  1. reg, I have posted a link both on my facebook wall and also on "feathered friends" facebook wall. Hopefully you will soon be on the receiving end of good news. One thought, the more hungry Murphy is the more likely he will make cotact with a human. He has to be getting food from somewhere.
  2. Lovely pics, he is indeed a big boy.
  3. I wish I lived near, even nearish you reg as I would go out on the lookout for Murphy but I didn't even get a message from Parrot Alert, I am too far from you. However Murphy is in my thoughts daily. I hope the newspaper stories combined with all the other coverage you have put about will mean there isn't a pair of eyes closed to your plight. All parrot owners will be sharing in your anxiety to get Murphy back, I hope you know that.
  4. Ok here goes. Well I've been away from this forum for some time, on occasion I browse without signing in but I now work full time and have other commitments so don't visit that often these days, I have however been here a little recently to give help and advice to member Popsicle as there doesn't seem to be many UKers here, also I couldn't help but read updates on poor Missing Murphy and his distraught owner. So update on Beau, he is now 2 years old and talks for England, he really is an incredible talker and says so much these days that I don't think I could remember all his phrases to list, my favourite has to be "I love you, I do". I strongly suspect that Beau is in fact a "she" but I've always spoken to "him" as a boy and until his sex is confirmed otherwise I will continue to do so. I love that bird so much I really do and although he has chosen Steve as his favourite (no doubt about that) I do have my uses and Steve isn't allowed to give goodnight scritches, that is for me alone. Beau loves to have his head scratched, he turns his head into the position he wants scratched, he loves to be scratched very close to his eyes, he closes them and during the scratch the white part of his face turns pink lol. Argyle is now 5 years old and a very bold bird, during the spring he is very agressive. He is going through a reasonably calm phase atm but is territorial of his cage and doesn't come out at all. I tried clipping him against my better judgement, I was advised to do this to "cure" his agression - it didn't work and I have allowed the clip to grow out. I have taken advice from "behaviour experts" but alas Argyle is just..well Argyle. Last year I bought him a new cage and he seems happy enough but being a pre-owned bird I have to wonder why he became so agressive in the first place. Anyway that's the update, I hope everyone else's birds are doing fine and I hope to soon be reading of Murphy's safe retur home.
  5. Aww he still has those baby eyes love him! He is gorgeous Janet but I fear you have caught the dreaded MBS (multiple bird syndrom) disease. How is the canary doing? Whit is his/her name?
  6. When I got mine there was a choice of 3 free-standing stands as well as 1 or 2 hanging ones. I guess what he has on ebay is what he has in stock atm.
  7. No the link you have is I think the cheapest one he does, mine was the most expensive of the 3 but I think he will make to specifications if you ask him. He also does cargo nets for the birds and other stuff too. He has parrots of his own so you know he cares about what he makes.
  8. The stand is a solid pine rope stand and I got it from parrotstandman54 on ebay. His stands are made to last. When mine came it was bigger and better than I could've expected for the money and much better than anything you could buy from Northern Parrots or elsewhere IMO. I have friends who have seen my stand and gone on to get their own from him. The toys you see on mine I have added myself but the stand comes with removable food bowls.
  9. Here is the picture of Beau's Haiti cage as promised - hope it works You should be able to see Beau next to his rope swing but I had to stand a fair bit back to get it all in. This cage is ideal for small rooms as the space is in the height rather than the width. Hope this helps.
  10. popsicle, I have just checked the link and it works for me so I'm not sure why it isn't working for you. I think we have 4 branches in Plymouth but I thought there were others elsewhere too, did you check it out?
  11. I'm not sure if they go as far as Bristol but they are called "The Ark" their greys are all babies but weaned of course (as is UK law) and fully feathered. I once complimented the manager at our local branch for the condition of the parrots and their cages. Here is their website: http://www.thepetexpress.co.uk/ When you find the right grey you will know for he/she will chose you, this may sound strange but when it happens you will know what I meant by that.
  12. Hi Popsicle, Thanks for the pm, unfortunately I didn't get Beau from a breeder but a very good pet shop very close to where I live (I am in SW England) they are a local chain and I would highly recomend them - I pop in there quite often at different times of the day and their birds are always spotlessly clean, in appropriate sized cages and with dried and fresh foods as well as toys, it is clear that the staff love them. The only breeders I am aware of having good reputation are way up north but that's not to say there aren't any! Do you know anyone with a grey? There are some local people here that have parrots but they all got theirs from the same place as me. When are you planning to buy your little guy/gal? I must sort out that cage picture for you!
  13. What only 3 posts for the legend that is our Jude??? Well said guys and Happy Birthday Jude xxx
  14. WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! There IS a God!!! So happy, let's celebrate!!
  15. Stephen, search at dawn and dusk (before and after work) and go to where you last saw him. Take his favourite treats with you. Never give up! Birds are found after having been missing for weeks even months. Issac is out there and scared, he needs you.
  16. Stephen, try this: http://www.911parrotalert.com/
  17. Stephen I am so so sorry, I am truly gutted for you for I know how much you adore Issac. Please stay strong for him, he needs you to be strong and focused. There is nothing I can do for you by way of searching so I am cross-posting on other forums, I hope this helps raise awareness. Praying for Issac's safe return to you. xxx
  18. Hi, where are you in Plymouth?

  19. Cap'n Jaspers now there's a name! Is it actually a resteraunt now? Back in the 70's it was just waterside stall selling seafood! The last time I was in London was in the mid 90's, I find it to be very fast moving and tireing. It's quite a long way from here and as Judy is only going to be here for a week and money will be tight it really isn't an option. Everything in London is very expensive too and Harrods??? OMG don't even start me on the prices there. As it is situated in Kensington that should tell you all you need to know. Sounds like you had a good time Dr Tak but I bet you got through a lot of money! I will do my best to give Judy a good time.
  20. I can't wait either Jude, we will have a ball. I must map out the week to cram as much into it as possible. Unfortunately I will have to work a little bit but I am rearranging appointments to do as little work as possible that week. Luckily we have some wonderful places to visit in around the city itself and we can go further afield on free days. I only wish you were staying longer! I don't normally go out evenings but I must take you to some typical English pubs and perhaps a restaraunt. Are you sure you are ready for my cooking Jude??? The Barbican is a typical tourist hot spot, (from which the pilgrim fathers set sail on their discovery of America) a harbour which in the spring hosts a jazz festival, it has pubs, cafes and quaint little shops which sell (amongst the usual tourist goodies) pastys (Jude you haven't been to SW England unless you have sampled a pasty whilst here) and ice creams which you can have with a dollop of clotted cream on top (clotted cream being another SW delicacy) now I have to work out in my head which pubs we can visit and are they ready for us?? Our city centre is quite good but I guess not by American standards but we can visit as it's walkable (is that a word?) from the Barbican and then there is Plymouth Hoe from where Sir Frances Drake who upon sighting the approaching Spanish Armada famously finished playing his game of bowls before defeating them! Lots of open spaces around there too. I have posted pics on here in the past of my neighbouring woodland, we can spend an hour there too Jude and go deer spotting - good thing hubby won't be here eh? The list is endless but the weather is always a worry, September is usually dry though so here's hoping. Who knows Jude, if I get this job I am after I just might be heading your way in the not-too-distant future.
  21. I can't help wondering if maybe Jay saw something anti-American in my thread but really the thread was posted as a tribute to our servicemen it was not a political statement and I felt it was hijacked and turned into a political thread. I did what Penny advises and asked for Venom to pm me if he wanted to take the discussion further, he didn't and no pms were exchanged between me and anyone else on the subject. There aren't many more pro American Brits than me, Judy and Janet are among my favourite posters on the forum and I posted on your 9/11 anniversary thread and cried with you when the events unfolded. Thank you evryone for the replies especially Dave and Dan who talk a lot of sense, I will not be making any more posts on this thread. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
  22. No you aren't being controvercial but it's funny it it mostly sericemen or ex serviecemen who hold the view that they are "just doing their job", my eldest son himself is often to be heard quoting this. As for your view "bottom line is the americans are our allies, we help them they help us,its that simple" I'm sorry but I disagree with this and I'm not about to go into the reasons why today or on here. Maybe you could email or pm me and I will explain but not here or now. Forgetting the opinion of the serviceman or ex serviceman, what about the families? They didn't chose to have a son or daughter, bring that child up only for him/her to chose to join up and go on to be killed in their prime.
