had a baby too, well 4 weeks ago. Throughout my pregnancy I talked to Babalu about the baby, and said baby a lot. I already knew he liked kids because he loves my niece. But... I have had almost no time for Babalu recently except for letting him out of his cage on the perch and preparing his mash. Then he pretty much stays on the perch all day unless he flies to his boing. He already makes sounds like Sophie, but he also has become more annoying. Like making car alarm sounds and his real high pitch chirp (that is his fav and does it the most). The chirp hurts our ears and he does it when we are in the room and out of the room. I think he does it when he is not happy or doesn't want us or him to do something.
  9. I have 3 different kinds all throughout the house. A Honeywell, a Kenmore and a Rabbit Air. My favorite is the Rabbit Air, then the Honeywell.
  10. Hmmm.... my husband bought one like a year ago, from an infomercial, and we have never used it. Not sure why, I guess I thought it would just be a pain to clean and a waste of money. I will defiantly try it now, thanks.
  11. I too like the Rabbit Air brand. I also have a Kenmore and Holmes air filter, but the Rabbit Air is way better in my opinion.
  12. Keywe, does she ever chew on the screen?
  13. I hope you get power back soon.
  14. Maybe he got bored, frustrated or mad because he didn't get to go outside for those couple days.
  15. I too have been wanting to get a hand held or smaller vacuum. I moved the cage from a hard floor to carpet and I have been using a carpet broom thing in between vacuuming but it doesn't get up the small down feathers.
  16. I have not heard or seen tinker toys in forever, lol!
  17. I would say yes. Just make sure you do more research to find out what else you can feed to give Coco the best diet you can provide. The bird food section has a ton of info.
  18. KimKim

    Apple seeds

I also have heard that they are not good, and then, that they can be ok in small amounts. I don't think I would risk it. But seems like you have had no problems with them so far. When I eat an apple, I will let mine take bites, or I cut small pieces off for him. I have never offered a core.
  19. I got this http://www.mysafebirdstore.com/product.cgi?group=1858&product=6984 with my last online order, and Babalu loves it! He picked at it the first couple times I offered it to him, but now he cant wait until I put it in his bowl. Just wanted to share.
  20. I use the sandy perches, well not me, but my grey They seem to work really well for him. I have tried a few others, but the corner sandy perch is his favorite.
  21. This should be fun... So I can enter but I cant vote, I don't have facebook
  22. Im glad that you are happy with your first order!
  23. I have a grey, and my husband has allergies. I have air filters throughout the house and I try to bath him and clean often. But you might find it hard to contain your bird in one room. That is my problem, I have an area in almost every room for my grey and it makes my hubby mad
