  1. Hi tenbye1, welcome to the Grey family. I hope you enjoy the Greyforums and I look forward to hearing more about you and your new greys.
  2. Hi Ashley, you certainly have some fine looking parrots! Welcome to the Grey family!
  3. If you look around the internet, you will see information about parrots dying if they are in the home when a self-cleaning oven is being used. So to be on the safe side I remove my parrots from the inside of my home. Therefore, I clean my oven in the spring or summer when it is warm enough for my parrots to be outside. I would rather be safe than sorry and thankfully my oven doesn't get very dirty very often.
  4. Nice to hear from you Morana. Great update on Zak and so glad all is working out for you both. Zak looks great in your pictures!! Looking forward to hearing more when you get a chance.
  5. As for the toys, my parrots love things that make noise. Bells and a real hit here with my birdies. Chewing on wood is another so they have lots of wooden toys. Have you tried playing with the toys with your grey.
  6. Haha Gwen! Louie certainly keeps me young and very tired. He is always causing mischief with my greys!
  7. Thanks everyone!!!! Louie is such a joy in my life. He is so different from my greys and he is certainly his own man! I have replaced many a ceiling toy hook with heavy and stronger ceiling hooks because this guy is very rough on any toy and they come crashing down. He swings and twirls around on the ceiling boings as if he were an acrobat. He certainly a very happy guy and a blessing to have around!
  8. I never take my parrots out of their cages. They just come out on their own. I am retired so their cage doors are open all day long and they come out and go in when they please. All three are flighted and have the run of my home.
  9. As you all know, I have a beautiful male BF amazon that is almost 4 years old and has been with me for 1 1/4 years. A re-cap is that Louie will not let me touch him at all. No tickles, head scratches, nada. Louie does follow me around my home, he is fully flighted and has never been clipped. However lately Louie has been diving at me and veering off before hitting me. He also comes at me from behind and lands on my back/head. Very unsettling at first. I have, however, learned to hold my ground and not move. Success!!!! Thanksgiving day Louie landed on my lap and just sat there looking at me and tipping his head as if fascinated with my face. I did not try to touch Louie because if I make any moves toward him he will bite or fly off. Biting is his defense and I only try once in a blue moon to touch him to see if he is ready, but so far not yet. Anyhow, I just wanted to share Louie's and my progress, slow but sure wins the race. But this is a L O N G, L O N G race!!!!
  10. I use https://www.orgreenicsale.com/?mid=990859 which I find a very nice alternative to teflon.
  11. Great update of yours and Anton's progress!!! You are so right, time and patience and lots of love are the right recipe for re-homed parrots! Great job!!! I am eager to hear more!
  12. Great to hear from you Samy and what a great update on your little flock! It's always great to hear how the birdies are doing so we are always grateful for any tidbit our grey family has time to share! Glad all in well in your household. Great holidays to you and yours!
  13. Have you tried talking to your grey when he steps up and praising him. My greys love scratches on their head with gentle finger tips.
  14. I remember when people wrote letters instead of e-mails.
  15. That certainly would be an inexpensive grey. I have a TAG which I purchased for $600 3 years ago, but that was in Washington State from a little town breeder. I have a CAG I purchased in August for $750 which to me was a great bargain, the breeder was from the small town of Colton, Oregon. California I believe is a more expensive that Oregon or Washington so I wish you luck finding a young grey for $500.
  16. Both of my greys have been with me since their weaning. I have always interacted with them in their cages so they are comfortable with me in and outside of their quarters. I understand that greys can be cage aggressive. That their cages are their castles more or less. I'm sure others who have cage aggressive greys will pipe here to help you out.
  17. That's wonderful! So when do we get to hear your sweet Caruso, aka Pancho???? hint, hint!!!!
  18. Hi Petiteone, Kudos to you and your hubby for giving Buddy a loving forever home! I look forward to watching Buddy grow into a healthy and happy little guy! Welcome to the Grey family!
  19. Welcome to you Boris and to your grey, Coco! Love your picture and introduction!
  20. Loved your Thanksgiving day rendition Talon!!!! Had a great laugh as I pictured the comic scene! Amazons are wonderful, I wouldn't be without Louie, he complements my greys in a very pleasant way.
  21. Great video of Issac and his blue cup! Loved it!
  22. Hi Marsia, looking for to hearing more about you. Are you a grey owner now or are you looking into becoming a grey parront? Details please!!
  23. Here's wishing Tia good health. My parrots have eat all my plants to pieces, ones I have had for 20/30 years. I hope Tia is alright. Kudos to you for calling your vet so quickly!
  24. Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Sterling Gris, aka BamBam, is his old self again, or I should say young self. And he has forgiven me for his getting "trapped" LOL! He is certainly a gentle giant and I love him dearly.
  25. Hi Dawl! Great introduction and I'm looking forward to seeing your baby grey's pictures!!!!! Welcome to the Grey family!
