1. What absolutely super news - he is an absolute cutie - best wishes to all your family - he's definitely a little fighter and you must be so proud.
2. I'm here! Yipeeeee! It's the weekend (which only consists of two days for us who live in the UK in comparison to three for those lucky US residents!!!) Come in from work, straight to the fridge and a bottle of beer in my hand! I'll spooch about the forum, put my own opinion in here and there - and then settle down for the night with a good old bottle of wine!!! Well, Judy, looks like only you and me tonight - they've missed it again (we'll not tell them about the stripper that came, or the free nibbles). They've missed it - that's their tough luck!!!
3. No, no, no - don't be too shocked - I'm a veggie remember!! When Harvey is being naughty I tell him I'm going to make "parrot pie" out of him - although I doubt it would feed the family!! I think I might have to stop - because I am sure he's going to repeat it - I've just said it to him and he's made the low rumblings of roughly the same syllables! Imagine him shouting - "Parrot Pie" at the top of his voice - I'll have the Parrot Social Services at my door!!!
4. Right you lot - hoping for a better turn out this week for F.A.R.T - new members always welcome - I really only attract these old drunkards - so new blood would be a welcome relief (once they've had a tipple, nobody can stop them!!!) Only joking current members! Come on the US - it's Labour Day on Monday - that's three whole days of unadulterated alcoholic consumption - Aspirin at the ready!!! :pinch:
5. Ha Ha Ha - what a little so and so - Harvey likes to sit on the top of the door and pretends to lose his balance until we jump up to "save" him - we've grown wise to it now though, because I know he is laughing at us! :woohoo:
6. Well done for joining and posting about this missing grey - you will make somebody's life by caring for it until they find you have him/her - it's obviously so well socialised to fly to your daughter.
7. Ha Ha! Just reading this post back - Erm, Julie - how many birds do you have? Just the one?
8. He is gorgeous Julie - you're so lucky to have him (dodgy name asides!). Can't wait to hear how he and Beau get along - camera ready please
9. Ah, she's beautiful - and very lucky to have you - well done for giving this absolute peach a loving home. I would have done the same!!
10. Gosh, I can't believe it was two years ago. This was obviously before we had Harvey and I was amazed at his intelligence. This is when I vowed that one day that I would have an absolutely magnificently intelligent African Grey. Well, one out of two aint bad as they say!!!!
11. Ah, how gorgeous - I'm not scared! I'd run over and give him a big kiss! Tango's gorgeous too!!
12. Thanks everyone - upstairs isn't too hot not to need a cover, just not so open plan and roomy - nice rooms with doors that close! I think I'll get him a sleep cage - do you think I've left it too late to introduce it?
13. Ha Ha! We from a certain part of the North East of England are called "Geordies" we have our own language  Well, not language - it's still English, but it can be hard to understand the very broad accented (as other UK members will confirm)! I'm one of the posher ones tho!!!
14. Ha Ha! Brave you for getting out of bed to investigate! I'd have been tightly tucked under my duvet! Naughty, naughty Sully!!
15. That is so, so sad. I am so sorry, poor baby Akima.
16. Thanks Dave - advice absolutely appreciated (as always) - and followed to the tee. Jill x
17. Hi Jingles - thanks for sharing your "family". You certainly have your hands full there! Looking forward to hearing more of their antics.
18. Hi John - It's a specially designed cover which covers the top half of the cage, right down to the seed skirts and tucks in there - I'm sure air circulates through the gap where his poop tray slides in to meet the cage. I'm not making myself completely clear here! This is the description from the manufacturer: Constructed of a revolutionary poly-cotton mixture that is fairly thin & breathable, yet tough for your bird to damage. This material is also non-toxic to birds. This poly-cotton mixture allows in oxygen, but keeps out light and cool breezes. A standard bed sheet only blocks 40% to 60% of light and doesn't provide a darkness level that allows your bird to get the sleep needed to be healthy. A Cozzzy Bird Cage Covers block over 95% of light, and allows your bird to truly sleep well. Front section of cover can be folded over the top of the cage, so you don't need to take the cover off to get your bird out of it's cage. Cover features Velcro so that you can loosen or tighten it to the cage. It's called a Cozzzy Cover. Hope this helps. Jill x
19. I love this time of the night! It's the only time Harvey wants a "proper cuddle". He too will snuggle in, sometimes under a blanket (I do get ribbed for this)!! Enjoy it while you can!
20. They are just so beautiful. As I've said before - your posts about your fabulous babies are giving me an insight into things I've never seen before - and that baby is just one of them! Thanks for these - I love them (and want one)!!
21. Dave - we have a cover over Harvey that was specially designed to fit his cage (no drafts etc). I am too worried about my first winter with Harvey - the temperature does drop probably to around 58 - 60 during the winter, during the night once the heating has gone off. Do you think I need to move him upstairs with us at night into a sleep cage or will he adapt? I'm obviously willing to do whatever it takes to keep him safe.
22. Sorry - North East of Englandism! Pants means not good - I've been very wary of coloquialisms up until now - just let myself down - sorry - I will refrain and talk properly - as Dave says - the Aviator allows your bird to fly and move around. The feather tether may as well be a straight jacket PS - I'd never even heard of those diaper suits before this post - it's a bit like dressing your doggie in princess outfits

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/09/02 22:10
23. That's what it was called "the feather tether" that was the inadequate harness we got with Harvey!! It's pants - there's too much fiddly bits to join, to nip your bird and TBH I think those clips are a little slack and your bird could easily open them! I think those leg things are cruel - they could take flight and pull their hips out of joint (do parrots have hips?!). The Aviator is mint - go with that one!!
24. Oh my god, I am so sorry Sheila. It's an awful time - I remember it well from a couple of years ago when my mam had to get our family dog put to sleep due to a brain tumour. At least poor Tess is now out of it - but unfortunately it's us that's left to suffer. Lots of Love to you and your family from me. PS. I too am of the ideology that it's how the dog is brought up - not the breed x
25. Ha Ha! Yes Caroline - one sock only - but I hear he has really small feet!!!
