How did work go Sheila? Hope the morning went really quickly for you! Just think of the extra money for christmas! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Still cold here but the snow has gone now and the ice wasnt too bad today. Been christmas shopping again! Everytime I think I have finished something else springs to mind! Enjoy the rest of your day everyone, have a wonderful weekend:) Caroline.

Hiya Larry, You will find Aloe vera juice in most health food stores or pharmacy outlets. I am UK based but I do believe you can buy it in Walmart stores as well. Caroline.

I agree with everyone else. I think you need to make a clean break from your grey if you chose to rehome him. Please keep us updated.

Hiya Mark, How much weight has she lost? What does she weigh? If its not a lot Im sure its nothing to worry about. Has she only just weaned? I only ask as they can lose up to 15% of body weight during the weaning process but I am sure the store gave you good advice on this. You could always buy some gram scales youself and weigh her on a daily basis, do this after she has had her big poop each morning, this would probably be a good idea just to check she is maintaining her weight. How is her diet? What is she eating at the moment? Caroline.

Hiya Snakeye, The only sure way to determine the sex is to DNA test. Some people say then can tell by feather colour, shape of eyes and head etc but this is just a guess. You can buy a kit yourself and do this if you are brave enough. My vet did this by plucking a few feathers from the chest area, the kits are avaliable from avianbiotech. http://www.avianbiotech.com/ I am based in the UK and I think the test cost about £14.00. I got the vet to pluck the feathers so I wasnt the bad guy. It can also be done with a drop of blood as well but I preferred the feather method. Love the photos! Karma to you for sharing:) Caroline.<br><br>Post edited by: casper, at: 2008/12/05 11:29

Hi and welcome to the forum. Eddie sounds wonderful! Cant wait to hear more about you both. Hope you enjoy the forum:)

The photos are fantastic! If you want to show them off to everyone the easiest way is to open a photobucket account, you may have one already, if not here is a link, show that baby off to everyone! http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-photography-room/89533-how-to-post-picturesphoto-tuturial.html Caroline.

I hope you will both feel a lot better soon:)

Thankyou Cindy and Dan. Cindy, I have two cats as well, they are both old girls now at 16 years of age. They spend most of their day sleeping so dont interfere with the greys at all. Saying that, I never let one of them anywhere near the birds as she is a bird hunter and has brought plenty home in the past as well as mice! I love them both as well and hope I will get a good few years with them yet! They are both in good health and very playful for their ages, I will get some pictures of them. Caroline.

Sehar, They can lose 10-15% of body weight whilst going through the weaning stage, Ive seen his weight in your other thread and I dont think you have anything to worry about. When you give him pellets have you fed them moist? Sometimes this has to be done to wean the baby on to the pellets it worked with mine. As far as the fruits and veggies go, keep trying, serve the foods in different ways, see which he prefers. You can also spoonfeed and handfeed this sometimes helps the transition on to solid foods. I will include a link to introducing new foods which may help. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/53831-tips-for-getting-your-grey-to-eattry-new-foods.html Drop by and post in this thread when you can. I will help you all I can but you sound like you are doing a wonderful job already. Good luck. Caroline.

Hiya Glenn, I am so pleased to hear that Tizzy has settled in really well. They are tough and it is something you will get used to. My eldest grey is the worst culprit! He will hang by one talon swinging whilst holding something in his beak! Try not to worry too much its their natural behaviour, they love fooling around and keeping you on your toes! Try and get some pictures for us when Tizzy is playing, I would love to see some. Great to hear from you. Caroline.

OOOoh painful! Is this a bird you have been to see to add to your flock? Or does it belong to someone you know? I think I will stick with the greys! I can cope with a grey bite! Glad you are ok. Caroline.
-
I am so sorry Michele. I can feel the sadness in your post! Never give up, there is always a chance he could be looked after somewhere. I too will pray for his return! Caroline.

Hiya onetteselfish, Welcome to the forum. So you have two greys, thats wonderful! i have three and my youngest is just a bit older than Maya. So the greys are fine in the same room together in their cages. Do you have to let them out in another room to where the cages are kept? Are they both let out at the same time? What is it that frightens Pappy do you know? Is it when maya gets near him? Caroline.

Hiya Mark, Glad to here that baby Lola os settling in okay with you. Its still early days for learning to step up but I found it easier the younger they are. Have you discovered her favourite treat yet? When it comes to training make sure you have something to reward her with. Have you posted photos yet? Cant wait to see her! Caroline.

Hi sehar and welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your baby grey! I am going to provide a link on handfeeding for you which will give you a guide to the amounts you should be feeding at 4 months. Two feeds a day sounds fine but I am just wondering if you should be feeding more formula especially if you baby is asking for more, but there again you are only going on your vets advice and I wouldnt want to over rule this. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73409-handfeeding-a-baby-grey.html Does your vet feel that your Tag is underweight because he isnt weaned properly? What is he eating? Does he eat any pellets, veggies, fruits? Weigh your grey at the same time every morning. Do this after he has had his morning poop and keep a daily record, this should show you if he is gaining any weight or not. I cant give you personal advice on clicker training as Ive not used it with my greys but I will try and find some links for you. Hope yo enjoy the forum, take a look around the different rooms I am sure you will find them all useful. Caroline.
