Great toy Toni! That was a good deal you got on all the pieces. That is really nice to donate some toys to the bird club.

Karen, I can really sympathise with you at the loss of feathers. My eldest grey Charlie has been missing his flights for about 9 months now. He lost his flights in an earthquake. Every time he grows some back due to the loss of primary coverts as well he will have a crash landing and knock the new flights out. When this first happened, Charlie's relationship with me changed also, he seemed to blame me for the loss of flying and we have gone through a tough 9 months but I am pleased to say we have got an even stronger bond back as he depends on me to carry him all over as well. It can be so frustrating, I know how you feel I am still feeling it now and you feel so helpless as there is nothing you can do to speed up the progress. Dan has offered some wonderful advice there is nothing more I can really add! I too would let the new relationship develop, I dont think I would add another member to the flock just yet. I wish you all the very best, please keep us updated on Pippins progress. Caroline.

Hi everyone, Its a cold Sunday today! Got up this morning and we had a sprinkling of snow! Not much, just enough to cover everywhere but the sun is shining now so hopefully there wont be anymore. Im going to start scrubbing all the cages out next and finally got my cargo net delivered yesterday, so I need to find a new place for this and see what the boys think. I hope they like it;) Have a great day everyone, I look forward to hearing what everyone has been up to over the weekend. Caroline:)

That is a really good idea! Between my three we have lots of half destroyed toys and they cost me a fortune each month to replace! Will have to start doing this and will be interesting as well to make new toys. Thanks for the idea Carolyn:)

Heaven! Its so cold tonight supposed to get to around -4 which probably wont be cold to many members but I hate cold weather Im a big softie! http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73409-handfeeding-a-baby-grey.html Hi eckylover, How long have your baby grey? What has he been eating? Is he eating any pellets? Above is a guide to feeding a baby grey, this should give you some guidelines to feeding your 12 week old baby. Remember though, this is just a guide and babies will wean at different ages. Make sure you continue to offer the pellets, you can moisten these if your grey wont accept them dry, this is what I had to do with one of mine and he took a few weeks before he accepted them in his diet. Also continue to offer the veggies and fruit. Have you tried to spoonfeed some soft warm foods like mashed sweet potato? I will find some links on offering new foods to your baby, good luck and keep us all posted with his progress. Caroline.

Yes Sheila, I agree about the Rabbit as well! It must have been difficult and very strange for the lady as the Cag spoke in her husbands voice. I just couldnt imagine what that would be like! Our birds are very dependent on us all! Caroline.

Penny, I hope the migraine is better today! I know just how you feel as I suffer with them all the time! Well its pretty cold here today and they have forecast a big drop in temperature and snow for the weekend! Brrrrrrr!!!! Thats me going shopping later and not moving out the house for the weekend! Thermals to the ready! Took my daughter shopping last night, why do teenage daughters cost so much? And why do they always twist you round their little finger and get their own way! Nothing exciting this afternoon, get the kids from school and go food shopping then its either go to a friends for a few drinks or stay in with a nice glass of wine:) Have a good Friday everyone. Caroline.

Did any members watch the Cutting Edge TV programme last night on channel 4? It was called special needs pets and focused on lots of different pets, some with physical disabilities others which had emotional problems. It featured 2 Cags whos Male owner had died 8 months ago, one of them was okay but the second one took it really badly. The Gentlemans wife had kept both the greys and was doing an excellent job at looking after them, their house was totally a bird house you could tell the man had dearly loved his greys. The second Cag had plucked everywhere except his wings and kept doing repetative movements with his head. He was diagnosed as being depressed it was so sad. The vet had to put him on a course of prozac which was reduced over time and recommended that the wife do things with the grey to stimulate him extra play and one on one time. Before the end of the show there was a definate improvement. She used to have to take the grey around the house every day to show him the husband was no longer there as he used to look for him! It was very moving and shows how bonded these birds can be with their owner. Just thought I would share this story, I hope it has a happy ending. Caroline.

Welcome to the Forum Tracie and congratulations on your new baby grey! Dave has given excellent advice! If anyone can help, Dave is the Man! Make sure you check out the Nursery room in the Forum. This will give you plenty of advice to help you with any questions about your new baby. I see you have bird experience so a lot of this isnt new to you anyway. Cant wait to see some photos and hear some more about you both. Caroline.
