  1.   Thanks for the laugh. I needed it today.
  2. Trust me. There will come a day when you wont't be able to shut him up. Yak yak yak yak all day long. Not to mention all the dog barks, smoke alarm beeps, whistles and other noises that will make you want to cover your ears. Just kidding. I enjoy it all! so will you. Whisper is a great talker and one thing I do that I think helps is whenever she says something I repeat it back. She will keep it going just to hear me perform for her.

  4. He is a stunner. You will bring him around in no time at all.
  5. Tycos_mom wrote: Yes you will! but I warn you, it is a big toy..$12-$14 that this big green ball comes on. I have 2 of them. Sure am glad I did not need six.
  6. I think they did come down on you a little hard. I think they interpreted your post like you were clipping only for aesthetic reasons which I am sure is not the case. Sometimes on a board like this it is hard to go into all the things that are said at the vets office and we can be misunderstood. Sometimes we can even misinterpret what the vet explains My bird is clipped also and will remain clipped for safety reasons.<br><br>Post edited by: Char, at: 2009/08/03 05:06
  7. As promised I posted Whisper's favorite foraging toy here. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/homemade-toys-&-playstands/151567-a-favorite-foraging-toy.htmlhttp:// I will get around to some more in a few days. My new birdie is coming home tomorrow night so I am getting ready and will be busy the next few days but soon I promise.<br><br>Post edited by: Char, at: 2009/08/03 02:54
  8. The Zupreem pellets work good. Because they are small and I can put 3 0r 4 in there. I mix it up and put a few almonds in too. Also a few pieces of dried corn might go in one or a Harrison's Power Treat. These ball are bigger than the regular white ones you see everywhere so have bigger holes in them. They last forever. She chews the white ones up but not these. It is also important to make the wrapped treat kind of bullet shaped so they can pull them out. She has to really work at it but she gets them out and eats the treat. I will put about 8 in the ball every morning before I leave for work and when I return she has gotten them all out. 9. And then I stuff them into the ball like this. She is able to work the treats out and eat them. It keeps her busy for hours and she loves it!<br><br>Post edited by: Char, at: 2009/08/03 02:35
  10. I use cupcake paper to wrap small treats in like this.
  11. I want to share Whisper's favorite foraging toy PetSmart sells a large parrot toy that has this green ball on it. It is larger than the regular wiffle balls.
  12. I just gave you Karma for taking the advice so gracefully. It is the one with the long strings that I am worried about. I sometimes buy large parrot toys and then use the parts and rope from it to make several smaller ones. The heavy rope on some of the larger toys is good. Later on today when I am finished cleaning I will take a pic with instructions for making Whisper's FAVORITE foraging toy. Guaranteed you bird will love it!
  13. What a cute story. Thanks for sharing and giving me a giggle.
  14. Oh my gosh. How Awful! Be sure to post on as many internet sites as possible. Google lost bird. Here is a good place to start. http://www.birdhotline.com/http:// My thoughts and prayers are with you and your baby.<br><br>Post edited by: Char, at: 2009/08/02 15:41
  15. that is really cute but I see too may loose holes and threads that a foot could get tangled in. I would only use that toy when you are supervising him. I make a lot of toys too but I am always looking at it and asking myself. "Is that string long enough that he could get tangled in it? Are the knots loose enough that a foot could get tangled in it?" You have to be really careful with both the toys you buy and the toys you make. Also be careful about letting the cat play with the same toys because bacteria from the cats mouth could make your bird sick.<br><br>Post edited by: Char, at: 2009/08/02 00:18
  16. I am so happy for you. Relax you will do fine.
  17. How awful! I hope they catch the creep. I am worried about what happened to the third baby.
  18. Whisper started saying it about 3 months ago and now she says it over, and over, and over, and over, and over and over. I love my mommie. Well you get the point.
  19. There must be something in the air because Whisper has been acting out the last couple of days too. I blame hers on the fact that she is getting close to the dreaded "terrible twos".
  20. That is so scary. Glad Indy is okay. My vet recommends rawhide for hanging toys because of the danger of metal poisoning. I have not gone to that completely because Whisper's favorite thing is to untie knots so they don't stay very long. You could also use a wrench to tighten the hooks so he can't get them loose.
  21. I wish I could have seen that.
  22. Char

    Meet Java

Congrats on the babies. Simba sounds like a lot of fun to have around.
  23. I am excited for you. I would not worry about the flight. I am sure he will be fine.
  24. Oh Pat that is awful. I have said it before and I will say it again.. people ought to have to take a test, attend classes and have a license to own a parrot.
