1. I love the video Julie. Lets hope your two get on as well. I am sure it will work out. I keep showing Charlie re runs of how clean is your house, hoping he picks up some cleaning techniques,so far he just says "who made that mess". oh well we live in hope.
2. Such a great photo.I still havent worked out how to post any yet.Better get my act together.
3. I cant offer advise on where to perchase your grey, but I can advise you to do a lot of reserch on greys before you take the plunge. You are looking for a very special bird indeed if expected to do all you want.Greys can be very nervey birds and most dont take kindly to change. It would have to be a very well socialised bird and one who tolerates some sort of harness,a lot dont.I am sure people on this forum do have greys who partisipate in the activities you describe but my own grey would have non of it. I am sure he is more typical of the grey species than most. Sheila

companion

As you have already been told, greys can be very hard to socialise with each other as well as other species..although this is not always the case it is the most likely. It is very interesting that our companion birds, even though many are hand reared still remain true to their wild instincts.
5. Kiko looks the picture of health.Well done for taking it at her pace. You have 2 cute ladies.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/11/02 21:19
6. Tanner Logan is beautiful. He does have a mischievious look about him.
7. Love the new cage.I have not long got charlie a new cage and I had to put him right in it because I had no room to place the cages side by side. I felt sly but he adapted very well.It looks like Rikki is right at home already. I can see Talon having a new cage before long.
8. Chloe is enjoying her self. She is gorgious.
9. I love the photos. Bet that lamp wont last long.
10. Hi Malissa and Charlie.I am sure you will find this forum so helpful and friendly. Keep us all up to date on how you and Charlie get on
11. Bet you got lot of brownie points for that pressie. Lucky wife
12. I would love to join in but I dont think I can stay uo that late. It will be about 1am hear if My time scale is right.
13. Hi Judy. Yes Cracker was a pain in the neck but I loved him anyway. I think the fact he was hand reared made him a bit too sure of himself.I will no doubt let him become fully flighted again for summer when I can let him have his exercise in the aviery of a day.For now though I am just enjoying the chance to let my hands heal from the bites. Boy those little beaks hurt.
14. I wish I could go to one of the workshops.I would love it. Barbara Heindrich is one of the best around. If you can go dont miss out. Anyone know if she is comiing anywhere near Liverpool uk.
15. Good luck Jason. It would be nice to find out about Ernies brood mates.
16. I dont think Harrisons will be cheap anywhere. They are in my oppinion the best though. I get mine from www.24parros .com. I may look at harrisons web site to compare prices.I dont think may pet shops sell them as you need a franchise from harrisons. Some vets have them, mine does but they are the same price as I get them.
17. I am so excited for you. I know you have been waiting for this day to come. Let us all know how it goes.
18. A month a go I made the hard decision to get cracker my tiel clipped. He was far to interested in the grey and I could not risk a disaster. Well it has turned out a better decision than I had hoped for. My vet who is not a fan of clipping had no reservations when I explained the reason why. He clipped him being sure he could still fly a bit. He can actually fly quite well but I now have a lot more controle of him and hear is the icing on the cake, his nasty disposition has changed. He has transformed from a little terror into a very sweet loving little cockatiel. He has made himself a little comfy spot on the mantle piece by the clock where he likes to hang out. He can fly over to me for head scritches and his biting is much reduced. I am now glad I had him clipped, I was not really happy having to do it but it really has worked out for the best all round. Cracker is happier because he has a lot more out of cage time and I am not a nervous wreck.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/11/02 11:29

20. Gizmo has obviousely been loved and cared for before. It is wonderful that he is experiencing that again. He is blooming under your care Pat.
21. Yes he is calling to you.As others have advised call back softly to him. This is reasuring and if you develope a contact call it can help eliminate screaming. Charlie shouts where are you and hurry up, when I leave the room.He also does the phone or microwave both sounds he associates with me returning. These greys are super smart.
