Glad to hear everything is ok. Caroline.

Morning everyone, Just thought I would share a few pictures of what we woke up to this morning. I took the kids to school, two seperate school runs and both schools were closed! It seems every time we have a bit of bad weather over here everthing comes to a standstill! So I have a house full of kids as I offered to help the other mothers who work and the kids are having a great time! They have been out making snowmen but it didnt last long when they got wet through! Hope everyone has a great day! Caroline.

Keep warm Jen, you really do have a busy night ahead of you! We are bracing ourselves for heavy snow, they say it will be here about 5am so will cause havoc in the morning for everyone going to work and school. Hope everyone has a good evening, take care and will catch everyone tomorrow. Caroline:)

I'm gonna buy an African Grey. I have questions.
casper replied to Madness008's topic in The GREY Lounge
Why, what makes you say that? Have other members stories made you feel differently about adopting the grey? Caroline -
All three of my boys having a treat!

Here is a recent photo of me and my little baby Jasper. He has come on in leaps and bounds and is such a cute little thing! He gets on so well with my eldest grey Charlie but Keeko the middle grey still has a few issues with him but this is to be expected as Keeko was my little baby. We managed to sort his diet out after he had been with us for a few weeks, he eats better than my other two and will eat anything that is given to him! This is great as he was sold to me only eating wet seed, he was unable to crack any seeds or nuts and I did worry when I brought him home but time and patience have paid off. Next is the cheeky Keeko! Cant leave him out of anything! This bird has no fear and is the most loving of the three! Constantly wants cuddles and kisses I love him to bits! Just thought I would show you the latest pictures of me and my two youngest, its good to keep updating as they grow up so quickly! Caroline.

My eldest grey Charlie has been growing his flights back since he lost them in February. It seems a catch 22 situation, he will grow so many but because of the lack of protection around the flights, (he also has lost his primary coverts) he has no protection around them. The slightest crash and he has lost them again. It is going to be a lengthy process for Charlie and he has lost it seems his ability and confidence to fly. Until then he gets a free ride off me and lots of special tlc. I do hope Rikkis will come through ok, its a shame they all dont come through at the same time but that is expecting too much, they all grow at different rates. Caroline.

Dave, How did you know I always look upon you as being alluring and sensual? Do I make myself so obvious!

Times are hard for everyone at the moment! You havn't had your birds for long and it would be unfair to get rid of them and pass them on to someone else. Sometimes we go through stages in our life like this but things will get better! Of course you have to spend time with your family at the moment, thats understandable you have got to be there for them. Just make sure the time you spend with your birds is quality time, its not the quantity its what you do with them when you get some free time that counts. Be strong and think positive even if things get worse before they get better! I hope things will get a bit better for you soon, drop in more often and keep us all updated. Caroline.

What beautiful pictures! It was worth the wait to see this new baby. She is adorable:kiss: Karma for sharing with us.

What a wonderful update! Your baby sounds as though she is settling in really well! Your avatar picture is beautiful! I will take a look at the other pictures Janet. Make sure we get regular updates.

How many birds do you have? How old is the one you want to re-home and how long have you had him? Please take time to think what you are doing, sometimes when you have multiple birds it can be a bit overwhelming but there may be ways in which we can help you if you explain the reasons for re-homing. Caroline.

Hello everyone, We are having some awfully cold weather at the moment, above is a picture of my son Brads on our way to school, what you can see is solid ice on the path and road. Driving conditions were terrible today and there were quite a few accidents. We are forecast snow over the next couple of days so I will try and get some nice scenic pictures for you. Hope everyone is having a good day, Ive just got some bits to pick up for Brads christmas play this afternoon, he is doing a 1940's themed play so not sure what outfit I will find for him! Have a great day everyone. Caroline.

He will take a good few weeks to settle in, everything and everyone is new, babies tend to be quite fearless though and if socialized properly in the beginning they adapt really well. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73094-socializing-your-baby-grey.html I let my youngest grey settle in for a couple of weeks before I completely changed his diet. I wanted to make sure he was eating properly as it can be too much to change everything all at once. Do it gradually, you might find he really likes the new foods. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/59809-complete-veggiefruit-list.html Above is a list of safe foods for you to try. Cant wait to see some pictures of this new baby;)

http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/53831-tips-for-getting-your-grey-to-eattry-new-foods.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/training/92640-teach-the-step-up-command.html http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/72855-bringing-home-your-baby-grey.html Just a quick word abot the step up training, find a treat your grey loves, with mine its pine nuts. Use these as I feel the bird should be rewarded, gradually over time your bird will learn to step up on command without a treat. They are quite easy to teach when they are babies. Keep the training sessions short, maybe 10-15 minutes each time. As he gets confident with your hands you can ladder him and get him to step from one hand to the other. Just yell if you need anything else! Good luck. Caroline.

Hiya Snakeye and welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your new baby I cant wait to see him. Firstly, is your baby still clumsy? If so as Pat said, lower all the perches and place a towel on the bottom of the cage, this will just soften any falls he may have. Put additional bowls on the bottom to start off with so he has access to food and water. The perches can gradually be moved up when he gets more stable and learns how to perch better. Let him settle in with his new surroundings before doing anything too drastic with his diet. The pellets you have can be moistened, just soak in warm water for about 10 minutes, make sure they dont go too mushy. I mixed these in with my youngest greys seed as he was only on a seed diet. Keep offering the different fruits and veggies, serve them in different ways, warm, mashed etc. My babies liked to be spoon fed sometimes, you could give something like some warm mashed sweet pototoes, keep trying he will eventually accept these it can sometimes take a while. I am going to find some useful links for you which will help you teach your baby to step up. I will also find some on bringing home your new baby. Any questions you have at all, please ask, there is always someone who can help! Read through the threads in the Nursery room, there is lots of useful information there to help you. But most of all, enjoy your new baby! Caroline.

I have had all mine from being babies so I cant give you personal advice on taking in a Cag over 5 years old, but Pat has told you of her experience with Tyco which has taken her a long time, lots of patience and lots of love to gain her trust. She has an awful lot of experience in re-homing birds which I feel is needed when you take on the huge responsibility of a bird which may have some behaviour issues or "baggage". There is no gaurantee this bird will gain your trust, be playful and allow you full contact. Is it definetly a rehome you want to take on? I am not trying to put you off as I think people who take rehomes are one in a million and we have some great members on here who have done a wonderful job! I would look through the many hreads on the forum and read through peoples blogs, decide on what you are looking for in a grey and weigh up the pros and cons of both rehomes and babies. Its a life time commitment you are about to take on, make sure you do whats right and fair for both you and a grey! Good luck and keep us posted on your decision. Caroline. -
Excuse me Mr Dave! We are the sexiest old duffle bags you will ever get to keep your pumps in! Girls I think we all need to stick together on this one! By the way, the country farm lady weathered look is in this season Dave, are you behind with the times?
-
I have turned into a brunette again, not good when the grey hair starts to grow, but I thought I would go for the mature sophisticated look:whistle: You will have to post a pic Erika of the new you.
-
Dave only has a few highlights Erika, he has never had a full colour! I have had mine done before but in a different room away from the greys. I was also worried about the smell of the dye! All I can say is they are still here:laugh: I wouldnt like to say a definite yes I suppose it depends on the chemicals used in the dye but our resident expert Dave when he takes his jokers head off will probably be able to help! Are you having a complete change of colour?
-
Janet, its so not fair! I think that members of the forum should put in a holiday request form to Talon and no two members should be enjoying themselves at the same time! Only joking you two, I hope you both have a wonderful time:kiss:
-
You kept that one from me Steve! Dont forget my postcard and a bottle of white rum;) I hope you will both have a great time, do you want me to watch baby Alfie for you? Caroline.

Hello everyone, We had the worst freeze ever last night then it tried to snow a little about 6am on top of the ice. Its the worst so far this cold spell. The roads were like an ice rink this morning and the kids thought I was doing wheel spins on purpose and thought it was great! It just shows you Sheila, the bit of distance between us can make all that difference. I hope its not as bad in the morning! So just trying to keep warm today and gonna do a bit more christmas shopping this afternoon. I hope everyone has a great day! Caroline.
