So, now that the King & Queen have answered my question - I don't feel so stupid! And I now know that all of you are on a mission to embarrass your parrot!! Thank you for confirming I'm not totally loopy

A woman went to a pet shop & immediately spotted a large, beautiful parrot. There was a sign on the cage that said £50.00, which seemed awfully cheap. "Why so little," she asked the pet store owner. The owner looked at her seriously and said, "Look, I should tell you first that this bird used to live in a house of Prostitution and sometimes it says some pretty vulgar stuff." The woman thought about this, but decided she had to have the bird anyway. She took it home and hung the bird's cage up in her living room and waited for it to say something. The bird looked around the room, then at her, and said, "New house, new madam." The woman was a bit shocked at the implication, but then found it kind of amusing. When her 2 teenage daughters returned from school, the bird saw them enter and said, "New house, new madam, new girls." The girls and the woman were a bit offended but then began to laugh about the situation considering how and where the parrot had been raised. Moments later, the woman's husband came home from work. The bird looked at him and said, "Hi, Bob!"

Well, here it goes! Do parrots blush? I swear that when I told Harvey off before the area around his eyes (the bit that isn't feathery - sorry, I'm so untechnical) went a little "pink" - like a naughty little child! Am I imagining this!!! I think this has to be the stupidest question I have read on this forum and apologise now - I will accept the stupid hat this week!!

pga7602 wrote: And you think a seed skirt will help! Ha Ha! It might catch the seed - but carrot, broccoli, green beans, peas, spinach - they're a lot heavier and easier to throw past the seed skirt! Oh my once lovely hall carpet........!

Ha Ha!! He sounds like Wallace from Wallace & Gromet! You can really hear that accent Davey - and there was me thinking you were a posh Yorkshire bloke! It's clear that Alfie is naughty (like Harvey) if he's picked up "stop it"!! Thanks for this - it's really made me giggle

jackyshay wrote: I think it maybe the weather. Will see. I wouldn't pin your hopes on this! I live in the UK and Harvey isn't acting like this - it's not too warm here either! Hope the vet is able to help you out - keep us informed x

Gosh, I can't stand it in my laundry room - and I'm 35 with big lungs! Take your poor baby out of there immediately! I agree with the others - your baby will be feeling the effects and also will be feeling left out. You have to treat your grey the way you would a small child - you couldn't lock him/her in a bedroom or laundry room - your baby needs to be with you as much as possible. Pleaese move your cage to the family area - so it can feel part of your family.

The pellets are very important nutritionally - keep persevering. I am currently trying to change Harvey to Harrisons and the only way he will eat it is mixed in with some palm oil and his veggies (which is fine when I'm in, but not during the day due to veggies going stale)- it might help if they are "soggy". Harvey too loves his seed, and I will often find him with a dirty face, having put his head nearly through his veggies to get to it! The bottom of the cage thing is a mystery though - Harvey NEVER ventures down there - but I know lots do! Good luck! I'm with you all the way!

When I get home (I'm at work) I'm going to sit Harvey right in front of my monitor and let Emma show him how it's done! Actually - can I just send him round to yours and perhaps you can coax him with the joys of Harrisons!! Thanks for showing me what I'm missing! A note to Emma: SMARTY PANTS!

Fendana wrote: Good God! I'd been in bed two hours by the time you even posted this!!! I love it when Harvey's in the mood for a cuddle and a kiss (when HE chooses to be of course). My life too has changed dramatically since Harvey's arrival - he definitely keeps me on my toes!

I know how smart Ecko is - but your project now is to get him to DO your homework! Thanks for the video and the phot - Ecko is soooo cute

We work full time too - Harvey averages about 8 - 9 hours on a week day, but I make sure he has the 12 on the weekend - he's out most of the day then, so I don't feel guilty putting him to bed earlier. I would add that Harvey is in a much better mood when he does get his full quota - but I really wouldn't worry too much - as long as when you do put him to bed it's quiet and out of the way if possible. Good luck in your search and decision.

The forum was down? Wasn't here - I had a whale of a time looking at the google snapshot from 2 September!!! I was just about to say hello to Julie when it all went wrong!

Well, all I can say you lot is that your birds have absolutely no taste whatsoever!!! Next week I will be introducing Harvey to classical music - and perhaps the week after to his first musical instrument (was thinking about a flute). I will scoff at you all when I'm on Britain's Got Talent......and it all started with Doris Day film! Susan loopdeloop Boyle - I'll be more famous than her!!!

I am so excited - I'm like an expectant auntie! Well done Gonzo & Camilla (and Dave)! This is absolutely fascintating and I too would like to thank you for this great opportunity ~ and will follow (expectantly!)

Can you not introduce him to the ironing? That would be my ultimate aim!! What a cheeky boy Darius is - but the size of him running up the hall would be like a small dog!! You'll have to catch that one on camera
-
Hey! Who got Mayfair!! What great photos of Beau - just shows that you can't do ANYTHING without them nowadays doesn't it - and especially board games!! I love the fact he's picked the cup up, shook it and found himself a six! Ask him what Saturday's lottery numbers are!!
-
Ah Robin - he's so lovely! I love the one of Dixie summing him up and also the one of them both preening "I can look better than you buddy"!! He just looks so at home
-
This stuff stinks! He's now ripped it apart - he loves it and it smells of vinegar! It's horrible - but he seems to like it!!! I'm not sure if its raw or if it is processed - but the smell of vinegar makes me wonder

Hi Tommy - just checked your profile as I knew you were from around here somewhere! The Harrison's is a little more expensive that say Kaytee or other brands - but you use less and there is less waste. I get mine from www.midlandparrots.com - I'm sure they'll ship to Ireland - you're probably nearer than me!! He's since had it mixed in with his veggies at teatime and I have come into a bit dust when it's on its own in his cage! I would say for your macaw that you'd need the bigger stuff though!!

I'm flicking through the forum and watching Doris Day on You Tube! Yes! 35 and a closet Doris fan - whatever next - my secret is out!!!
