And the Nominees for Best Supporting Act are......
JillyBeanz replied to pearllyn's topic in The GREY Lounge
Let me see! I was quite happy to get another tiel when Spiky died - it was Michael and the kids who were desperate for a parrot (we didn't know whether to get an Amazon or a Grey)and obviously Harvey came along. At first they were "all hands on deck" but once Harvey started liking me the best they all backed off! Michael is now resigned to the fact he can be chief poop cleaner and bottle washer alone - Harvey prefers it this way too!! So Lyn, no Academy Award going to anybody in my house - because I'm the best!! -
Ah, bless! Welcome to the Forum Lisa - you'll have a great time here - everyone is so helpful and friendly - and there's always somebody around when you need advice (it's a 24 hour forum as we're all from different parts of the world!!). Lovely to see that Mango is getting the help she needs xx

Hey! I'm Not Scared of Anything Bigger Than Me!!
JillyBeanz replied to JillyBeanz's topic in Photography & Video Room
Judy - it lasted about three minutes (which in peaceful parrot time I think you will agree was like a lifetime!!!) Lyn - it is raw - he prefers his veggies raw - he's not really into mush!! Nice description of the runner bean Judy - obviously I'm so NOT a gardener - so I'm glad you described it!! Helpfully there are about 10 in the packet (that will be 30 minutes peace!!!) -
Ha Ha! Like I would know what a terminal or a coilpack is!!
-
You want to get a better hobby Bernie - this one is costing you too much!!! Is it terminal then?
-
Seriously - the harness can take time. I traumatised myself - never mind Harvey, before we mastered it - now he nearly puts it on himself as he knows he's going outside! It really does give you the freedom to let your baby roam around outdoors with you. Persevere - it is really worth it in the end.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Please don't let her out without a harness!!! The harness takes a lot of time and a lot of effort and isn't an overnight success - indeed it can take months for a grey to accept one. Please Please reconsider letting her fly freely - you may think she'll come back to you - but she won't. Don't do it until you have her harnessed - you will be asking for trouble.
-
This is better than the telly - I love it!!! I've been watching that naughty Camilla pluck and it doesn't matter how many times I should at her - she won't stop! I'm sooooo excited

Hi ShadesofGrey - welcome to the forum. You will learn easily how to post pictures - there's a great thread at the top of this room which helped me enormously. Look forward to seeing more of you and Chickpea - great name by the way
-
I'd only had budgies and a cockatiel before Harvey - you will be apprehensive and afraid - I still am!! You will fall in love immediately with the babies - but remember - just like puppies they grow up! I'll not lie to you - they are flaming hard work - there's so much to do and learn in order that they are in tip top condition and healthy. I look forward to hearing what choice you made.
-
They are absolutely wonderful! It's like a little love story being played out - definitely with rejection at the end. Thanks for these - they are super cute!!
-
Perhaps I've been a little remiss on my fees then - sorry Sheila - but it's spent! My god! When you said a bucket you weren't joking!!! That is absolutely fab - I've never seen anything like it! The only thing is - is the coke and sprite just for effect!!!! I must look out for something like that! I love it!!!
-
Nooo! Don't tell him Sheila!! What am I doing now - well, sitting here with a slight hangover! Started early because the football was on, and then sort of carried on through the night! I'm ready though - I'm off out shopping as I might have a birthday coming up!! PS. Not intending to spend as much as Sheila tho!
-
That is so sweet! I'm watching Harvey bang the hell out of anything in the way - at 100 miles per hour! Two ends of the spectrum eh? When does he go home?
-
Hi Lisa - Welcome to the forum - I've just read your profile story - how sad! Sounds like you've come on leaps and bounds with Harley though. You'll find loads of interesting threads and info on here - and don't feel silly asking stupid questions (because if you do a search I've probably already asked them!!). Get some photos of Harley uploaded - we love photos. Look forward to learning more about you and your family. Jill x

I'm Steve Hartman's unofficial, unpaid marketing department! Go get yourself one girl! It's the best thing I ever bought (other than Harvey) - here's Harvey's modeling skills:

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/09/26 18:08

Aren't Dogs Supposed to bite the Postie?
JillyBeanz replied to JillyBeanz's topic in The GREY Lounge
What! Don't you think I post informative and interesting information that helps the parrot society live!! Ha Ha Ha! Nope - I'm billed as the "Entertainment's Committee" - I'm already in talks for my own room (joke!!)! -
These are a great idea - we just have a washproof table cloth under Harvey's playstand - but it's true - such a carpet saver (apart from the fact he can throw pomegranite from there for at least 10 foot!! I think the idea of perspex etc behind a cage is a great idea too - luckily I was sensible and painted our hall with "washable" paint!!!

Ha Ha! Julie I'm giving you karma for your play on words! Excellent!!!! But would have been better deemed a "first class" post!! Go on - edit it - make yourself look better!!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/09/26 16:54 -
I've washed all of the bedding, I've ironed a huge stack of clothes, I've cleaned the bathrooms (nice) and have just been into town to buy - oh yes, you've guessed it - nothing for me - but some pine nuts, walnuts and some yogurt coated pineapple (urgh) for Harvey! I am now sitting here at with a glass of wine waiting for the football to start!! Oh yes, and I'm editing this to include the fact that whilst driving around a corner in town I mounted the pavement and have scraped a big gouge out of my alloy wheel! I'm only writing this as Bernie isn't around!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/09/26 16:50
