This could be the case yes. If his his poops look normal and the breast bone looks "meaty" and he seems otherwise ok then he is probably still settling in. If you are still in doubt why not send Dave007 a pm. He is our resident expert in these things ;-)

Hello Debbie and welcome. Your story was so sad but Dudley sounds just wonderful, he seems very well adjusted for a CAG as generally they tend to be quite nervous and skittish. I'm so pleased Dudley has found a permanent home with you and your family. As for Nani he will be right at home in the Amazon room. Don't forget the photographs ;-)

Hi Paul, did you get your macaw from a breeder, a pet shop or is he/she a re-home? Could you also give the approx. age of your bird, this will help give us an idea to what the problem could be. It could well be that the bird is home-sick, it is very early days and my guess is that he is still settling into his new surroundings. I hope someone else will chip in and give you another opinion.

All's well that ends well, you have been very lucky this time and I rejoice with you as we all do here of course. You did the right thing in getting Charlie checked-out at the vet. As for the wing clip it has obviously given you peace of mind for now but please know that a clip will grow out eventually. vigillance is the only answer but no doubt you have both learned from this and I'm sure Charlie won't be going outside any time soon.

Oh WOW another happy ending. Praise the lord! Please read lovethatgrey's post about Emma before going ahead with the wing clip. Your Charlie wasn't clipped which helped him survive. It is your husband who needs to understand you don't go outside with a bird on your shoulder - even a clipped bird!

This is vey funny, I'm not sure the Americans among us will understand all that Scottish jargon or the accent though. I remember when this song first came out, just after the Dolly Parton DIVORCE in the 70s, now where's that damned blush smiley lol.

You are soooo near form finding Charlie and yet so far. It is a good sign that you can hear him, he is not far away. You must try to make yourself heard to him, that is likely to stop him moving on further away from you. Never give up!
