  1. Whoa, I have a CAG and TAG which I got from breeders whom I respect for their love and devotion to their greys. Please do not assume that breeders are uncaring as my TAG's breeder and I conversed for over a year after I purchased Ana Grey. She refused to take a deposit until she met and got to know me as her greys were part of her family. She refused to ship her babies so she kept the right to refuse you a grey if she didn't believe you were suited. My CAG's breeder only shipped at a cost which was ridiculously high so new owners were more likely to come pick their greys up. Both of these breeders sent me home with ooddles of grey stuff, food they were eating, toys they liked and lots of instructions for their care.
  2. Hi, your grey is quite handsome. Welcome to the Grey family!
  3. Hello to Lexie!!! Ana Grey is 3 1/4 years old.
  4. That certainly is a cute avatar. My Ana Grey (3) is still a cuddler and does it every day. My Sterling Gris is 8 months old and loves to cuddle also. I hope it never stops.
  5. I'm looking forward to when this thread says "all the birdies are warm and comfy". I don't envy your situation Penny, thank goodness your companions have such a smart and resourceful mommy.
  6. Excellent choice! Welcome to sweet Missy!
  7. I put my parrots in their cages at night. To me better safe than sorry.
  8. Jon is very handsome. Love his sneaker by the way! LOL!
  9. My Ana Grey, TAG, is now 3 years old. When I got her at 4 months old she weighed about 290g and at 3 years old she weighs in at 300g. So she has not really grown more just filled out.
  10. Very, very nice. I want one too!!!!!
  11. I believe it is eye shape that some say will tell you if a grey is male or female. Nobby and Hucker why don't you introduce yourselves in the Welcome Room.
  12. Hi Dan, congrats on your little lady, Coco. Very nice intro. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your new friend. Welcome to the Grey family!
  13. Oh dear Talon, I just hate it when there are no lights and internet!!!! What a bummer!!! If you were closer I would take your birdies in a flash....... and you too of course!!!!!! It's Halloween too!!!! Double bummer!!!! Am sending vibes for the power to come back on. Take care.
  14. Hi rubiamala, congrats on your new baby TAG, my first grey was my sweet Ana Grey and I find TAGs to be very loving greys so enjoy! If you have any pictures, please post them. We love pictures. Can't wait to hear more about your little girl. Hey, what's her name???????
  15. I don't quite understand what is going on with this grey. He belongs to someone and you are just wanting this grey because you think the owner doesn't like him??? If you want this grey to like you, you have to relax and not be afraid of him. Until you are comfortable with him touching you, I would not even attempt to step him up or touch him. He must first trust you and want to come to you. Greys sense our feelings so first you must not be afraid of him for him to be comfortable around you.
  16. How about Sunny for bringing the sunshine back to your days/home.
  17. Many members are working parronts. Greys and other parrots are left alone for the work day. No problems. Just make sure there are toys, foraging toys and food and water in your parrot's cage. Some leave a radio or such on for their birdies. I am home all day long and my parrots joy time away from me, sitting on perches in other rooms and playing and getting into mischief out of sight.
  18. i have read both of these books and they are worth your time and effort. Enjoy!
  19. Hi Wingy, ask a way. There are oodles of threads here about all kinds of grey subjects. I look forward to hearing about your journey to find the grey/quaker for you.
  20. I was happy with my TAG, Ana Grey, until Jay became the first moderator of the Amazon Room, he is amazing with this room and I really miss him, anyhow, he brought the amazon to life for me with stories of his Salsa and the threads he started for the different kinds of zons, there are so many!!!!!! I started looking for a zon for me!!!! It took awhile and finally I found a male Blue Front on the internet. His male owner was ill and the wife and children had more or less abandoned Louie so I was delighted to give him a looksey. We meet in the parking lot of a store mall half way been her home and mine and I purchased Louie who was in a small bird cage made for parakeets. He is beautiful and speaks Hindu. I was told he was "wild" and had not been handled since the husband became too ill to care for him. He was moved to outside and I suppose he was for sale because winter was coming and the wife and older daughter were not prepared to care for him for the winter. Louie is the sweetest guy in the world. My kids all love him and laugh with delight when we are on the telephone with me and they hear Louie jabbering way in a foreign tongue. Louie use to call out the name "Jordan" but has now started, I believe Jordan was the name of the young son I meet at the mall parking lot.
  21. I too have a CAG who is almost 8 months old. And guess what he isn't talking either!!!!! Certainly not unusual and I don't worry about it. Like your grey Sterling Gris is making noises and sounds and watching my closely. I don't worry about whether or not he talks or not, he will if he wants and I just talk to him and encourage him. I certainly never tell him to be quiet or lock him in his cage for making noise. He is a parrot and I love the sounds, noise and squawking that goes with a happy bird. I have three noisy parrots and when they talk so do I. We are a flock and I encourage their chatter. Be patient, your parrot sounds like a lovely grey.
  22. Hi, certainly looking forward to hearing about your new grey when the time comes. There is a wealth of information here at the forum and oodles of Grey family to answer any questions you may have. Welcome to the Grey family!
  23. My Ana Grey is only 300 grams. When I micro-chipped her she weighed 290 g. She has never shown any ill effects and she has never even acted like anything was different for her. Same with the other two, not a sign they are micro-chipped. I, of course, feel I have done all in my power to make it easy for a finder of my parrots to locate me. If anyone finds one of my parrots and takes him/her to a vet for any reason, that vet can easily check to see if the bird is chipped especially if I have contacted them about a lost parrot. Because I have micro-chipped my parrots my friends are registered and if lost I contact the Home Again organization and they will issue an alert about my lost friend with pictures I can provide. I am also contacted by e-mail if a dog/cat or any chipped pet is lost in my area so I can be on the look out. Hopefully I will never have to worry about this with my companions to it is wonderful to know that I have a support system in place.
  24. Great photo. When I went to Australia, years ago, to visit my daughter and new granddaughter I was fascinated when I saw cockatoos flying free all over the place. Priceless. Love the photo it reminds me of how lovely and friendly beautiful Australia is.
