1. Thanks Dave - as you know, I just need that "little bit of reassurance from a pro!!" Sorry for being a pest - but how many "grey" feathers can I expect to find and over what sort of period? 17 years with a cockatiel was easier than the last five months with Harvey!!! My nerves are shattered!
2. You sound as if you are coping just fine with Bailey - and know things aren't going to happen over night. Well done for taking on an older grey - I hope you have a great time hear and I look forward to seeing some photos
3. Urgh - I can't even think what the consistency is like - it looks like sewage!!! I'm hoping Bernie is going to try it soon too!!!
4. Ha Ha! I wear slippers all of the time - I wondered why my mother wouldn't buy me those lovely stillettos all those years ago - "just wear these lovely terry towelling slippers" she told me!!
5. Ha Ha! RAC Rally, Kielder, Northumberland, 1922 - what happened again?.........
6. Mine has an in built one - it's called my shoulder! Aches after a bit though!!
7. I've noticed Harvey is preening more and more lately, and on Saturday one after the other he pulled three, small grey feathers - which he sat and chewed and chewed until I was worried he would swallow it so I took it off him - he just pulled another. He did stop this after three feathers, but tonight is really rough again in his preening - but up until now hasn't pulled any tonight. He hasn't done this before, only the lovely floaty baby feathers. He is fast approaching nine months old - is this too early for a moult and how many do I "let him off with" before it's an issue. In my heart of hearts I know he isn't plucking - Just a bit over zealous in his technique (I'm hoping you are going to reassure me?) Your advice (as always) would be greatly appreciated.
8. That's great news - I'm so happy that Macey is feeling a little better x
9. Ah, poor Darius, but it clearly doesn't bother him!!! After I read this I have just been and checked Harvey's toes, I can't remember ever counting them either!! All present and correct! Dave would you be oh so kind to send an abacus to me too - I think I need help - I've just counted my own - is seven on one side and six on the other normal?
10. Hi Terri (and menagerie) - with all those animals, and family and job - how've you got time to join the forum!!! Welcome - it'll be great to hear all about your family and animals (and see some photos too hopefully). Jill xx
11. Ha Ha! I'm sure they added that "mmm" factor! How did you explain away the crunch!!!
12. Yeah - I agree Robin - but Bernie's just a crap driver!!! PS - and he used to be a professional rally driver!!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/09/14 20:06
13. As long as your cleanliness is as good as Rishi's then you're onto a winner!!! Harvey would sit there under sufferance, but I don't think he'd "volunteer" for a daily shower!!
14. Oh, my heart goes out to you. To lose a pet is so upsetting, but these circumstances make it worse to bear. It's no consolation to you, but for 15 years you have looked after Destiny, who clearly didn't have a future. I can't imagine how you must be feeling at the moment, but I'm thinking of you (and Destiny).
15. Hi Crigg83. This was my biggest worry about when we went on holiday. Harvey would not go in his cage either and I was really worried as my parents wouldn't be able to let him out as much I we do. I was reassured by all on her that "when they need to go, they need to go" and of course, they were right! My parents were able to get Harvey out of his cage a couple of times a day, but due to their lifestyle etc they couldn't have him out all of the time. He went in his cage - there was nothing to worry about!
16. It looks like pond algae! What on earth is that!!! Let me know when you order your first batch!! That looks entirely awful Bernie - even vodka won't take the taste of that away!!!
17. Luvparrots - if someone asked if they could knock me up in the morning I would think it meant what you think it means too (and I'm English!!!). I love how misinterpretations occur - there must be millions of them. Bernie - I've just been to watch some sport (not motor boats tho) - I've just been to the top of my street to watch the "Tour of Britain". My niece (20 months) was more interested in the tons of police bikes and cars and the loud cars they make!!
18. There's a warehouse full of the stuff, hidden, only for your use and it's only because you've just asked that I'm able to tell you where it is. It's free - you don't have to pay for it - the warehouse is marked "strictly for Jen". The only problem being is that the warehouse is in China. They won't ship, you'd have to get there yourself, and you are only allowed to take a tub at a time. I wish I had a money printing machine.
19. Right - how do you turn them off!!!! Goodness me!! Where's the on and off button!!! He thinks he's a right smarty pants now!! Arun - he's nearly 9 months.
20. I knew I'd rumbled you the other night when you were telling me you had some exciting news this weekend and I asked if it had anything to do with the forum and you laughed! You tinker - I knew it! Judy, I am so pleased that lilo has found you. You are one kind, loving lady and I'm proud to call you my friend. I am sure eve is so happy to have lilo re-home in such a fantastic home.
21. She's lovely - I love your statement of "here to stay forever".
22. Oh Elaine will be so pleased that the boat can come along too - what a treat!!!!! Just remember the surprise birthday cake (oh and of course present) or the boat may end up in two!!!
23. I presume it's your bird pooping on the carpet and not your wife!!!!! Harvey is toilet trained. All you have to do is spot the little bum wiggle that they do before hand - then race them to the spot you'd like to get them to do it in - say "go poop" or whatever signal you like and when she does poop, give her heaps of praise. I thought it was impossible at first - but it is so worth it. Don't get me wrong - if Harvey can't be bothered to return to his playstand to poop, he'll just go - but mostly he will wait until he's back there. I find that normal washing up liquid on a cloth will remove to poop - but if it does happen i make sure I lift the green bit carefully as this will be the bit that stains the most!!
24. Your head turns a full 180 degrees and therefore your back becomes your front. You can reach that itchy spot no problem now. Unfortunately, this means that your underwear is no longer suitable and you need to buy T-shirts with humps in the back, which need to be specially made and cost a fortune. I wish I could lose about two stones.
