  1. Great and adorable pictures! Thanks for sharing them!!!
  2. Neither of my greys was permanently banded when I got them. My Amazon has a band that gives him no problems so remains. My three are micro-chipped. They are registered with HomeAgain and if they are lost, HomeAgain will send out e-mails to all members in the area who are registered to be noticed of lost birds/dogs/cats, etc. I am on the list to be notified to help locate lost pets in my area. HomeAgain will also provide me with a Lost Poster with my birdie's picture and information on it. In my opinion, having the bands removed and stored does not prove anything. Those bands could belong to any grey that they were removed from and not the grey found by someone. My dog is also micro-chipped. She was lost and returned to me when my vet's office called to say they had her. Vet's will check for free.
  3. Always enjoy seeing Emma. She is a very talkative and smart little lady. Always entertaining.
  4. Thanks everyone. Louie is worth waiting for. He is a joy to have around. I have never seen such an active and busy bird. To be honest, if I had to choose I would not be able to choose only one of my babies. Zons and Greys so different and so wonderful in their own ways!!
  5. Great idea, love the name Safe Harbor or Safe Haven Room.
  6. The answer is yes Gwen. The greys are very lovey to me and come to me all the time. They come when I call and Ana Grey and Louie both say "come here" like I do for them to come to me. So Louie knows what to do and what I will do when they come to me. He is a very observant guy and follows me and watches me all the time.
  7. Very funny guys, I was answering Talon's post about her parrots: ("I have tried the newspaper thing, but when my birds. Decide to fly off, their wings make such a breeze, the newspapers going flying all over the place!!!! Tell me your secret......") Mine fly everywhere with gusto!!!!
  8. Not to worry, I have three parrots and find flight feathers/large feathers all the time. I just save them all. Someday I hope to figure out what to do with them. They are beautiful! Some days its like a busted pillow in the bird room there are down feathers galore floating everywhere!!! LOL! I spray with Aloe Vera juice and water to help with any dry skin.
  9. My parrots are very windy when they fly so I have weights on the corners to keep the newspaper in place. It's not ideal but I want my babies to be able to fly and I can just throw the paper away. kins2321@yahoo.com not to worry, Dave007 and I are friends. Well, we were last time I pm'd him anyway!!!!! LOL!!!!
  10. As you all know Louie is in charge of his and my bonding. He can touch me, I can't touch him. So today, December 16th Louie has decided that he wants to one of the shoulder/arm parrots. So here is Louie asserting his power: of course, he still has to get his nibbles in!!! What's a girl to do but given in!!! LOL!!!
  11. Listen you old Buzzard, do you really want to get on my poo poo list?????? Now you be nice Dr. Flock!!! You are so lucky I promised Santa Claus I would be nice to you!!!!! LOL!!!! You of course will probably get a lump of coal!!!! LOL!!!!
  12. I have newspaper under the swings and things for my parrots. I have hardwood floors throughout my home that I put in before I got my first parrot. I knew I wanted them to fly!! I live alone so this works very nicely for me.
  13. I am officially closing this thread. This forum is for sharing information and knowledge about our greys/parrots. That is not happening here. So take a breath and cool off.
  14. I purchased a new toy for the Birdies and they all love it!! And yes unfortunately, they do not play well together....
  15. Very true what Dave and Talon have posted. I am not a big fan of socializing my parrots with anyone other than family and very close friends. I do not bring out the parrots when casual visitors are over. I do not "present" my parrots to anyone. If they are interested in a family member my parrots do the initiation, not my family. I do not encourage interaction. My parrots usually sit on their perches in the room or go to their room, it is up to them who gets to "play" with them. Parrots are intuitive, they know who is parrot friendly and who is not, I let them do the socializing not the other way around.
  16. Hello Marco, he sounds like a happy little guy. Pooh, pooh on the plucking. Don't worry about that he is much too young. If you want to make sure he does not pluck, just be a good parront, lots of interaction with you and family, lots of good food and talk to him about what is happening. Watch his body language and his eyes they tell it all. So just enjoy him and everyone will be happy!
  17. Jasper is very handsome Stevie! Love our zons, and oh yes, my zon will eat anything so different from a grey!
  18. Geesh my CAG ate formula until he was 5 months old. I would try a little formula if you have any and if not a little creamy cooked oatmeal on a spoon to help with the transition.
  19. Welcome home Gracie!!! Can't wait to hear more and see some pictures of Gracie and her homecoming!
  20. Priceless teaching moment!! You have a brand new open slate here and a willing student. I can't wait to hear more!!
  21. I believe it is probably molting too. My two greys are dropping downy feathers like crazy right now. I could supply the down for some pillows if anyone is interested!!!!! LOL!!!
  22. Nice intro MonkeyBird, and welcome to the grey family! Would love to see some pictures of Marco and of your Great Dane if you will. Years ago I raised a couple of puppy Danes. They are such wonderful dogs. Looking forward to yours and Marco's updates!
  23. I will be honest, this is an "accidental" shot. I was trying to get a picture of Louie playing on the new oval ring I got the flock and he took off! So thank you all for your wonderful comments. I am so proud of my big green guy, it is a true joy to have him in my home and I can only thank Talon for starting the Amazon Room and Jayd for being such a great moderator with a boatload of information about amazons to go with it. They were my inspiration to get a zon and I am grateful for it!!!!
  24. As you know, Louie has been showing much more interest in becoming my Buddy. He flies to my shoulder or on to the back of the couch to preen my hair. Not too gentle on the hair preening but he is making a effort to be nice. I just had to share this beautiful in flight picture of Louie leaving their new toy: Priceless!
