I've been flicking through the forum and have you tube running in the background. I pressed one of my favourite songs, from one of my favourite films and I have not stopped laughing. Harvey jumped onto my shoulder and he's "sung" along - he's whistled, squawked, squeaked, bobbed and whooped! I know I'm 35 and old before my time - but here's the link - turn it up loud and see what effect Doris and Gordon have on your Grey - Harvey is a new fan!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arELyEEwznE He shut up as soon as it ended!!!

Yeah Janet - I certainly wouldn't be asking to see his portfolio of shots!! -

I totally agree with Dan. I brought Harvey home at 12 weeks, fully weaned. I don't have the experience with greys and would not have liked to take on this responsibility at all. My breeder never ever mentioned letting him home before weaning - and told me the soonest I could possibly have him would be 12 weeks - could be longer - he is the expert and he was able to devote the care and attention needed to ensure my baby was healthy. And as for the "bonding" - I didn't wean Harvey and he is now sitting here, glued to the side of my face! If you have ANY reservations at all - please reconsider

My tiel (Spiky) used to lose his feathers all of the time - I showed no concern as this was absolutely normal - I found them all over the place. This is completely normal! I had 17 years worth of feathers from Spiky and loved every minute of it! I actually have the last tail feather he shed before he died

Mmm - does a parrot pump - well, I suppose the wind has to leave in some way - we'll have to listen closely for a reaction!

Elaine's clearly been in there Bernie - far too tidy! That poor son of yours must have left out the front door and you moved your things in through the back door - you don't waste much time do you! Very nice - all you need now is a beer fridge
-
Ha Ha - very good! I love how he bobs his head when he's shouting "come here". Thanks for sharing this

Hi Pixie - welcome to the forum. You will find this site probably the friendliest and the most informative on the internet ~ this was the one I visited all of the time when I was deciding to get a grey - and they still didn't put me off! There are hundreds of amazing threads throughout this forum - of if you feel you have a specific question - ask away - somebody will answer you. Look forward to hearing more about you and your chosen birdie

I paid £850 for Harvey - so it's probably about the going rate (I presume by using the pound sign you're in the UK). Welcome to the forum - this is indeed the place to get all of the information you need before you decide whether a grey (or another parrot) will fit in with your lifestyle - think long, hard and harder again - they are life changing and the way you've socialised and gone about your business day to day up until now will change dramatically if you decide to get a parrot of any sort. Everyone here is so friendly - ask any questions you feel you need answering - you will ALWAYS get an an answer.

Come on! Where's the update!!! I'm going to knit him a little scarf - just to keep that neck warm! He's going to love it at yours Robin (along with the rest of them!!) Can't wait to follow how he fits in

When I come into the study to look a the forum Harvey always comes with me. His favourite place to sit is on my shoulder (which aches after a while!!). He also likes being on the window sill, so I have to pull the blinds back (for obvious reasons) and I always give him some foot toys to play with. This is how he thinks he is funny. He plays for about five seconds, and then throws them on the floor, therefore I have to crawl under the desk every minute to retrieve the things he's thrown! When I ignore him he has the cheek to "shout" at me! It's clearly his little game of getting one over on me and he knows EXACTLY what he's doing by throwing it there!! I swear he is laughing at me!
-
Ha Ha! That is absolutely unbelievable! Makes me wonder where he learned it from!! :woohoo:
-
Laney has made it into the UK Parrot Magazine to try and find his owner! Sheila's uncovered a star!!! Big spread about him and the pet shop people who have him!
-
I saw Harvey sleep once during the day - that was the second day we brought him home. He "rests" like the others say, one foot up, but just stays nice and quiet (not very often!). I don't think when we are out that he sleeps - the radio is on so he'll not get much peace. My tiel used to sleep all of the time - so I find it funny that Harvey doesn't either.
-
I love Emma's videos - and hope Harvey is as entertaining as her when he's a little older - she's such a cutie
-
OOOh! They are soooo stubborn! I think especially when it's something they know they can't have - Dayo's not stupid - he would have known EXACTLY the reaction he was going to receive - which of course he did! Naughty Dayo - I hope you put him to bed with no supper!

Is this a moult? - Have I even spelt it right? LOL

Oh yes! This is exactly how Harvey started Julie - then he started losing a few grey feathers (although no tail feathers yet). He has tons of feathers coming through - try brushing Beau's feathers "against the grain" on his neck - I bet you there are some coming through - Harvey's are near black - I've just counted his on his neck and there are 9 coming through! -
new to the site!! hello everyone!

Hi Jess - Welcome to the forum. It's great that you are researching greys before taking the leap. I too had a cockatiel - but I can tell you - the cockatiel is a walk in the park compared to a grey! I could have 10 cockatiels and they wouldn't be as hard to look after as my Harvey! I would think about asking your breeder to keep your bird until it is fully weaned - I feel that you have to have experience to handfeed and wean birds, and as a novice myself I certainly wouldn't have wanted the responsibility of hand feeding - but I know you might feel differently. Good luck with your purchase - your new baby will change your life DRAMATICALLY!! -
Imagine us taking it the wrong way Bernie - I'm so sorry - but if you had used correct punctuation and said you were F.A.R.T ing - then we would have know - we just thought you'd let one rip - sorry for the misunderstanding

Even worse - a xxxxxl see through thong  -
Ah - these are lovely - although the one where he has his head stuck in the couch could easily be viewed as having his head stuck in an elephant's buttocks!!! (or that might just be me)! Yoshi is gorgeous - such a sweetie - thanks for sharing these

I had absolutely no intention of "going there" thank you very much Dame Judy! -
She is desperate Janet! That's exactly the bob Harvey does (especially when he's thinking of landing on something he shouldn't)!! It's not going to be long until nothing's safe!!!
