  1. Hi Mike, great intro to you and Rico. Love the pictures. Rico sound like a character. Looking forward to hearing more about your little friend. Welcome to the Grey family!
  2. What a lovely moment Dee! I enjoyed it with you as I read your post. Marvelous! I am happy for you and especially for Gilbert!
  3. Thank you all for your comments. Louie is certainly a sweetheart. He can touch me, I just can't touch him. He is fully flighted and has never been clipped so he has the upper-hand so to speak as he can leave any old time he wants! He enjoys sitting on the back of my couch and preening my hair. As long as I do not try to touch him and just let him preen away, he is happy as a lark. Ray, Louie is only three, I doubt he is hormonal as he is as sweet as molasses just untouchable. He has many times taken my finger into his beak with a "no, no, no touchy" attitude but never bitten down.
  4. Great pictures. Slater is beautiful and the weather gorgeous! Like your setup here.
  5. What great pictures of Chili and your grey outside. Chili is absolutely beautiful, I love the colors when zons' spread their wings, amazing! I like the little setup you have for keeping your fids contained. What is the netting called, if I may ask?
  6. Hi Sara, Kudos to you for wanting to learn about greys instead of stepping right in. Greys are unique and quite different than other parrots. So you have come to the right place if you're looking for people who are obsessed with their greys. So ask away and read, read, read the many threads already here about all kinds of grey questions. Welcome to the Grey family!
  7. Sunlight is good for our parrots. I believe there are some sticky posts in this Health Room about sunlight and indoor lamps to help our birdies maintain Vitamin D especially in the cold. I understand hemp seed is also good for plucking. Check it out on the internet.
  8. Have you tried turning on music your parrot. My flock loves music especially if it has a drumbeat.
  9. So how do you get an amazon to sleep at night if you can't touch him? I have had Louie for over a year now and I still have never given him even a tickle. So how do I get him to go to sleep in his cage at night. Or get him into a cage at anytime. Well, just watch the video-- Louie and I are close, he follows me around all day but I can't touch him. Strange but true.
  10. Very nice video, loved the interaction between the two of them!
  11. Have you tried distracting her. Talking to her or singing to her to give her something else to mimic or think about?
  12. Tindo is a lovely grey. I wish you many years of great fun with him.
  13. Congrats on your little girl! Love the picture!
  14. I remember riding the train to go to San Francisco. What fun.
  15. All my parrots love unsalted unshelled pistachios best. I love them for my birdies because they are low in fat. I little cheddar cheese and pecan nuts are also a winner for my babies. As for veggies they love. I give them whole snap peas and they are in heaven.
  16. Great news Karen. This is wonderful and brought a big smile to my face!
  17. I wonder who is having more fun????? LOL!!! Very sweet video.
  18. What a lovely grey Luna is. I look forward to hearing how she adapts to her new home. It's been a long wait. Now the fun begins. Enjoy!!!!
  19. Great photos of you and your two parrots. Looking forward to hearing more about Tia and Joker! Welcome to the Grey family!
  20. Mike where are you, what state and city are you in so that we can help if we are near. We have members all over the world so please post where you are located. I am the State of Washington right on the border between Washington and Oregon.
  21. This is great news. Congrats!!!!!
  22. You were nicer to this lady than I would have been. I would have given this woman what for, for even touching my grey and told her where she could get off!!! If you are happy with Gracie's attitude then why would you let some lady off the streets attitude bother you. My greys are both independent, shoot all my parrots are independent and can entertain themselves. I do not like clinging birds if I wanted a clinging velcro bird I would have gotten a cockatoo. My greys come for their cuddles and enjoy my company but they can all play alone and enjoy themselves without me. Let her enjoy her playmates so that she will be able to enjoy other parrots when she sees some later in her life. Pooh pooh to this old know it all. Be happy that you have found a grey you love and enjoy!
  23. I am a member of HomeAgain's lost pet patrol. If there are any pets lost in my area, 25 miles I am alerted through the internet. These are micro-chipped pets. If a pet is micro-chipped it is considered theft if you don't make an effort to find the owner and you can be prosecuted. All vets if equipped will check for a microchip free.
  24. I have worked on a Model T and ridden in them and several other antique cars. What fun!
