Here's hoping he's a boy!!

Awesome picture! She's never going to forgive you for this one and doesn't look too impressed!

Hi and welcome aboard! I'm a fellow Canuckie too!

I think you are crazy but I think you have a great heart at the same time. Are you sure you wish to take on the extra grey. There are only so many hours in a day. Seriously, only you can make this decision. Goodluck:) .

Ahjari sounds very unique. Have you put a deposit on your baby so that the breeder can start calling your baby by its name yet?

I wish I was handy and crafty but I really am not... I definitely would save alot of money if I were though!

Carol you can still clean the house the way you normally do:) . I'm pretty methodical about cleaning and I do it every single day for my health and the bird's health. Just have the litte one be in another room while your're cleaning and if there are odors.. then give the room a good airing out by opening the windows before your feathered one returns. That is one of the reasons why I have the swings in different parts of my home. Each swing is placed strategically so that I don't have to constantly be in the same room as my parrots, yet they can still view me from afar and know that their flock is fine. I in the meantime can continue to do the things that I need to do..i.e cleaning:( This way Emma also becomes acquainted to different rooms and can hang out with me when I am at my computer or in the guest room. It's a good thing to get your parrot used to change at an early age too. I must admit that I don't use febreeze though. Do they have an unscented version?

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/30 14:58

I don't know much about cockatiels except that they are very cute and can have quite the personality.. but I am part of another forum and several of the other members have cockatiels and some have even bred cockatiels too. They are very friendly and I know they'd be glad to provide helpful advice. Here is the link http://pionusparrot.com/pionusforum/index.php

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/30 14:43 -

Hi Kia! Welcome aboard!

I just purchased this perch and am so glad. Emma gets very bold and brazen sometimes and bites when she is not pleased with me. Today I got nailed twice. Both times after I got off the phone. I know, I know... I should have learned my lesson by now... she dislikes me being on the phone and does not hesitate to express it when the opportunity presents itself. This perch will really help me tons. The rest of you might want to purchase some too for training your parrots and to save your fingers. http://www.bird.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=501055

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/30 03:28

I use Oxyfresh cleaning gel every week. It is very mild and works like a charm. It is also known to inactivate the the avian polyoma virus. My avian vet uses it as well as the petshope where Emma and Sachi came from. You can purchase it at this link. For my regular house cleaning duties... I use my regular cleaners but make sure the parrots aren't in the same room and I also open the windows on all sides of my home to air out the place. http://www.theperchstore.net/cleaning-supplies-disinfectants-oxyfresh.html Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/30 03:10

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/30 03:32

Almonds, walnuts, any fruit, unsalted natural rice cake, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, rice cake, whole wheat toast, pecans, she loves grapes too.

Feel better soon Cracker. I'm sending healing thoughts to both you and your Mama.

What a handsome fellow and kudos to you for all of your patience, understanding and persistance with him. I am not in your situation at the moment... but it is bound to happen at some point I guess:unsure: . All I can think of is "stick training" which I have already started with my grey when she is on top of her cage because she gets a little bit cocky.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/29 22:51

Hi Raphael and welcome aboard. I think every parrot is different and accustomed to different routines. She may be behaving this way because she was used to more Out of cage time. Have you had a chance to discuss her history with the previous owners?
-
David, It's a great cage. You did a wonderful thing to purchase it for your Shanti. I do not wish to discourage you or put doubts in your mind about your purchase. I just felt obligated to share my experience and give you the heads up for something that could eventually happen. Believe my .. I take very good care of ALL of my belongings. I felt pretty bummed out when this happened and felt like they could have done a better job but it was ok my parrots had had a great summer in it and I decided to take matters into my own hand to make it a better product.

Yes.. even in following these instructions that come with the pack I'm sure you will all experience my similar situation at some point, especially if you use the pack often and regularly. I never removed the complete cage from the canvas.. it wasn't necessary... but often I would remove the dome Part to insert some treats, my wallet or a water cup in the secret compartment. One of the reasons why I like the cage is that the parrots don't seem too confined in it. They can aslo view what's going on in front of them and on both sides if I wish to pull up the canvas or keep one side covered for security and privacy. Re: the perch.. I replaced it with a cotton one. The food cups Emma and Sachi don't use at all. This year I am prepared! Emma and Sachi will see so much more:) Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/29 21:43 Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/29 21:46 Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/29 21:53 Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/29 21:55

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/03/29 22:01
