Yay!!!! He is absolutely gorgeous! No stopping you now with your introduction to photobucket! Glad you got it sorted xx
-
Harvey would NEVER fly to the floor (even for a tub of palm nuts). Alfie didn't care did she - straight down there after her lego. Great video too Lyn x

Meiko is a lucky boy!! What an absolute bargain!! He's a lovely lovely looking birdie - I love them - but they are FAR too big for me! Have you tried using photobucket - much easier to use and there's an idiot's guide (not that I'm saying you're an idiot!!!) here that may help you post some more pictures of gorgeous Meiko! http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-photography-room/89533-how-to-post-picturesphoto-tuturial.html

I've come in tonight to three little red bum feathers and 9 grey feathers (the most he's moulted in a day). All the little feathers are there though - they are jet black, which I find fascinating that they change to grey so quickly. Get the vacuum to the ready

For those of you who laughed - Ahem JILL!!
JillyBeanz replied to Joolesgreyuk's topic in Other Birds
I've just put this back on to show Michael - and I'm laughing again! I await with baited breath the one of Beau modelling one. Karma definitely winging it's way to you for my best laugh of the day  -
Hi Lee - I echo Judy and Debbie's sentiments. I learned everything I needed to know before purchasing Harvey. I don't think I've even been anywhere else. Everybody here is so knowledgeable. Any questions you need to ask (however silly you deem them - but will probably have already been asked by me!!) just ask away! You will either be desperate to get one - or we'll put you right off with their antics!

Oh well then, unfortunately my scientific reasoning has been used up this evening <br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/10/13 20:28

Ah, thanks for all your kind comments - the picture was just taken on my phone (which hasn't got a particularly good camera on it). Just so you don't think it's a "frame up" - here's the little so and so in action - actually nicking it!! <br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/10/13 20:41

Ha ha ha ha ha! I'm nearly weeing myself laughing!!! Poor Argyle - firstly you label him with such a crap name and then dress him up like a girl!! That hat is WAY too big!! Eeeh, Julie - I am so sorry for mocking - I cannot believe that he's gone into it - there are tears rolling down my cheeks! Thanks for the laugh - you have honestly made me laugh out very loudly  -
I think they cost enough these parrots without having to buy extras for them to poop on! Newspaper is a great invention, we read it, we line their cage with it, they read it and the news they don't like, they poop on it! I'm sticking with the newspaper

Harvey's about the same age and it's the same in my house! He has pin feathers all around his head, extending to his back and he has pulled a few greys feathers out and chewed them to bits! I was totally reassured by everyone on here in my hour of panic last month - it is a moult and those feathers are falling so that those itchy pins can come through. Harvey has been soothed by regular showering and regular aloe gel sprays - seems to have helped immensely. So calm down - I know EXACTLY how you are feeling and don't worry!! <br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/10/13 13:33

Very nice pictures Lyn - is it an aeroplane or a racing car chassis! I can just see you now, after Alfie's gone to bed, in the middle of the living room carpet with your lego. For Alfie my eye!! AND you've only posted the pocket picture because you've got a lovely flat bum!!
-
You'll not be able to wait Diana - you've waited all this time and now your dream comes true! I can remember the day I could pick Harvey up - I was at work and had to leave to go and get him early because I was so excited! Can't wait to see some pictures - and oh, what a talented lady your mum is!!
-
Deb - presumably if it is ringed it is registered with the parrot society - I know Harvey is! Why haven't these people been in touch with them regarding the details? Hope he/she finds his/her home though!
-
Another fab picture from you Jack - what a couple of cuties - I could give them home!!
-
You know what it is - a simple, natural picture of a parrot and some fruit - and you lot (well some) have to turn it into an alcohol fest. I don't know - what kind of image are you projecting to the kids!!

Hello, My name is Rhonnie and My Bird Is Ceasar
JillyBeanz replied to RhonnieS's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hi Rhonnie - Welcome to the forum. Harvey isn't quite as bad as Caesar sounds - but he doesn't tolerate my husband very well either. Harvey will pick and choose whether he will be handled by my husband - and usually it's a negative! This all changed on our return from a two week holiday in July - and my husband has tried time and time again to gain Harvey's trust again, but to no avail. I hope he doesn't give up though. Harvey's not a treat type bird either - I've bought almonds, walnuts, pine nuts, yoghurt coated pineapple - you name it and he look at it as though it is poison! He does love palm nuts though - so they are his treat (although sparingly - they cost a bit!!). The bit about Caesar hanging on - have you tried cupping his head with your free hand and placing him back in the cage - I do this with Harvey when he's been naughty - otherwise he'd just fly away in defiance! Looking forward to hearing more about you and Caesar -
Late one night, a burglar broke into a house that he thought was empty. He stealthily crept through the lounge and was stopped dead in his tracks when he heard a loud voice clearly saying, 'Jesus is watching you!' Silence returned to the house, so the burglar crept forward again. 'Jesus is watching you', the voice rang out again. The thief stopped dead again. He was frightened out of his wits. Frantically, he looked all around. In a dark corner, he spotted a birdcage and in the cage was a parrot. He asked the parrot, 'Was that you who said Jesus is watching me?' 'Yes', said the parrot. The burglar breathed a heavy sigh of relief and asked the parrot: 'What's your name?' 'Ronald', said the bird. 'That's a stupid name for a parrot, 'sneered the burglar.' What idiot named you Ronald?' The parrot said, 'The same idiot who named the rottweiller Jesus.'

That's awful - poor Dusty. I'm with the others - if he's calmer out of the cage, then let him out - sounds like he's going to cause more damage than good by strutting around the cage. Fingers crossed it heals up soon

new to the site!! hello everyone!
JillyBeanz replied to jml0921's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Ah, never mind Jess - just wasn't to be. The wait now will be so infuriating! I know it was for me and I only had four weeks to wait! You'll just have to hope we don't all put you off before then - it just gives you extra time to read of our woes and mishaps!! -
Ah, poor little GBG - glad to hear he is eating better - the wings will be next! You're doing such a great job Robin - I hope the vet trip goes well. On the subject of weight - Harvey only weighs between 430 to 440g in the morning, always weighed after his bomb and I don't think he's underweight - GBG will get there - he just has to be thankful for you
-
I was in the kitchen, drying the dishes and Harvey came to join me (of course) - I turned around to watch him help himself from the fruit bowl (naughty boy)! I couldn't tell him off - it was a healthy affair - he'd taken a lime straight from the fruit bowl! Now if only I could show such restraint  <br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/10/12 21:21

Harvey's the same - as soon as I move he's onto me - I do understand why though (good looks, wit, humour.....!) I've been trying this "stay" business - he looks at me like I'm stupid, lets me go to where I was going, and then comes after me anyway! I've tried this for MONTHS now - and he's still insolent! Tracey - Harvey isn't too happy with my husband and kids nowadays - and we are really trying to overcome this (with minimal results)! Keep persevering like we are and one day we may live in harmony
