1. I was going to change the name to Bernie!!!
2. Goodness me - my house looks like an explosion in the fresh produce aisle in a supermarket when Harvey eats (hence the huge, wipe proof mat now residing under his playstand). I find bits of pellets all over, weeks after the event!! In the parrot owners manual number one essential item should be listed as "hand held hoover" - I'm onto my second one and Harvey's only 9 months old!!
3. Thanks for those videos - especially liked the one with Mocha having a little splash about! Now, onto that parrot stand! It looks like a mobility aid that someones run over in their car! I can just see them sliding down the legs!!

5. That is so sweet Sheila - I forgot how small cockatiels were! I love the fact that they are looking at each other with adoration! Cracker looks just like my Spiky used to. They are both gorgeous x
6. Oh you poor thing. I know it's a terrible, terrible thing to talk about - but will your breeder give you your money back? You know we are all here for you.
7. Thank Goodness I can join in! I've had tea, tidied up and thought I would grace you all with my presence before sloping off for a glass or two (but this generally means the bottle)! I'll not come back after the bottle - because I'd probably be thrown off the forum for obscenities! F.A.R.T on groovers :woohoo:
8. Dave this is absolutely fantastic! I love it - such a cute family photo!!
9. That is awful jackyshay - your poor, poor bird and obviously terrible for yourself. PBFD is devastating and I am so sad for you and your baby. What are you going to do? Are you going to keep him and treat him (although there is no cure, vitamins and supplements can help him live longer). I feel so bad for you - but at least you have an answer now - and there is absolutely nothing you could have done to prevent this. It's not your fault.

Joking asides - I'd buy it, I treat Dave's posts with the utmost respect and would never question anything he told me to do (well, within reason!)

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/10/09 08:41
11. Harvey is 10 months old nearly and fully flighted. He flies all over the place - usually places he knows he can let me join in his "game" of retrieving him from upstairs, on top of the door, in the furthest part of the house! I know people say that clipped birds make it easier for the handler - but I think it would make it harder if I had to go and retrieve Harvey each time I wanted him - I just call for him and he comes flying! It's lovely for that element of surprise too - I have my doors propped open with little blocks, so the doors are unable to be shut without effort - and if I'm standing in the kitchen I can hear this flapping as he tears through the house and lands on my shoulder for a little kiss. It's a hard decision, and one I am glad I didn't have the choice to make (my breeder doesn't agree with clipping). Good luck in your decision - and look forward to hearing more about you and your new baby

Please do not think people are being rude in their expressions - we mean it with all heartfelt emotions - we feel for both you and Coco. Everyone is trying to assist you - but in different ways - Dave is giving you the best "technical" help you will receive, and others are putting themselves in your situation. Honestly - don't take it that people are scorning you - it's your breeder we are scorning. I am sure you are doing everything possible for Coco - and wish you luck with your hand rearing
13. Well Judy, you just said what I was thinking - I could have done it too - I bet she's a taxi driver during the day
14. Emma is so lovely - I was laughing at the fact she just kept twisting the pen top around as well as chatting away! That's my girl - multi-tasking (boys, you won't have a clue what I'm talking about here)! I love the videos of Emma - keep them coming!
15. She's not that good - she is just foot to the floor and straight forward - a couple of spins and turns would have made it more impressive (oh and a couple of rocks, or other suitable obstacles)
16. luvparrots wrote: Lucky old you Janet - you want to see the tops of my doors every night and also my t-shirts each evening! Harvey sticks his tongue out too - just like he is saving things for later. Harvey never fluffs up at me - but does at my husband - he knows to give him a wide berth for a bit before trying to touch him tho!
17. So - that's you three T..T ing then - I'm sitting here with a bloody Diet 7 up (straight, no vodka)! Now, tomorrow is a different story.....! {Communicate-000200D5}
18. Mayo Light! So American! I'll have Low Fat Mayonnaise on my lettuce leaves please!!! I presume that is a chicken salad without the chicken Judy?
19. Judy, I have been thinking that for the past two hours. Janica, unless this baby bird was left on your doorstep, what on earth possessed you to take this on with little, or even no knowledge? Could you take this baby back to the breeder - I am so afraid for it? Please don't take this as criticism or being rude - I don't mean to be - I am worried for you, as well as the baby.
20. jackyshay wrote: I'm a bit confused - nobody told you to remove the seeds from your cage - merely to offer pellets too - so I find this statement from your breeder slightly perplexing. You only asked for advice about pellets yesterday - so how can your breeder decide that it's due to persevering with pellets - surely you feed your grey vegetables and fruit too? Not only seed? I really hope that your breeder is experienced enough to help your baby - but I'm worried about his reasons he feels that your baby is malnourished.
21. Harvey blushed because I was telling him off! He'd just put his beak (AGAIN) through my lampshade!!
22. Damn! There's this big fluffy grey feathery thing in the way of these babies! Tell Camilla to shift!! Can't wait to see this pan out - I am LOVING LOVING LOVING IT! :silly:
23. judygram wrote: Me too - but minus the chicken - I'm a vegetarian!!! I think it's a bit canabalistic - but all in the line of great parrot care! Hope Rebel accepts the chicken bone and isn't chicken!
24. Back to the chicken bones - here's Harvey showing you how to eat COOKED chicken bone!!

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2009/10/10 04:40
25. I cannot believe that you are feeding your bird raw meat - would you eat raw chicken yourself? It is absolutely DEADLY - Please type this into google: Feeding Parrots Raw Meat - it's really clever and brings up hundreds of articles - mostly entitled NEVER, DANGEROUS, DEADLY etc etc. If you are feeding your parrot raw meat you are taking unneccessary, stupid risks and I deplore you for not taking Dan's absolutely, bang on, correct advice.
