1. What a beautiful baby I want one your so lucky I would just love to have a great big birdie to love and cuddle I wish I could afford another one but my buget is streached to the max.
2. what a big cuddle muffin Dayo is I just love the pictures and the story
3. OmG what a little sweetheart I can see why you love him just look at that sweet little tough guy tail I just love that beak I be he's got a big mouth when he opens it up to be fed. has he started taking any solid food yet. He's so little and so cute. I bet his little feathers feel just like silk. you are doing a awesome job he looks healthy and strong. what do your other birds think of him?
4. He sounds wonderful if he is playing when he screams then you are really going to have to nip thisin the bud quickly and the only way todo that is to put him back in his cage without saying anything and turning your back everytime he screams and then when he's quiet reward him and tell him what a good bird he is when he doesn't scream.
5. I will also send a friendship request and send healing and prayers for a succsessful operation.
6. Oh yeah I also have 5 huge cages to clean but there is noway that I can clean them all in 1 day I do 2 one day and then 3 the next. then I start all over again its a huge job and if you aren't on top of it constantly then the job is twice as hard. they are allot of work but if your trully a bird person its just part of it. All pets take some work parrots are just a little more than most.
7. Thats so great I wish I could catch Tyco on camera Talking but as soon as she see's the camera she clams up I think she thinks its going to steel her soul or something:laugh::evil::silly: Adaya's not camera shy so maybe when she learns to talk I can get her on camera when she learns to talk. I just loves the video of Dayo he's a good little talker and his sound effects are so funny.
8. The room has 2 window both have screens so I do leave them open wide I drop the window shades on the bay window half way and there is a large Magnolia tree that shades that window the other window faces NE so there is no sun at all there. and like I said I keep a fan running in there also to curculate the air and also a air cleaner running which also blows air. I work from 4pm to 11pm 3 days a week but when I leave thats when it seems to be the hottest because the baywindow faces SW so the sun is coming through that window full strength until the sun goes down which is around 9 pm If I can put an air conditioner in that window how far away would it have to be from Tycos cage if I put in on a low setting would 8 ft be enough so she wouldn't get sick
9. My birds nap a couple time during the day always have
10. WOW time flys by so Quick Happy Hatchday Pepper Baby I hope you had a wonderful day.
11. Iam really a little worried about my 2 Grey's and my Amazon its 110to 120 degree I live in a double wide trailor so it longer than it is wider. I have 2 small window airconditioners which keeps the whole house cool except for the room at the fartest end of the house which happens to be the room 3 of my birds are in and boy is it hot I could put one of the air conditioners in that room but the window it would fit in is right beside Tyco's cage and would blow cold air at her. Theres no where else to move her cage. when I'm home I can spray them down a couple times a day. but when I have to work is what I'm worried about. I have a fan going and the windows open and I put Ice in their water before I go. Is that enough do you think is there anything else I can do for them.
12. My birds are out all day they can do pretty much what they want usually they will have breakfast and then a game of catch me if you can flying all over the house from playgym to playgym and boing to boing haveing fun this usually last about an hour then they get tired and usually go back to their cages for a quick snack and a nap. then around 1pm they will usually play on their own in or on top of there playtops and their playgyms beside their cages foot toys that kind of thing around 3pm it snack time and nap time again then some time between 1pm and 4pm each of my birds have 1/2 hour of one on one time with me Adaya is baby so she gets about 2 hours of one on one time before I get the other birds up in the morning from 7am til 930 am Adaya and me play and do recalls and cuddle. then the others get about 30 t0 45 minutes with me each in the afternoon. 3 days a week I leave for work at 430pm so I give them their dinner just before I leave and sometimes they have to go in their cages and somtimes they don't it just depends on weather my daughter is home or not if she's home then she puts them to bed for me if she out then they go in their cages before I leave I get home around 11:30 so they get covered then. I only work 6 hour shifts 3 days a week so most of the time I'm home so they are rarely locked in there cages.
13. My daughter walk into my house the other day she hasn't been here for awhile and the first thing she said to me was mom you have to many birds look they have taken over your house. they're is a playgym in everyroom large rubber mats under each one their are boings rope swings globes and atoms hanging everywhere their are window perches and shower perches she said I live in a giant bird cage. LOL I thought it was funny she only stayed about 15 or 20 minutes. she probubly thinks I'm very ecentric and is telling her sister that moms gone nuts. I have one daughter that is a total bird nut like me as a matter of fact she just moved a couple months ago and took the 2 cockateils and the Green cheeked conure with her. although they where my birds they where very bonded to her much more so then to me and she asked me if she could have them so I said ok. so actually i'm down to 5 birds instead of 8 I don't know what all the fuss is. No one except you people understand the love of birds.
14. Thats great when you use your fist you have to continuusly move your hand when she move to grab another spot turn your hand so your fist is always lined up with her beack watch her body language when she move you do the same stay with it it will work and keep reminding her no bite.
15. First off thats exactly why she bite because you react at least not in front of her noscreaming ow none of that when she bite put her in her cage and turn your back and walk away go somewhere like outside and scream but never in front of your bird they love drama and you have taught your bird to bite because she thinks its funny. try useing your fist make a fist as tight as possible then bend your wrist so the skin on the top of your hand is tight. Then moveyour hand towards her kepping to top of your hand in line with her beak she will not beable to bite it. she sounds also like she may be biteing to so you will put her back in her cage after she has had enough do you have a small cage that you can use for time outs or apet crate something like that something other than her cage. African greys need at least 2 to 3 hours of out of cage time daily or they will become cage territorial and wont let you come near them so you have to take her away from her cage can you get her a portable stand of some sort and take her to your room to spend time with you you don't have to play withher the whole time if you can get her a few little foot toys from the dollar store like rattles and sqeak toys stuff like that then she can at least have your company everyday for a while even an hour is better than nothing but get her away from her cage. try this for now and remember don't react to her bite push your fist into her face and say go ahead bite and say I don't care it not going to work anymore she will soon stop and don't worry she won't be able to get a good grip with your fist tight.
16. First how old is your bird. you really need to teach her that biting is not acceptable behavour. how much out of cage time does she get? If she's not out everyday for at leasy 3to4 hours then she may just be cage territorial in which case your going to have to get her totally away from her cage and work with her. I need some more back ground in order to help you does she have a play gym or playstand? does she have lots of toys? her age would help and how long have you had her?
17. Yum yum yum Bet your baby's just love it what a good mommy
18. You just bought yourself an unweaned baby with no experience this could be a little dangerous. You can't stop that last feeding until your bird refuses every bit of it and weaning is not the easiest thing to do please read every sticky in the nursery on hand feeding and weaning. You can put your baby in the big cage but you will have to put a heavy blanket or a couple of thick towels under the news papers either on top of the grate or remove the grate for now. put the perches down low to the floor and the food dishes on the floor but not under the perches this way if your baby falls it won't get hurt baby birds are Quite clumsy until they learn how to climb. Your baby's wings should never be clipped unless absolutely necessary for safety training and teaching is a lot better option. if you do clip it should not be done until your baby can fly and land perfectly. during the weaning process it is necessary to weigh your baby on a daily basis to make sure its not losing to much weight and he able to hold his weight on his own cutting your baby or rushing him off formula can cause severe emotional and behaviour problems the same goes for wing clipping if its done to soon and the bird has not fully learned to fly and land there are a few very good threads on weather to clip Please read this link before you decide to clip your baby's wings. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-grey-lounge/134631-arguments-for-&-against-clipping.html I noticed you said that the shop owner said he would not sell you the bird unless he had his wings clipped well he can't take the bird back now that you have bought it so if you don't take your bird in to be clipped whats he going to do about it as a Grey owner it now become your choice weather or not you want him clipped or not. Please at least read the link I put in before decideing at least that way you can make the right decision for you

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/07/04 18:43
19. (Well I never)I'm here and I welcome you with open arms Its a pleasure to have someone who has done their research before buying a baby Grey If this forum is where you did most of your research then you picked the best place on the place one the net. You have read the good the bad and everything in between and because of that your going to be an awesome Parront. I can't wait to see some pictures of your baby maybe you could get your breeder to send some pictures of the baby's. I just love the wee ones they are just so cute. Anyway I got to get some sleep so good night and again welcome.
20. If he's squacking allot he probubly wants some attention you are going tohaveto learn to handle him because Macaws are very hands on birds they like to be cuddled and pet. And at 5 wmonths old he is jus weaned if he's been well socialized then you should be able to handle him no problem forget he's got the beak and pick that bird up and give him some lovee and attention he's probubly used to it and is missing it and doesn't understand.
21. Oh what a little cutie I can't believe he actually survived a fall onto concrete. I guess he was meant to be yours. he's sure cute. How old do you think he was when you found him? How long have you had him? I can't wait to see him fully feathered. Thank you for sharing him/her with us What kind of seed mix will he eat canary, budgie,or cockateil? how big is he? Geez I'm just full of questions aren't I. sorry I jsut so curious I raise a baby squiral that fell from his nest last year he was only about a week old and hairless when I found him. I let him go In my back yard when he was old enough I stiil put food out for him and he comes around to eat.
22. Allot of Greys prefer their bath water Icy cold I know Adaya does Tyco's not crazy about the Ice flouting in the dish but as soon as it melts she in there I usually bath her in the shower but she does like to get into her dish after her shower.
23. Don't be afraid of him or he will sense and may bite I find my Macaw likes to rub his beak on my hands and fingers also their beaks are really sensitive and they just love haveing them played with and rubbed they also bluff allot once they settle they are such sweet heart and love to cuddle. have fun with your new baby nice new cage for your Grey and for your Macaw.
24. Its been really hot here also 30 degrees or so everyday for the last month or so we had a bit of rain over night a couple days ago it was so mice. It really helped clear the air and cool things down a bit. Its hot I have 2 small air conditioners and its still hot.
25. Actually Dan she just got over a really bad case of hormones. This is just a ploy to get me to put Jeeper's down and come and spend time with her.
