  1. Hi Fred and welcome, I'm sorry it appears that you made your first appearance at the wrong time but I hope you are aware that these "spats" are few and far between on this forum although they do occur from time to time on all forums - this is actually one of the better ones, it is in general a very friendly and helpful place to be but forums by their very nature can throw up problems when there are faceless people behind keyboards. I hope you have not been put off, if as you say you have seen the thread on poor Emma's dissapearance you will see that we all care very much about each other's parrots. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I hope when you have finished "lurking" you will decide to join our family.
  2. Still wishing and hoping for some good news regarding Emma who as I have said previously I think of as one of my own, her videos and pictures brought her into our homes and that is how I and others came to love her. It is clear to me that Adina was and is devoted to Emma and she will be distraught right now. Adina, please know that we are all with you in spirit even though we are in various parts of the world. I hope Emma is found safe and sound very soon, I know you will be doing all you can to bring her home. Sending hugs xxx
  3. I am also very sad that this "episode" has ended with the resignation of a forum moderator and one of most prolific posters on here.
  4. Oh no! Not dear sweet Emma, that is TERRIBLE! I for one am praying she is found very soon she must be very scared and her mum devestated and beside herself with worry.
  5. Apologies in advance to the American members cos I luv ya but.... WE'RE GONNA SPANK THE YANKS!
  6. Brazil are always one of the favourites to win and I'd be quite happy to see them win. I expect ENGLAND will be knocked out by the Germans and probably on penalties, that is the usual scenario.
  7. How's the little fella doing today Jude?
  8. LOL you won't be seeing the Americans beat the British any time soon as the British don't have a team, come to think of it I don't think they'll beat the ENGLISH any time soon either ;-)
  9. I share your enthusiasm Jill but I fear England will not do too well overall. Think we'll beat the Americans though.
  10. I'm going back 20 odd years now but we used to have housemartins' nests stuck to our house (and neighbouring houses)under the guttering where we lived and every spring this occured somewhere in the neighbourhood but it is very upsetting when you see it and you are powerless to help. One year we could even see the distressed mother frantically screetching and flying around as if looking for her babies and crying for help. There was one woman who used to lean out of her bedroom window and knock the nests off with a broom, it used to make me really angry but some people are just plain uncaring and ignorant. Lord knows how long it took those birds to build the nests.
  11. Thanks for the wonderful memories Jay and yes 99% of that applies to us Brits too, don't think I've ever seen a firefly though are they like dragonflies? I was a child of the 60s and a teenager of the 70s, and those times were the best! I remember the music was great too. Oh I remember well mum chasing me up the road with a copper stick (remember the coppers for boiling the whites? lol) for being cheeky (some things never change) she never managed to catch me but I dreaded going home for dinner heehee.
  12. Oh boy I so enjoyed watching this video Jayd, I love your flock they all have such great personalities. I love it when they move their heads up and down to "dance", brilliant!
  13. Checking in daily for udpates on Aoodi, keeping fingers crossed.
  14. Welcome Rawleyd, most members here get their greys direct from the breeders but my Beau was also bought from a reputable store - they aren't all rogues though I know many are. You are in for very exciting times with a new grey, they certainly bring lots of joy with them but they are also quite needy, t looks like having been a long time visitor to the forum so have done your homework and are well aware of this though. Should you need any help or advice though we have many knowledgeable members here who can advise you, just ask away. We look forward to reading about Sylvia's homecoming and the months and years that follow.
  15. Thanks for the reminder Jude, I hadn't seen this particular video but I've seen some truly shocking ones of drink-drive and kill your speed campaigns.
  16. Wow she is beautiful and such a long tail. They both beautiful and your daughter too!
  17. Great pictures Jill, I love that java tree, Beau has that very same boing on his stand but he's none too bothered about it lol
  18. Brilliant but I have to ask "is this the behaviour of a monarch?" Can't see our queen sliding down the bannisters somehow lol
  19. That last bit sounds like a good idea to me lol. Actually it's not unusual for a bird to take a dislike to a particular item of clothing, flapping all over the place when you enter the room wearing it, usually a loud colour or design or stripes but I've not heard of a bird trying to stop you changeing before lol.
  20. Thanks for the update Jay. At least you now have something to work on and some answers. You deserve a medal for your persistance and Spock is a very lucky grey to have yourself and Maggie on his side.
  21. I challenge anyone not to fall on love with those pictures! We love you Spock, you show Jay & Maggie who is is king in your palace!
