  1. This is wonderful news!! Aoodi is finally getting the help he needs woohoo!!! Please do keep us updated with his progress we are all hoping and praying for him to get well soon,
  2. Heehee, just like the queen I am "releasing" these new pics on the eve of Argyle'e 4th (I think but possible 5th) birthday ;-) Here he is enjoying a pine nut Argyle will enjoy extra food treats and out-of-cage time tomorrow. Happy hatchday sweety!
  3. Can't help wondering how Aoodi is doing this morning
  4. hbalkhi, you need to get anti fungal for your baby as soon as possible but you need a vet's advice for the correct dosage. If I were you I'd phone the first one again and ask him for advice, he is your nearest and time is not on your side. You must act quickly to save your baby.
  5. This is very sad and very much down to the human race, consumerism, greed and our insatiable apitite for oil - we all share the guilt for that. I have heard that in some parts of the US (Louisiana I think) there are anti-British demos because BP happens to be a British company but it is aso a worldwide company and a worldwide problem (oil leaks) and we are all responsible every time we fill our cars up.
  6. You really don't have a choice do you. If you don't get him to a vet he will die anyway, he sounds very poorly to me. If you don't trust an avian try a normal vet - if these are any more trustworthy, if not you will just have to go to your nearest avian in the hope it is a good one. Good luck and please do keep us informed.
  7. I think next molt will see them lose the more beautiful red tail feathers Jill. Argyle's tail feathers are quite long and stunning colours. We saved a few (cos I'm sentimental lol) but now we collect them for a friend of ours who uses them for fishing, apparently the fish really go for them!
  8. What made me wonder about the nest building was he seemed to be trying to push the newspaper into his food bowl but he has been back to his normal self today, maybe it was something & nothing lol we await to see if it happens again. It was kinda funny how he was chattering away whilst between the newspaper lol
  9. Thanks everyone for the replies, Jay, Argyle is a hahns macaw ;-)
  10. I think he's just coming-up 4 but that could possibly be 5. I think for a hahns macaw that is mature.
  11. Argyle is displaying some strange behaviour today, behaviour I've not seen since I've had him (almost a year) he has been on the floor of his cage, busying himself, chittering to himself all the while and getting himself between the newspaper sheets. Now he has pulled up a sheet and is shredding it. Do you think Argyle may infact be a "she" and could this be nesting behaviour?
  12. One question though, why did he jump? What was he up to? ;-)
  13. Wow, exciting times for you then. Let the fun commence!
  14. Woohoo for Tealc!!! This has brightened my day!
  15. Had to share this: Steve works 3 different shifts at work and when he is on earlies he leaves the house at 5.30am. He leaves the fids covered as it is my job to uncover and then give them their breakfast. One early morning last week he was sitting in the living area eating his breakfast (I was fast asleep upstairs) he says he heard "my voice" coming from the living area say "hello" - scared the crap out of him because he "knew" I was upstairs asleep! He says he visably jumped as he didn't even think the birds were awake (of course we all know that our fids are ALWAYS aware of our presence) he thought there was 2 of me - now that IS scary!
  16. Some excellent advice given. Frankly I don't like the sound of your breeder at all, I don't believe any breeder worth his salt would not allow a potential buyer to see the baby and surroundings before buying. Sounds to me like a right cowboy! Thxando40, I'm so glad you sound this sight, there are some knowlegeable members here who will guide you in bringing up your grey.
  17. Yes Beau has a "nuhnight scritch" as I cover half of the cage he walks over to his sleep perch and bows his head in preparation for a short & sweet scritch.
  18. Oh I am sorry to read this, poor Bellino! Don't worry, I'm sure he will be fine after a good rest, sometimes these things scare them (as well as us) and it takes a while for them to get over it, also be prepared for him to be a little grouchy while his patched-up area is healing. Meanwhile give him a big kiss from me
  19. Happy hatchday Biscotti, hope mommy spoils you rotton today
  20. Well Llamar looks simply gorgeous and the picture of health to me in those lovely pictures, but then what do I know lol. I have to admit that the peanut shells was the first and only thing that I saw wrong in those pics.
  21. What a wonderful happy ending! Thank you so much for taking on and caring so much for this sweet grey.
  22. IMO a bite to the face - particularly a child's face IS SERIOUS and completely different to the "nips" you describe! I wasn't aware this lady asked your permission to post and you say you are not trying to be a jerk??? I will say no more.
  23. I should also add that most greys are not over fond of bathing as others sometimes are so he may never love bathing as your conure does but eventually he should be able to tolerate it. Please don't feel it necessary to buy expensive scales to weigh your grey, just ordinary digital kitchen scales will be sufficient, you may already have some suitable ones.
  24. What a sad story, I do hope Dave responds quickly, meanwhile please take Jay's excellent advice because he handles dozens of rescues and has seen it all before, believe me he knows what he is talking about. The advice you have been given already by others is good advice you should take seriously. One point, when I first had my grey from a baby he was also petrified (it scared the crap out of me too!) of being sprayed with water but I persevered and kept it up twice a week, I set the nozzle to a fine mist and started by misting avove his head, just so it fell gently onto him like ultra-fine raindrops. I think you could start by doing this and your grey will gradually accept this, as he tolerates it increase the frequency until eventually every other day. Good luck and please keep us updated with your progress.
