  1. Weren't they already mods? If they weren't they certainly should've been! LOL
  2. I give Beau 2 - 3 (depending on size) twice a week, I wouldn't offer too many as they are very high in fat. I treat them as I would a treat. As for green ones, I've never seen green ones and would imagine they aren't ripe. I'm not sure how you would ripen them - maybe in a sunny window?
  3. I'm so sorry for your loss, we share your grief on this forum and send you hugs. I think a chat with your vet will give you some answers and help you understand why your sweet grey died.
  4. LOL, it seems I'm on a distinguished road too Jill!
  5. Dee is a top parront, devestated when losing her beloved Juno we wept with her but she is turning that grief into a positive by doing something about it instead of feeling sorry for herself. I admire you for that Dee and I'm so glad you are around on this forum. xx

  6. Testing sig Thanks, I will continue to work on this...sorry.. Talon
  7. Ah Jill, what can I say about Jill LOL. Always here, always full of fun and always...erm paranoid about Harvey! There is no other Jill (what is that I hear you say - thank God for that?!) Just kidding Jill, great to have you on the forum. Harvey & Beau are practically siblings at one month apart in age. xx

  8. Dan you's da man, thank you for all your help and advice which was forthcoming from day 1. You are the voice of reason - always polite (though sometimes that must be difficult lol) and part of my forum family. I hope that you will always be around. x

  9. Along with Caroline my two English "bessy parrot-type mates". Thanks for all your help and advice, particularly with Argyle. Always there form day 1. Thanks Sheila, your friendship is valued. xx

  10. Well what can I say about my mate Jude from t'other side of the pond? Always there for me with help, advice and friendship - not all of it parrot related. Thanks for being you Jude. Luv ya. xx

  11. Janet, As with your children I know you shouldn't have favourites but you are one of mine. You always reply to my posts (no matter how silly) and you come across as a warm, caring human being. Luv ya. xx

  12. Well I'm either as thick as two planks or it just isn't working. My sig just won't work!
  13. Beau always says "bye" when I go into the hall to put my shoes on or to go upstairs LOL. He also says "come on then" when he knows it's time for him to come out - we have a ritual we go through partially drawing curtains and so on. I always say "come on then" when I open his door and offer him my hand to climb on to so he has learned that this means he is about to come out.
  14. To the English and to everyone on the forum. English and proud! What no quiz???
  15. I'm posting this in the grey room but it really concerns parrots in general, the bigger the parrot the more relevent I think. I know we all love our fids and give them the very best we can but I often have a niggling feeling "is it right to have these hugely intelligent birds in our homes?" This thought often springs to mind when visiting parrot conservation sites or reading about rescue cases. I guess some owners will respond by saying "but they were bred and hand reared in captivity and couldn't survive in the wild" true but if there were no demand no one would breed them in the first place would they? It seems to me that a parrot's intelligence and beauty are the two main reasons for us wanting them to grace our homes which makes them their own worse enemy doesn't it. Macaws in particular are huge and so beautiful that it seems positively cruel to deny them their right to fly free in the rainforests, although they do seem to enjoy interacting with humans. Thoughts?
  16. This is a great start to my Monday morning! Thanks for the update Jay, yes he does look rough but he has been holding his weight for a while now and that is a good sign. You go King Spock!
  17. Ah, Dan the voice of reason ;-) Congratulations Dan, it's a pleasure having you on this forum.
  18. This quilt is awsome Dee and a fitting tribute to Juno, even the name is just perfect!
  19. A lovely heartwarming account of Joey taking flight Maggie, thanks for sharing it. Way to go Joey!
  20. Oh what a lovely name - Lilly Grey and such a cutie too. Welcome to the forum and welcome to the adventure which awaits you with your new companion. It's a great idea to have a forum such as this one at your fingertips as owning a grey really is a learning curve, there is sooo much to learn but luckily you have plenty of time to learn it and some experienced and knowledgeable members here to help you. Can't wait to hear about the homecoming!
  21. Oh poor Issac, he must have been terrified, especially with no one there to calm him Unfortunately though we all have to work and quakes can strike at any time, there isn't really anything we can do about it. I'm so pleased he seems ok now.
  22. LOL Beau does that also. Argyle hates the vacuum and makes a racket until I switch off lol
