Mabie at cuddle time instead of letting him sit on the couch have him sit on your knee instead and then if he moves to the couch move him back to your knee or chest which even is most comfortable for you he will soon learn the difference or mabie get a small T stand and have him sit on that for his nite time cuddles instead of on the couch.

Have you tried time outs don't say anything to him just give him a badbird look and put him in his cage for 10 minutes totally ignoreing him while he's in there. Leave the room if you have too. Garenteed he won't like that much.

Thats Great news I wish I could get a couple of my birds to eat their pellets mabie one day with anyluck.

My birds love Ice-cream also so I started buying the little all natural frozen fruit bars for them they just love them and I don't have to worry about dairy products or weather or not I'm even going to get a taste of my Icecream with 5 birds Its definatly a chore.

Isn't that a wonderful story and so true. I myself think the African Grey is also one of the most beautiful birds in the world.

I love that little rock and roll spinning thing she does at the end great video can't wait to get one for my fids they are temporaraly out of the large ones and jumbo is to much and I don't know if the medium one is big enough so I'm waiting again.
-
Does she get lots of baths? Are you sure she's chewing it and not just getting it caught on her toys or in the bars of her cage? If she is molting her tail feathers may be just old and getting ready to come out soon so new ones will grow in. I ;m sorry I guess I asked more questions than giving you answer. I know that a few good baths will encourage her to preen more and that will help to get her tail looking good again. Mabie she's just trying to help the molting process and pulling on her tail feathers to see if they are ready to come out and breaking them while she's trying to pull.

I love it your bird was really trying hard to kill that thing so cute. I had one of those balls on the top of my tea cozy. One morning I went to pour myself a cuppa tea and my cup was full of peices of wool My sweet little Adaya had ripped it apart and I didn't notice the little brat. Oh well what are you gonna do make a new cup a tea and smile.:cheer:  :cheer:

That true they only do certain vocalizations if they are getting something from it they will soon get bored and stop if nobody is giving them any kind of feedback for it. try to completely ignore the bad and praise the good and soon you will have a perfect little bird.

Adaya said her first word today she said Hello. I came into the room and when she saw me she said Hello and I didn't quite beleive my ears. so I said Hello and she said it again what a smart little baby she is I'm so proud of her.

I do know what thats like I was worried about Tyco's morning poop for a day or two as well because it was slimy and bright green and it had a really funny smell to it. I almost made a vet appointment until I realized what it was. I watched her one morning and I give al my birds 3or 4 snap peas in with their fruits and veggies well Tyco was eating her peas and then going around to everyone elses bowl and eating theirs also so she was eating 12 to 15 snap peas everyday. thats what she was pooping out. now I make sure that I feed the birds their snap peas by hand rather than putting them in their dishes and what do you know Tyco's poop is back to normal:laugh:

So Char how are things going other than her hormonal issues. Aren't they just the sweetest birds you've ever seen in your whole life. When I had Mr. Magoo for a while I fell head over heels in love with him. I would have loved to have kept him just because he was sososo sweet and gentle with me. If I didn't have my daughter athome still or other birds he would still be here and thats for sure. He would attack my daughter every chance he could and I'm sure he would have killed my other birds if given 1/2 a chance. He was so loveing and cuddly and could absolutly do no wrong when it came to being with me. talk about jeckle and hyde that was definatly how I would describe Mr. Magoo. Is your Cockatoo like that also.

Thats so great and how does Kalin feel about Ahmani are the feeling mutual. I love your new pictures you must have so much fun with those 2 I have one baby and she's a handful I couldn't imagine haveing 2 in competition with each other. Your very brave at least my 2 are 6 years apart.

I love it what a pretty bird Bonec is The last picture of him waving good-bye is very cute.
-
Well I did laugh and I thimk that is very cute what do these 2 facebook lovebirds talk about haha. Tyxo is 6 yrs old and she still loves her toys allot and loves attention and scritches I think it all depends on the Greys personality they are all different and just because 1 person has a Grey that is like that doesn't meaan they all are. I do know as they get older they will need more wood to chew on because that instinct gets stronger as they get older but I think lots of birds play into their late 20 and 30's.
-
He is still very young and life is new and exciting to him. I think as he gets older he will stop to some degree. As for the actual ear peircing screams I wold go up to him and whisper no scream talk nice and If he doesn't than leave the room and totally ignore him until her talking quietly then go and tell him what a good boy he isfor talking nice. Yo'll have to be consistant but in time it should work.

Frustration I'm extreamly frustrated at least your bird was fledged before it was clipped so when the wings grow back she will be flying. Tyco's had a full set of flights for over a year now and still can't really fly. She is 6 yrs old and because she wasn't permited to fledge she never learned how to fly and now I'd love to see her in full flight like my other birds but there is a very good chance that will never happen. My Macaw is another one that I'd just love to see in full flight he also has all his flights but because sombody locked him up for so many years he won't leave his cage. this is about as frustrating as it gets I think you should count yourself lucky that when your birds feathers grow she will soar around your house without a problem 1 year is nothing in the life of a Grey you will have many many years of watching your bird enjoy flying like it was meant too.

I'm was thinking that I may take Jeepers cage away from him during the day and place it in a different room for Sleeping. I thought I get him a nice playstand an load it up with his favorite Toys and put it where his cage is now. The reason for this is he is so attached to that cage of his that he won't leave it ever. the farthest he goes is the top of it. I've tried haning all kinds of things by his cage for him to play on like boings and swings chains and ropes. He won't get off his cage so he won't play with them. Some how I have to make him understand that there is more to life then his cage. So I thought its high time to take that cage away from him. What do you all think should I give this a try or just leave him to his cage forever?

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/06/21 20:19

Thats a great update on your babies that little girl of your sounds like she's going to give youa run for your money:laugh: I know just what its like haveing a bird that likes your hair Adaya likes to hang from mine. do you have any Idea what its like to have a bird hanging upside down by your hair right in front of your face. Ahjari sounds like he's turning into the love of your life he sounds like such a little sweetheart. I love the pictures they are just awesome keep them comeing. I know you are really busy with family and the baby's but try not to stay away to long we miss you. Talk to you soon
-
What a very sweet little girl. Your viseos are just awesome.
-
Yes I agree if he keeps doing this your going to have to cage him when people come over at least until he gets int into his little head that its not acceptable behavior. I hope this isn't something I have to look forward to with Adaya. I socialized her the same way you socialized Echo. Mind you I don't get lots of company because I live way out in the middle of nowhere. Still I do have a 13 year old daughter at home and her friends do come over I would hate to have to deal with an Irrate parent because my bird attacked their child. Adaya has started dive bombing the dogs and chasing them away when they come around when her and I are playing. She can get quite possesive of our time together when where spending quality time together.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/06/19 14:57
