  3. These 2 articles are very useful article to read in helping us know about what's going on with our parrots on the inside. http://www.wingwise.com/droppings.htm http://www.oldworldaviaries.com/text/miscellaneous/poop.html Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/28 03:09<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/28 03:11
  4. It's very normal for her to be frightened of it. I would just take it away for a few days and give her a break. In a few days just place it where she can still see it but not too close so that she seems frightened. Let it sit there for a few days and then try again and see if she'll perch on it.. but pay attention to her body language... if she seems frightened and freaks out .. back off and try again some other time or day. Don't ever push or force her. The key is gentle persistance. You'll just have to follow her cues and rhythm. She may never like or feel comfortable with it..it may take a long while... but perhaps one day she will realize it's ok. I wouldn't get rid of it just yet... that's for sure.
  5. I was just wondering where you all like to purchase goodies for your feathered loved ones. I have purchased from the following with very satisfactory results and so have other parrot owners that I know. http://www.birdsafestore.com/ http://www.oisellerielavoliere.com/perroquet/boutique/index.php?language=En http://www.nalanitoys.com/ http://www.birdbrains.ca/en/products/all/index.html
  6. Thanks for sharing. Baxter helped ease your grieving and healing process. That is very special.
  7. I was just wondering if you'd all like to share your unique stories about Why you decided to invite an african grey or timneh grey into your life, How you met your feathered companion and How have they enriched your life. I look forward to reading about all of your experiences. Thanks for sharing.{Nature-00020095}<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/28 01:12
  8. Poor little Nesh. He may or may not improve over time. What he needs from you is alot of love, patience, and acceptance . What I would recommend is purchasing some stable rope perches for him to use. This may help him build his confidence and balance because they are easier to grip. Also on perches with slippery surfaces I would wrap vet wrap to give him a better grip. If possible try to purchase perches of various widths so that he can exercise his toe muscles. I also would like to suggest trying not to make him more stressed and uncomfortable than he already is with his situation. Here are a few links where you can purchase some of the stuff that I have mentioned. http://www.birdsafestore.com/Products/Vetrap-Rolls-2--5-yards__VETRAP.aspx http://www.birdsafestore.com/naturalperches.aspx http://www.birdsafestore.com/Products/Comfy-Perch--Large__BD-CP3.aspx Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/28 01:01<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/28 01:22

  14. Tuki looks absolutely gorgeous.
  15. This breeder sounds so much better than the first one! Sounds like she is taking care of them just like they were one of her very own and that really is the way it should be. I am so happy for you and am crossing my fingers that this one is the real deal. Skekski looks wonderfully calm and if the breeder is as great as she sounds you're going to have a healthy, confident and self assured baby. (kind of like my Emma:) . . I hope you'll be able to see them soon and see if you feel the same connection in person. Videos are a great start.. but touching and holding them will really speak to your heart and you'll be able to feel if the parrot is as comfortable with you also.<br><br>Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/27 17:17

  18. Welcome aboard Jake. Gus sounds wonderful!
  19. In her adventure pack I have taken Emma, to the outdoor markets, the park, the petstore, the bookstore, the hardware store, the grocery store and to the vet. I have noticed that when I go to the grocery store... I must always purchase or have some fruit on hand for her to eat or else she starts to do flips in her cage and then I worry that she'll get poop on her head (I think she knows that it drives me crazy) but somehow she manages to do flips in such a small area without touching any poop at all. I have noticed that she is always as quiet as a mouse when we are out. It is pretty great because most people don't even realize that I have entered the premises with a parrot. I must admit that this year I am a bit hesitant to take her to crowded area because now she can talk english. I'd really hate for her to pick up some inappropriate language.. it's just something I'll have to think about. 20. I think that Emma is going through her biggest molt so far. I've been finding bigger feathers on the floor as well as some tail feathers too. She is about a year old and there is no way I would describe her as shabby looking at the moment. Some of you have even seen videos of her. This is just my humble opinion, but I do thnk that each parrot experiences their molt differently. I also think that the region where they reside can play a factor in terms of frequency as well as the general health and diet of the parrot before the molt occurs and during the molt too.
  21. I have a self cleaning oven and I definitely will not ever use this feature while I have my birds either.
  22. I wouldn't use bleach around my parrots. The fumes are pretty strong and irritating.
