1. Adaya is coming on great. you are doing a good job.

7ft fall

Koko may have given herself a bit of a fright. The likelehood is that she is fine. Please keep a very close watch on her and if you have any doubts at all see a vet.
3. Charlie loves pomegranite. I can get the tubs of seed and they are not quite as messy. Chain saw massacre comes to mind.
4. I am proud of you. you want to give your grey the best. I use Northern Parrots and they are fantastic. I would recomend harissons pellets but this is a personal thing. Natural perches are the best . Read all you can on the care of greys and just take things slow with the training. I recomend a vet visit to ensure all is well with your new friend and so you have a vet contact for any future problems.
5. I want them all. Too cute. Which one is Cherry, ill leave her for you.
6. Oh Pat. What can I say. Gizmo thinks all his christmas have come at the same time. He is one happy bird. My vet phoned me the other month and asked if I would take another grey that had been left at the surgery, I had to say no because I felt I did not have the room or money to care for it and did not want my two to miss out on anything. Reading your posts I wonder did I do the right thing. Post edited by: she, at: 2008/11/09 00:44

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/11/09 00:51
7. Marie I remember those days so well, when chalie first came to me. He was 7 months old. He is now 5. I was so scared of letting him down. I can still remember the first time he spoke. I was sitting on the floor, playing with him.He looked right at me,climed on my knee and out came as clear as day, "Hello there"I am not ashamed to say I had tears in my eyes that day. You are doing a great job with George He sounds fantastic.

I second that Dan. I imediately thought of metal poisoning as my own tiel had it last year. A top vet may be able to help. God I hope so.

I have a henry vacume and every time I use it Charlie shouts Heres Henry . I used to allert him I was putting it on by shouting heres Henry and it has stuck.
10. I wish you luck in being reunited with Piff. Try local papers and radio stations in the area he was lost. Also contact vets in that area.I find if people find a bird it is usually a vet who they contact.Vets are easy to contact and most people have pets themselves so know of a vet.
11. You are concidering the needs of a grey before you get one. In my eyes this makes you responsible people. I work shifts full time and have a grey and cockatiel. Both do well providing I give them lots of time out of the cages and atention. Yes I feel guilt sometimes, and I admit I do turn down extra hours at work so I can be with them but they are fine and I ensure I leave them plenty of toys and treats ,and a radio on ,and I time a light to come on for them if I am on a Late shift. It can work. The main thing is care and attention and lots of love when you are home.
12. Charlie loves the little cubed mixed frozen veg and corn on the cob. He also likes broccoli, carrots in any form Cracker likes broccoli, sweeet corn, cabbage raw but wont eat most other veg.
13. Baby greys are clumsy. You will do the right thing by lowering her perches and placing a towel on the base to cushion any falls and making food easy available for her.As she gets a bit older she will gain in confidence and you can raise the perch. sheila
14. Yes it is a feeding response. My grey is 5 years old and I was shocked when he started doing this the other day. It is best to ignore providing the bird is fully weaned

Wow a bird who gets the men to vacume, think most women need one of those.Seriously He is doing great with you,he must be so happy. Sheila
18. They decide where to sleep. Charlie sleeps on the top perch and cracker sleeps either on the top perch or under his news paper on the bottom of the cage. She was as Judy pointed out most likely feeling a bit strange and will choose her sleeping place as she settles. I to would be interested in knowing what her bed is.

Erica what a great thing you have done for this beautiful bird. He is adorable. How anyone can have such a bird and not take the time to even keep his cage clean is beyond my comprehention. You and your husband will be rewarded ten fold by the love and fun you recieve from Mojo. Take care and keep us posted.
20. You bird is actually being very clever. She knows just how to get your attention , think about it. The first time she made that noise she got your attention,Ok she thinks Lets try that again. It worked. Now, it does not matter to her what that attention is, you shouting, putting her in the cage, its all attention to her.You have unwittingley re enforsed this unwanted behaviour. It will now take time and patiance to stop it. You must ignore that noise at all cost. It would be a good idea to leave the room without looking or talking to her every time she repeats this noise. She will then associate it with the action of you leaving.Thats the last thing she wants so she does not make the noisr. At the same time you must give her loads of attention when she is not making this noise and ensure she has plenty to keep her amused. It will not happen over night. The time span will depend on how long it has been going on and how good you are at being consistant and determined. You must be sure to leave every time the noise is repeated. You only need leave till she stops the noise and return when she is good,Keep at it
21. Poor bird.If you wish to take it on, you are just going to have to talk to the owner and ask if he will part with it. It does sound as if the grey is scared . If you cant aquire the bird see how receptive the owner is to advise, other than that the authorities may intervene, They will probabley only get involved if the bird is not being fed, watered, cleaned or in poor health and not getting vet attention. Good luck but try to do something to help.
22. It could be that he does not like bright sunshine or more possible something he has seen outside spooked him. Armarni sun glasses are prefered by greys rather than christian dior Dave, thought you would know that.
23. They go where they want to go Pat.I have the same problem with Charlie. The only thing that works for me is keeping him busy.I give him an old paper back book to rip up. That keeps him put for a while.Fergie is just so curious who the new guy is.
24. I just love canaries.I always remember my grandma had one called Dixie and he sang like an angel.
25. welcome Imraan and Buddy. I am sure we would all love to hear more about Buddy. Post some photos if you can.I am sure you have many stories to tell.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/11/06 12:25
