1. Its so nice to have you back Sameera.Your little budgie is playing. My tiel does this all the time. They are goofey little things at times.Thats why we love them so much.Looking forwars to hearing the name you choose for your new feathered clown.
2. I am lucky enough not to need glasses but If I have sun glasses on Charlie is fine.
3. I would never recomend taking a bird who is not weaned. No matter what a breader tells you, it is a very complex, dificult job.I would not purchase a grey from someone who is willing to let them go before weaning is complete.
4. That is good news.I was wondering how things went.Sabian sounds a lot better.
5. I too love cats. My brothers children have two British Blues. They are adorable.I had a rescue cat a long while ago called Timmy,he was great,he put every dog in the neighbourhood in its place.
6. Please think long and hard before getting a grey.Greys are not an easy pet to keep and need a lot of care and attention Please read through various threds in this forum and you will soon become aware of some of the problems you may come up against.I am not trying to put you off just dont wish you to regret your decision. Please do a lot of research, talk to vets and breeders so you have a better understanding of the comitment you are entering into.

Ear Wax

I am so glad your grey is now being treated. Please let us know how she gets on.I am very interested in hearing about the vets recomendation for plucking.
8. ok I am 45. Way too old now.Think I will count backwards from now on.
9. He is now trying to see how much he can get away with. This often happens when greys are in a new home for a few weeks.Be firm but kind to him and insist on step up,try asking him to step on to a perch if you are worried about being bitten. If he goes to bite wobble your hand very gentley, just enough to unbalance him a bit so he is distracted from biting and say no bites .He may be deciding who is his prefered human, that is natural behaviour in greys.
10. I doubt very much if cat or dog forums have such fun discussing their pets more basic habbits.
11. Oh I know what you mean.If Charlie is quiet it means trouble. I feel a bit better now knowing other greys are just as bad as Charlie.I think he has got a lot more distructive as he gets older,he is six now.I tried the blanket on the couch trick and the little monster just chews through the blanket till he gets to the leather. He is out in the aviery at the moment so he cant do too much damage out there,I HOPE.
12. I think between them my two have done it almost everywhere.I have stood in it, sat in it,picked things up with it on,its never ending.I think the worst was when I had just been the hairdressers ready for a night out,yes you guessed it.The lap top has had its fair share,I keep the computer wipes handy just in case.I wish I had shares in a kitchen roll company.
13. Yes go on Julie, that would be great.
14. Yes I cant count the things that have been pooped on.Its early days for you yet so just you wait till Beau starts earning an asbo.
15. Oh so cute.Congratulations on finally getting Murphy home. How has he settled in?
16. Darwin is really growing up.I love those photos.Keep the updates coming.

What time?

Charlie has started banging his toys round and playing his juke box which has singing in the rain on at around 6am.He never usually makes a sound till I get up.Mind you I usually wake him up at 5am when I get up for work so maybe its because I am off work he is getting his own back. Caroline Try a heavy dark cover over Charlies cage eg a blanket and see if that helps.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/05/11 22:24
18. Thanks for reminding me Caroline about the mobile phone and door frames,oh and wood picture frame, that ended up like match sticks.
19. Yes it was custom built.Blue is my cousins grey who I bird sit,Charlie is my grey and Cracker is my tiel.I would love to see how blue would react to the aviery but as he is a very old man,40+ I wont take the chance. My birds love it though.I got a cargo net the other week for the aviery but Charlie is petrified of it so I had to take it down.I have vines and logs in it and rope swing.I like the look of yours.Your grey is going to be so spoilt.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/05/11 22:05
20. I do try that Judy, honest. He is so fast.I am thinking of getting him an asbo. For those in the us thats an anti social behavior order which is given to unruley teens by the courts.
21. Ok we all know greys chew but Charlie is so distructive.Today he chewed up the lap top charger which cost me £50 to replace. I have lost count of the sky plus remotes he has killed at £25 a time,My leather setee is in tatters as well as my nerves and bank ballance. I have also taken down the curtains and only have blinds because he used them as a swing.IS HE THE FORUMS MOST DISTRUCTIVE GREY. I am sure you will all chip in with your own stories of vandalism.

Yes, please get that ear checked out asap and let us know what happens.
23. Annmarie, I have an outside aviery for my birds and it is the best thing I ever did.Mine love it and I love the time I get the house back to clean up or get jobs done.Have a look on my profile page.It is a similar size to the one you are getting.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/05/11 20:54
24. It is so special when those first words are spoken and how exciting you managed to record them.
25. What you discribe sounds very much like a seizure.I have seen my old tiel have seizures much like you discribe. There are verious reasons for seizures in birds, ranging fron calcium deficiancey to in my old birds case kidney failure, only your vet can say. Please let us all know the outcome.
