    Thread 101

Friend to friend.......................HeHe All of us...............................
  3. The most wonderful day of the year.............................
  4. Hi, the fun starts, we start step up training even before weaning, if your baby is ok with your hand in the cage, go for it, in a emergency you need them to step up no mater where they are. You have great members here, welcome..Jay
  5. Sir, maybe we should move on from this thread. Thank you Jay
  6. Please feel free to do as you wish with your parrot, please feel free to have your own opinion's. in this instance I don't condone your method's, but that's a choice we each have....Jay
  7. Quote ""fast hand motion" training him such that I can VERY QUICKLY swipe my hand open or closed incredibly close to him, even touching him but it's all within the boundary of trust." Unquote Thank you very much...I'm sorry but I just can't agree with this under any circumstances...Once again, I'm sorry but in my own experience, this technique is just wrong. This is not a matter of adding trust within any boundaries. This is my own personal opinion...Jayd
  8. Very Wise....Salts accumulates and kill....................................................................................Thank you Jay
  9. Beyond the shelter of our hearts...Thank you.....
  10. Hi, this is a very simple one, I'm a million miles away from you, but I can sense your emotions and concerns, it emanates from you like musk. If I can feel it? The minute you see you feathered friend, your mind and emotions fill wilh the thoughts you written here. What you need to do is Stop, Relax, Take 3 breathe, recite a mantra or prayer, [a real one] and don't approach your baby until your mind is relax and void of all negative thoughts....This is serious, I'm not joking, with time it will all come naturally......................
  11. GOOD POINT...Also, Always air dry your Grey, no heater, blow-dryer etc.
  12. Welcome to the forum, there's no question's to small, were here for you:D:)
  13. Please follow Dans advice, but please remember, there will be baggage, non of us know how much.......
  14. Thank you, yes or just sprinkle on when serving. The biggest problems with adding supplements is there not time tested, some ingredients we have learned from experience, others we don't know, with your wonderful diet, I personally see no reason to add any supplements, with your choices [and maybe what I've suggested] you supplying every thing they need. My comments are based on scientific facts, personal experiences, yet they could be wrong, only time will tell, I just prefer not to temp nature, lol. The biggest thing I've noticed in my years is the "It sounds good to me" and "If it's good for a human, it's good for my bird!", sometimes this can be the farthest thing from the truth...Thanks Jayd
  15. Really nice, If I may I'd like to Critique this, my comments in red, Thanks Jayd The reason for a lot of these changes is some fresh foods work together and others don't, you also need fresh veggies nut's legumes whole, not processed on a daily basis, plus a seed mix and pellet mix if so desired... Your sunflower seeds nuts etc provide EFA, [Esential Fatty Acid] which is highly important to our Greys.Great post, Thanks Jayd
  16. Welcome, the best thing for your Grey is to not use the overhead fan, find a alternative...From your Greys reaction I'm afraid a clipping might cause a lot of mental harm....
  17. Right on........................................................
  18. Believe it or not, GOOD seed mix's are balanced for each group of bird. A Macaw requires higher fat content than a Grey or a Zon, if you notice a Macaw mix is loaded with nuts and high fat ingredients, so no, you shouldn't feed your Grey Macaw mix, they eat more of the small seed then you might think, they also waste a lot lol.....As a reminder, no mater how good the mix if it has peanuts in the shell, discard them unless they state that they are "Roasted and human safe"........
  19. Hi and thank you, you really need to talk to the breeder and get the baby checked by a vet ASAP. Clipping the wings has nothing to do with this.....Please keep us informed..............................................
  20. Check out Amazon.com Volkman hook bill....good price and low shipping price.....

    Bed Time

Hi, if I may, I mention this every once in a while, Go to a pet store and get a small cat/dog lease, [real cheap] the same color as you harness, cut it off about 3 inches below the holding loop, use this to practice putting it over your parrots head, if they chew on it, it doesn't matter.....
  22. Dan's post says it all, 100% correct. A Grey should have about 3 tbsp a day of sunflower seeds a day, we feed them as treats. The reason we use Safflower seed base mix's is because it has less of saturated fat then sunflower seed. We like to supply our parrots their daily E.F.A. [Essential Fatty Acid's] in almonds, walnuts etc which are better than sunflower seeds. Another reason for low sat fat is because our Greys are prone to high Cholesterol, our Zon's are prone to Fatty tumors. Jay
  23. Yes, that's what we use, except no one likes the Nanas.........lol
