1. You are right Jim. It is not just related to diet.
2. Congratulations Dan. It is well deserved. Thanks for the time you put in for us all. It is appreciated.
3. My Charlie is always quiet of a night. Greys are one of the quieter parrots. There are always exceptions though.

She may be a little older, I would not worry about it though. Did you get hatch certificate with her.

I cant really tell from photos, but are her eyes all black or do they have lighter rimms round the iris. What makes you doubt her age.

My Charlie is doing the same. Its past his bed time
7. Charlie often drops his left wing. I Know that is due to an accident earlier in the year when he almost broke his wing . He can fly fine and does not seem in any discomfort. He just does it every so often. I am not sure if by drooping his flights you mean he is lowering his wings. This can be a sign of calcium deficiancy but as I know Tico is on a good diet I find this unlikely.Keep an eye on him and if you notice any other change have him checked out.
8. Hi everyone. Its 10.45pm and I got in from work about 9.30.Its been ok weather wise here.We dont see much snow.Just rain. I am just enjoying a glass of wine and relaxing. The birds are settled for the night.

11. Hello and welcome Donna to you and Coco.He seems like a fantastic friend.
12. Hi. If you can run your heating for a bit before it gets too cold you may be able to get George out side while you do so. this will burn off any fumes while they are out. I am in the uk and have an aviery where my birds can go on fine days but I consider it too cold right now. It is about 48degrees.
13. I am so sorry Pippin is having such a bad time. Are the flights growing at all? I always advise going to a vet for wing trims for this very reason.Maybe a vet visit could help determin how bad the problem is and an avian vet may suggest a solution.I know some are available, one is called imping. This is a method where donated feathers are attached to the birds own feathers enabeling flight.I do not know a lot about this but I do know it very affective.Sorry ,I am not sure if it is suitable but a vet can advise on that and cost. As Kitty said keep movements slow and offer treats by hand in the hope of regaining some trust. This is a problem that is all to common place.
14. Well I have monday blues, I am on a late shift so in work 2-9.30pm. Just been shopping early and cleaned cages and had lunch before I leave for work. Charlie has got into the habit of sitting by me while I am on the lap top so thats quite nice.Weather is horrible, wet and cold.

DYH Amazon

Hi Erica. I dont have personal experiance of amazons but what Pat is sayins appears to be spot on from what I know. They are more active than greys and very playful and clownish. They can be noisey when they want , cant they all. Interesting point about the smell they give off when hormonal, I had not heared of that till now. They do appear to maintain their playful personality.Oh and I have read they are prone to obesity.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/11/17 12:39

Beak grinding is a sign of contentment. They usually do this when ready for a sleep.

Molly

Hello Wendy. First off, Molly only came home yesterday and is still very nervious in her new home.Greys are easy upset by change. You say she will take treats from your hand, this is fantastic, such a good start. For now I would just talk to her and give her treats, she will then become more confident of you and her new home. You can then progress a little further. If you have not already, introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about Molly. Was she hand reared, are you a first time bird owner. Really the best advise I can give is to take your time and let Molly settle. Read through some threads in the nursery room and learn all you can. I hope to hear more about you and Molly. Everyone hear are so willing to offer help and advise. I am sure you will progress without too much trouble before long. Good luck. Sheila
