Even though they may be a bonded pair thet doesn't mean the egg is fertile I doubt very much that it is. If it is thats going to be one strange looking baby. anyway yes she will probubly lay an egg every 2 day until she has 3 or 4. then just let her be with them make sure she getting lots of calcium rich foods and if the male is feeding her make sure he's got lots of soft easy to regurgate foods to eat.

I like Both names and I think either way would be fine. I know this person that has had four dogs over the course of his life and he names them all the same name. He likes it and he figures its an honor for the dog that came before. Name your bird something you really like it doesn't matter if the bird that came before him has the same name.

Well in Alaska there is 6 months of darkness and 6 months of light so if we lived there we obviously would have to create a time to be awake and a time to go to sleep that is why its Up to us to decide when our birds should be covered and when they should be awake I have a very hormonal bird at the moment so I'm giveing him at least 14 hours of darkness so that he can get over this as quickly as possible as the longer day kick this in for the birds. It doesn't matter as long as you feel your birds are getting enough sleep time its up to you to make that decision

Moving with parrots and safe home-heating
Tycos_mom replied to TinyTimneh's topic in The GREY Lounge
I heat my house with electric heaters the ones I have don't get hot on the outside you can pick them up anytime and move them I've been here for 2 years now and i've never had a problem and I live in Canada also. I also have freestanding gas fireplace which is what is supposed to heat my house but I won't even concider it because it would be way to easy for my birds to get burn't so I opted for space heaters and my house is 1500 square feet it only takes 3 space heaters to heat the whole house and keep it toasty warm. -
I think thats very true what Dan said Tyco is 6 yrs old and has an amazing vocabularty she nows colours and how to count what food are what like with red and yellow peppers she will say red peppers yum or yellow peppers she knows the different colours of them she also knows the different colours of the birds she say Fergie in green I have a Gray dress. she says many things and calls many thing by name she also likes to get her 2 cents worth in when my daughter and I are talking. she is 6 and still learning new things. I just taught her a new song and she picked it up within a couple of days you know the song that goes ooow eee ooow ahah bing bang walla walla walla bing bang. it was easy for her and we had a ton of fun with it. I don't think there is an age limit on new thing I think it up to us how big a vocabulary we want our birds to have they will learn as long as we are willing to teach.

WOW WHAT A GREY'T PLACE. If I was an abused grey thats where I'd want to go and spend my retirment years. They have really done something very speical for our feathered friend. I wish there was a place like that in every major city because lord knows we are probubly going to need them. If I only had a billion dollars I'd open a place just like that. Judy please tell us all about it and take tons of pics.

That so cute she really is a smarty pants I wonder if that was a hint to mom so that mom would make her some oatmeal. Tyco says mmmm chicken yumyum when she wants me to get her a peice of chicken. and Fergie say's Popcorn popcorn please when she wants me to make popcorn for her.

I useually allow the birds to decide when the time is right. I hang it up where I's going to stay and it stays there usually untouched for a couple days then they get curious and go check it out. I don't make a big deal about it or try to force them I just hang it and let them decide. I find that the birds learn to have more confidence that way if you try to force them to play on it at first they will be even more afraid of it. Don't even try to introduce the toy to them they do much better finding out for themselves what is dangerous and what is not

My Adaya is the same age as spock and she just loves to play on her back she lays like a baby in my arms and cuddles and I can hold her any way I want to we a very close relationship maybe its because I've had her since she was 5 weeks old I don't know but I do know she trusts me with her life. she we do recall practice every day and I'm teaching her how to pick things up and put them in a cup. By far her very favorite game is to lay on her back a wrestle with my hands its so much fum maybe you've seen the video of her playing on her back. its fun to have them playing on their backs and likeing it isn't it. It doesn't take very long for them to learn and once they do they can't get enough of it. Adaya will hang onto my hair and roll over onto her back when shes on my shoulder it looks really funny to see a bird laying on a shoulder but she likes it she's so silly it sounds to me like Spock is going to be the same way pretty soon. Your going to just love it. be ready to catch him when he decide's to roll off your shoulder whenyou least expect it LOL

Questions from a recently adopted Cockatoo owner
Tycos_mom replied to thecoffeesnob's topic in Other Birds
I had a Cockatoo for a while he was one I took in after his Mama died he was 25 years old and the sweetest most loving very cuddly bird to woman he attacked my 13 yr old daughter every chance he got he wasn't good with other birds and would have killed them if given half a chance. But that was just because he was with one woman for 25 years no other birds no kids nothing just her and him and thats thekind of home he was used to so thats the kind of home I found for him. If it was just me I would have kept him I loved him so much he was just so sweet with me he just loved to be with me and cuddle and play silly games such a nice bird he was but very set in his ways and I don't really think he could change at his age. I really miss him but he has a wonderful home. -
I been thinking about it for a long time and wondering if my birds really needed another big toy . Well today I said what the heck they don't need it but they would probubly really like it so I spoilt them rotten and ordered the the mother. Plucker's Atom. What a bunch of spoilt little. Birds I have. {Love-0002012D}

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/06/26 03:35
