Lol, I caught this picture of Yoshi while trying to take pictures of her attempting to keep her wings lifted up... I think she is trying to sabotage my computer! Lol luckily she hesitated instead of biting through my power cord!

Lol ecodweeb... with all those phones going off and birds answering the calls I'm surprised you remember to pick up the real thing! Sounds fun!

Chickie and Her Babble Ball.
jessdecutie18 replied to lovethatgrey's topic in Homemade Toys & Playstands
How cool... okay now to find a cheap babble ball... any good place online? I will have to try BedBath I suppose! -
Yoshi loves bells, loves the sound of them, and is happiest with a toy with lots of bells... but she also loves pulling the inside metal piece out, destroying the bell, and then she discards the entire toy as if it isn't interesting anymore without a ringing bell! My question is do any of you guys have fids that destroy their bells, and have gotten a 'better' bell? I've briefly heard of cowbells... don't know where I'd get one though... I found this online: http://www.theperchstore.net/lubitoinsm.html Lame or do you think Yoshi would like it?

What a cutie! If you want to, put something in the bottom of the cage (like a towl) for a softer fall... put the perches lower so it isn't as far of a fall. Also, if he has trouble on regular perches, you can buy a 'corner perch' or two. Here is a link if you don't know what I'm talking about, although you might be able to find one cheaper than that elsewhere: http://www.theperchstore.net/pococope.html Give him time, and he will do fine

Yoshi sure seemed happy we were back from our holiday... she wasn't content for two days unless she was either on our shoulder or chowing down on favorite treats on her playstand

Loved all the pictures! Especially the B&G Macaw

Awesome toys Yoshi got a 'Spoon-man' toy and a foraging toy similar to that wheel Yet she gets toys every month so nothing special to her

Karma to you for the good advice Thanks!

So tomorrow we are going to my Brother's house for Christmas... big family gathering... and I just realized tonight that they all want to see Yoshi... so she is coming. She is bound to be a bit nervous around several people, but if you read my Thanksgiving post on here then you know that she does pretty well after she settles in a bit. My dilemma really is that we are going to be there all day... and the portable playstand we got her has some flaws in my eyes... I need the advise of some of you guys! A new playstand is somewhere in the future but for now I can only make adjustments to this one. Anyway - the biggest drawback to me is that there is no 'high hook' or something to hang toys from, you know? If she is sitting on the main perch... I've found it a real annoyance that there isn't something higher up to clip toys onto... I've tried a close hanger but too bendy... I've considered a wooden dowl upright but how am I supposed to attach that to the hard base? Drawback #2 - No food or water bowls... Thanksgiving I fed her by hand some foods and she ate a bunch before we went but tomorrow we will be there all day... So if you guys have some tips PLZ PLZ PLZ let me hear them! Ideas about how to cut down on any extra stress would be great too! Thanks P.S. - Sorry it's messy in the photo

Yoshi is getting into the Christmas spirit early, and wants to wish everyone a 'Merry Christmas Eve's Eve' It seems after a week away from us Yoshi has decided to become part Macaw and a variety of other birds... she was just babysat by her breeder (who still loves her ) who lives with about 20 birds of her own, so I guess she was introduced to some new sounds LOL. Yesterday and today our previously quiet Yoshi has been randomly squawking like a Macaw and making a variety of little whistles like some smaller birds do  So while she can't say 'Merry Christmas' in human terms, I believe she is saying it in several different voices of her own language

Thanks lol

Yoshi is back, and as goofy as ever After our week and a half vacation, Yoshi came back home yesterday and is in good shape. Apparently she gained a little weight while we were gone, as she got lots of goodies and had a good time at her vacation home! Once again we brought her home an exciting new toy from the breeder lady who took care of her while we were away. She always gets a returning home toy for being good She's so spoilt! She just had a shower with me, as she hadn't had one in a week, and is now super excited at all the attention she is getting, as my husband and I are off this entire week so almost no cage time for her! Just an update, I will be posting some pics of her and her new toys in the pictures section

How cute -
Scary! Luckily Yoshi's cage is way too big to make a quick getaway with, hopefully a burglar wouldn't be daring enough to grab her and run! I'm so sorry for the lady's loss, and wish her luck in finding her baby!

So I've been away this entire week. We dropped Yoshi off at her own vacation home with her old breeder Thursday, and she will be coming home Monday... She is getting attention and new toys and yummy foods so I'm sure she is okay... BUT I MISS HER! Awaowoawoawow... She has never been away from us this long, and I hope she loves us just the same when she comes back! I won't see her until Monday night, because I have to work. I can't wait until Monday night, lol. It's funny how attached I've gotten to her. She's part of the family now... Last I saw her as we left the breeder's house she was chowing down on some nuts, happy as can be Hopefully all is well!

I'm happy for you and your Simba Keep up the love and good work

I'm glad you have cared enough to give this baby a good home and a nice cage... as for the 'taming.' Start slow and expect slow results... put a treat on the outside of the cage and leave the doors open, surely she will eventually dare come get it. When she does, praise her and give her more treats. Slowly she will realize that there is a happy place outside of that cage as well.
-
That's a tough one, some pictures or a video of him moving around would help us realize how he gets around... the ramps, say around the inner sides of the cage, sound like a good idea to me!

adopting a plucker and looking for advice
jessdecutie18 replied to trail_rider's topic in The GREY Lounge
Good luck! I've seen many greys that pluck, and just to say they pluck doesn't mean they can't be the sweetest little guys around. Just give him plenty of love and attention and remember that progress is probably going to come slow, and all will be well -
Have any of you taken your birds out in the rain? Do they seem to like it? Just wondering, lol...

It's funny, Yoshi was taught by the breeder and reinforced by us to learn 'step up', and she knows it well. Yet when she is in a goofy bossy mood lately she will back up and turn away from the offered hand and scuttle across her playstand/cage/or wherever she is to run around and then eventually come back and step up. It's like she is saying 'I'll step up when I want to!'. Hold any kind of food in your hand though, and she's on your hand in a instant
