1. Wow - that's a whopper! What lovely colours - I hope you didn't sink any ducks when you had it out!!
2. Ha Ha! That poor gnome!! Thanks Steve - gave me a giggle
3. Lazy boy recliner! It would have to be placed in a hotel, far away from my house if I had more than one bird! I've got Harvey perched on my shoulder, watching my every move - what would I do with two? Juggle?
4. Oh, for goodness sake! I work for the Health Service - I'm not a surgeon and I wouldn't carry out a heart transplant - just because I had read the book or seen the clinic letters! Giraffes eat leaves in high trees - but just because they can't fit their head through my 6 foot 6 door I wouldn't snap their necks!! Moobu makes very opinionated quotes throughout all of the posts he has made on this site so far - all, I personally believe, out to provoke us - and unfortunately we are rising to the bait - funnily enough - all about the subjects we hold closely to our hearts. Leia - I know you probably love your grey - but in a house of 10 people with multiple visitors, perhaps a grey isn't the right pet - but you have your grey now. It is too late! Clipping won't keep your grey "safe" - education will. Educate the people who you share with, talk to them about the importance of your grey being safe - perhaps you can re-educate your house mates? To be honest Leia - I would take all of the advice from this posting - but leave out Moobos thoughts - which have clearly provoked anger and unrest, intentionally!
5. Harvey bites for fun! He'd list it at the top of his page as "likes" when applying for a job! He bites when he feels like it - normally with no warning!! I'm learning to read his signs tho - I know when he's about to pounce!
6. I do have to say - I do not understand how you lot cope with more than 1 - I like the idea - but definitely don't have the notion! Poor Harvey will remain an "only parrot" - If I got another I'd end up in the corner of a dark room, rocking! I don't think my blood pressure could cope with the stress levels - you all must be sooooo laid back!!!
7. There are so many things going through my mind (some of them I am hoping you are not going to post about!!!!) Come on, Come on, Come on - you're keeping us in suspenders! Whoops, mean suspense!
8. 1. Puppies are hard work. 2. Puppies make a lot of mess. 3. Puppies poop all over the place. 4. Puppies chew things. 5. Puppies need to be the centre of attention. 6. Puppies need a varied, interesting diet. 7. Puppies need a lot of exercise. 8. Puppies can harm themselves if they get bored. 9. Puppies need lots of toys. 10. Puppies don't like to be left alone. So, instead of a puppy I bought an African Grey Parrot. Mmmmm - anybody relating to this post?
9. Chiku is gorgeous - his feathers look like fur - all soft and cuddly! Not leaving Echo out - she's obviously gorgeous too!
10. Moobu - you are clearly part of the PR team for Chet Womach. His techniques are cruel, his face makes me feel ill and most of all he is conning millions of people into paying him to talk absolute crap! Oh - and the email issue - I can't download this site to my desk top to alert me to emails - because the "wonderful" Chet Womach bombards me with emails every couple of hours offering me his "great training material". The guy is a moron - starve your birds, flood them with material - he's not a pet lover he's a tosser! Sorry, I'm ranting again - but I feel posts that are pro-Chet Womach are pure propaganda - you couldn't put your beloved pet through that rigmarole.
11. Woah! "best advice to clip both birds wings". Let us just chop our children's legs off when they start arguing at nursery! Thank god Moobu that it was "just your best guess". devilangel09 - I don't know the best way to stop your babies arguing - but don't take Moobu's advice!
12. I wasn't lucky enough to see Harvey in the very early stages (I only saw him at 10 weeks) - thanks for these - they are absolutely delightful! I especially love the baby baby ones - and as I've already commented before - I love the one of Spock on his back.
13. Hi Fendana - Welcome to the Forum. I've just been laughing as Harvey is now the same towards my husband. I've just shouted through Dan's advice about sharing feeding, but he's just shouted back "but I don't like anything in his bowl"! You'll find all of the information you need from here - I do regularly! Looking forward to seeing some photos of Squonk (incidentally - what a fab name!)!!
14. You must get a copy to enable upload to the site - or let us know the link so we can watch it on our computer (hopefully we can from here in the UK)! Congratulations on your weight loss - it is hard, and it is stressful at times - but look back on what you were and your health in comparison to now. Well done!
15. Ah, but nobody entered FART yesterday Robin - looks like you've jumped ship!!!! Unless you turn up next week your subscription will be cancelled and your membership card will have to be returned!
16. I've listened for 20 minutes Scotty - not enthralled - she's a bit of a loony! I haven't head any "expert" advice - she's talked about going to England to Camelot (which doesn't exist), dogs and oh yes "her book" but nothing enjoyable! She's just quoted that dogs and parrots are "different species". Mmmm! I'm no expert - but even I knew this!! She's also just said they are "telepathic" - I know they are clever, but come on! Sorry, I've had to switch her off! Others may find her interesting - I don't!
17. I didn't get Harvey chipped as I thought they had to undergo a general anaesthetic. Obviously not! I've noticed that his band is rubbing on his leg a bit now at the bend - and after recent discussions, we are going to get it removed. I am now going to get him chipped - now that I know no GA is involved.
18. Happy Hatchday Lyric - He's gorgeous - obviously enjoying the camera too x
19. Ah, he/she is beautiful - looks all fluffy and cuddly. Can't wait to see more pictures and hear what you call he/she!
20. Harvey likes nothing better than flying to the top of our French doors and chewing the seal (which he obviously isn't allowed to do) so we put cushions up there. This worked....until now So, I chased him off the cushion and he just found somewhere else he wasn't allowed to be: I can't win!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/08/27 21:02
21. The most important lesson has been learned! This is the command you will use day in day out, hour in hour out, minute in minute out! It's constant! What about shaking hands - this is simple - ask to "shake hands" and lift his foot up and say "pleased to meet you" - He'll learn to lift on his own in no time. Also - as him to give you a kiss - watch for that beak tho - your lips and cheeks are lovely and fleshy!
22. Ha Ha - KC looks fab! That perch is to die for!!
23. Harvey gets up at 05.50am on a weekday and about 8am on a weekend. I know there's no point me trying to creep past him when I'm on my way out to work, so his "nightie" comes off and he comes out for his morning poop on his stand, I make his breakfast, make my lunch and then he goes back into his cage and I'm off to work. At the weekend it's a little later - he's always got his "nightie" on before 9pm though (1 hour and 20 minutes and counting!!!)
24. What a super picture Lee - Cocoa is obviously so at home now! How exciting - you'll be discovering all these new words! Harvey's only 8 months, so I hope he will speak soon (he is kinda grumbling "hello" under his breath when our backs are turned) - I'll still love him if he doesn't tho!
25. Hi Natalia - Welcome to the Forum. You will find that you FIND time to read this forum - I never came near the computer before I found this great site. You will find everything you need to know from all of these very knowledgeable folk. Ganzha's a sweetie.
