Hold on, Hold on - why am I the only person concerned here? The first thing that struck me wasn't the fact that Ecko is driving - YOUR STEERING WHEEL'S ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE CAR!!! I find that far more dangerous than Ecko coasting up the freeway (umm, that is motorway in America isn't it )!! Great picture of Ecko, thanks for sharing it

That is just the sweetest thing ever! I've never seen anything like it. I have sat going "oooh, ahhh, bless" all the way through it. This is one cutesy video

I came across this poem - which I think gives food for thought...... The Rainforest where we once lived was lush and thick and green The trees they reached into the sky like none that most have seen. And in the tree's a hollow spot is where we both would go, For in the hollow, we would lay our eggs as white as snow. The forest it had plenty of food for us to eat And water holes where animals would play and swim and meet. One day as I was in my log I heard an awful sound, I flew out to the lookout branch to see what lurked around. A human with his nets and gloves, machete and a sack, Had come to steal our chicks from us, Oh how I want them back. And when he took our little chicks I heard a piercing cry, He dropped my chick from up above, I had to watch him die. And when he left, we went to see our hollow and our nest Our family was gone you see, our place where we would rest. The village man, he walked for miles through forest thick and green, The babies cried inside the bag, it hurt to hear them scream. Into the village with the bag the merchants came to see, When opened up a single chick is all that there would be. On the bottom lay my chick his body limp and frail, His eyes sunk in, his wrinkled skin, no longer would he wail. The thunders coming closer the tree shakes from the ground, Branches flying everywhere our home is falling down. I fly away and then I see my mate is no where near, I search above the tree tops no calls for me to hear. And on the ground my lifelong mate lies still as still can be, And we will never mate again and never will be three. And all the trees where we once lived are gone forever now, For roads and pastures take their place and ranchers with their cows. Our food supply has dwindled our water hole is gone, No place to rest my tired wings Dear mate it won't be long. Soon you will not see us in the forest if you look, The library is where we'll be inside a picture book. So won't you tell your children of the parrots you once knew, And rest your head at night with ease Knowing, you did all that you could do.

Julie - Harvey looks like a badly stuffed sofa! He isn't going to win any pristine parrot competitions shortly!! He stopped moulting for about a week - but he's back in full swing now!!! I just keep soaking him!! Poor Beau - he'll be a "pretty boy" in no time

I've got a lovely animation that I want like the clever people of this forum - but it never works for me!! I need tuition!! :woohoo: -
Oh NicoleA - that's terrible. Did they say what degree of renal failure or the life expectancy - or even whether your vet feels this is recoverable? I have no idea what a creatinine or urea is supposed to be in a parrot, but to help your baby's diet and support its renal failure please try and stay away from potassium rich foods (which is very difficult as all fruit, veg and beans are high in potassium). The worst is tomatoes and bananas (the others are chocolate and coffee - which obviously you would NEVER give to your baby). Did you vet mention fluid restrictions or any other supportive therapy? It's just that in human renal failure the kidneys can't pump out enough toxins and patients are usually put on a fluid restriction. I'm sorry with all of the questions, but this is a terrible time for you and perhaps some of the avenues you should be exploring with you vet. Humans can live with a mild degree of kidney failure, but medical management limits progression. Can your vet help you with this?

If ever there was a Thursday to T..T than today (well, we don't really need a reason)! Then today's the day! Judy is 20,000 (oops, I mean has reached 20,000 posts)!! {Holidays-000200CD}

Bah - what's the old saying "you snooze, you lose". Who invented these time zones!! Oh yes, quite possibly us Brits (GMT) - RIDICULOUS!! I couldn't take part as I was in bed!!!

Welcome to my world! This is Harvey on a quiet day!! He likes nothing better than the sound of his own voice (bit like myself, before anyone else butts in!). I find it really amusing all these sounds - better than watching the television!!
-
OMG! I'm eating my breakfast!!! I would love to hear Bella doing that noise - please try and video it - preferably not with your accompaniment!

Hi Danna - welcome to the forum - you will learn everything you need from this forum - all these guys are sooooo knowledgeable. Any questions you feel are stupid - just ask - I'll have asked them before you!!! Looking forward to hearing more about you all.

I agree Janet - WHAT'S THE BLOODY BOAT GOING TO BE CALLED, Bernie?

It all happens whilst us Brits are sleeping!!! OMG! Congratulations Judy on such a derseved accolade! You know how much you mean to us all and without you I'd still be watching the soap operas on an evening!! You would never have thought that you also had a quite wholesome real life! Here's to the next 20,000 (and by that milestone I might have reached 5,000)!!! Lots of Love Jill (and of course Harvey)

I think your friends in the states would run over and kiss you if they could! We are so lucky here in the UK, we can buy them in abundance - quite expensive though. You can freeze them and take them out one at a time. Your birds will love them - the peace they give a parrot owner is precious!!

You're doing about as much as you can - without physically moving Sunny out of her home. This is what I would do too. I've looked into low voc paints too - they are water carriers rather than some chemical type component (which I forget the name of now) and are 100% better than standard paints (although considerably more expensive over here in the UK)! The only 100% "no voc" paints are your organic paints - which I think are only viable if you're loaded! Just try and leave the windows open in the areas that you are painting so that any toxins can escape! You are doing your best for Sunny (and the environment)!!!

Some of you may remember that in the summer Harvey was on the window sill in the study with the window ajar (locked!). He was whistling away, all matter of tunes and then wolf whistled, to which I responded and wolf whistled back! Now, the story here is that Harvey wasn't really visible - and the very young chap walking past thought this mad woman in her mid 30s was wolf whistling at him! I could have run out and explained, but thought I may make the situation worse! I've just had Harvey on his harness for a walk around the garden and he went to nibble the harness. I looked at him and said "don't you blinking dare, naughty boy" to turn around and a gentleman in his mid 50s to early 60s was just about to open my next door neighbour's garden gate. He looked at me mortified!! Luckily, this time Harvey was fully visible and I could explain the situation away!!! I am really going to have to watch who is around when chastising my birdie :woohoo:

Does anyone else's bird NOT know how to fly?
JillyBeanz replied to RhonnieS's topic in The GREY Lounge
Could birds be the same as us humans? I know they say that it's like riding a bike - you never forget - but perhaps Caesar isn't fit enough to fly! I notice Harvey's breathing intake is a lot deeper and quicker when he's been on one of his "mad ones" around the house - perhaps Caesar has no flying stamina! I know 10 years ago I used to run a lot - but I'd find it hard running up the garden path at the moment  -
Oh Greg - I am so sorry to hear of Lily's illness. Big kisses and hugs and prayers from Harvey and me
-
Ah Diana - he is sooooo cute (Mika - not Johan - I'm not after your man!!). I'm with Lyn - How dare you play with Mika and not spend your first hours with him on the computer!!! Now the fun properly begins!! Looking forward to hearing more about Mika as the days and weeks progress

I am now reading this topic as a "moulting expert"!!! Honestly - one month ago and I thought Havey was plucking too - there were more last night! I am becoming very accustomed to finding them at the moment - and they keep him quiet for ages!!! I know, we'll all save them, you can send them to me and I'll make the world's first, multi-national, multi-cultural, PARROT DUVET!!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/10/14 10:57

Moobu wrote: Well, just to let you know, it wasn't me - I would tell you I was doing it - although you haven't annoyed me enough to do this (yet!!). Also - you haven't helped yourself by posting this - your posts can read as quite rude, I'm afraid!! Also - it doesn't have to be people involved in this topic - anyone can take a dislike to a situation - so don't just assume it was one of us who have posted!! All threads don't stay directly bang on topic - they deviate slightly - but the comments about the newspaper IS related to your post. Why use something that isn't proven, if you can use something that is! What's the old saying "Don't fix what isn't broken"! Oh look - one of mine has been taken too!!! What a HUGE surprise!! Don't worry though - I'll get mine back - it'll take you a while to strip me of mine!! AND I STILL HAVEN'T REMOVED ONE OF YOURS!! To quote yourself - I'm not spiteful or immature!!
